Well, this was the result of some time and getting bored with my previous desktop. While the wallpaper 'is a very nice', i'm not really happy with how the geektool turned out.

Created using GeekTool. This was made on my 2nd day using it, so most of the geeklets are taken from various sources. I tried to keep it simple and fit the color palette of the stylized wallpaper. I want to try and find a nice yellow to fit in with it for some future geeklets.
Does anyone know of any geeklets that tell you the day of the week two days (or more) from now?
The wallpaper is from SimpleDesktops.com - lots of cool stuff there.
The weather geeklets were made using data from GtWthr.com
The font for most of it is Futura. The calendar is a fixed-width font, called Secret Code.
One of these days I'm going to get rid of the Dock, but for now it's just too great a file-dragging target.

Well, I may be just a little slow in uploading this desktop (*whistles innocently* - you mean it's not September anymore?) but better late than never. It's not like I've had this set-up since June or anything... No major changes, just fiddling with the colours, fonts and wallpapers.

Long ago, I promised to post a guide for deciphering this Samurize config, which appeared in my previous desktops, Wing (Desktop 14) and Wing Final. So here it is, at long last.
You can now download the config, called "Arcs," as part of the Enigma package.
I hope it wasn't too pretentious to put this little presentation together - that's just what happens when I start having fun in Photoshop.
Fellow Lifehacker readers will be interested to know that every program in the shot, visible or under the hood, is free. I spend a lot of time tweaking my desktop, so what you see here has survived a pretty rigorous natural selection process. As listed in the image:
Theme:
- SlanXP 2.0. Requires patched uxtheme.dll - patcher here.
- Wallpaper: "Reverie" by Digital Blasphemy.
Startups:
- Autohotkey. See the note in the upper-right corner.
- Launchy. My beloved.
- Yod'm 3D 1.4. Last free version before it became Deskspaces. Probably the closest thing to Compiz Fusion you can get for Windows.
- Taskbar Shuffle. I swear, it's worth it just for middle-clicking to close windows.
- Start Killer.
Programs usually running:
- Samurize. I made the config myself, which you're welcome to download here in a few different resolutions.
- Google Desktop. Solely for the gadgets.

Anyway, it's a wallpaper from fiftyfootshadows.net, and the font is Journal (available from dafont.). The quote and the clock are Conky; the quote is pulled off tinybuddha.com using curl, and the clock/rings are a special Lua script I wrote.
Included in the rings are:
+ Hours, minutes, seconds,
+ cpu1 & cpu2 usage, and a total
+ memory usage
+ battery charge (for my netbook)
+ day of the month and month of the year
+ used file system space

This is my newest desktop, it is heavily based off of one of Ian Michael Smith's desktops. I basically took many of his ideas and adapted them to my desktop.

The office is starting to come together a little after the facelift. I've been considering a different speaker setup than what I've used for the last 12 years or so. My neighbor lent me these nice little Blumenstein full-range speakers to try, and I've set them up in an experimental/temporary configuration. Unfortunately it's late, so I can't really crank them. They sound pretty good even at low volumes though. I'm using a little battery-powered Sonic Impact T-amp to power them for now.
I think this one will work quite well as a desktop. I plan to try it tomorrow at work. See what you think...

Edit: 05/10/2007 - Somewhere around 2pm today, Ira SomethingOrOther, from Apple (who did not even care to specify his position) called my house and spoke to me. Mr. Ira Whoever then "asked me nicely" to remove the image ("I'm asking you to take it down, or we'll send you papers". Yes. his words). My response: "So, I'm being threatened with a NastyGram?" and before I could barely finish the word "threatened", his hurried and heavy-toned response was "No, you're not being threatened. We're 'asking you nicely' to remove it." I inquired exactly what the part of it was that Apple had a problem with, and was given a very vague response:
"We don't have a problem with it. It's illegal to post internal systems of Apple's."
"However, Peoplesoft is not owned nor created by Apple."
"PeopleSoft does belong to Apple."
"No, PeopleSoft is not owned by Apple, I've used it at Radioshack, Wells Fargo, and Shasta High School."
"Well... um... GCRM is."
"Yeah, sure, I guess."
When I asked specifically if it was GCRM that Apple's higher-ups had an issue with, I was again given a very vague answer, just coming back down to somewhat thinly veiled heavyhanded "polite asking".
Now, I understand Apple's interest in protecting their internal secrets, interests, and properties... So, in response to Ira *Insert forgettable last name here*, I have replaced this image with a hopefully Apple-Friendly version. Anything even remotely considered Apple internal systems has been blurred out.
I am now not in any violation of any interpretation of any sort of NDA that I signed a year and a half ago.
Cupertino must've been bored this week... It's not like this was a leak of Asteroid proportions. Which, being said, as an Apple fan and a musician obsessed with computer-based recording, I would 99.9% buy one of those bastards. IF it didn't suck. Pass that on to His Steveness, Ira.
So, if this image is now Apple-Approved, great. If this still is a problem, I believe you have my number. ;-)
