UPDATE: I added a transparent dark gray shadow underneath the time to make it pop out a bit... too lazy to screenshoot it unless someone really wants to see it...

1.Samurize - equalizer
2.Rainmeter - Weather,clock and other gadgets
3.Launchy - written commands
4.Fences - to hide desktop icons
5.RocketDock - to replace start bar
6.Glass2k - to achieve transparency
7.Start Killer - to get rid of the start button
8.MiniLyrics - to display the lyrics
9.Wallbase.cc for the wallpaper
This desktop is inspired by the design of the QLOCKTWO, which was remade by D4Danger here as a Windows Gadget. I then created a matching app launcher and system stats config for Rainmeter. The gadget and rainmeter config files can be downloaded here.
The visual style is APPOWS Haze, which you can find here.
The wallpaper is called 'Dusk' and can be found here.
The system stats on the taskbar is the standard Enigma config that comes with Rainmeter.
A reminder I made for myself as a desktop for my computer. May it help others striving for an end to suffering.

This is my X20 Thinkpad desktop. It was 12" monitor with 1024 x 768 res. I am working as network engineer whose quite mobile these days, so I need a desktop that will help me accomplish my task as efficient as possible.
Application most used which not shown in the desktop :
1. MS Office (Visio, Word, Powerpoint). I don't know about OO 2.0, maybe it will replace MSO someday, but currently nothing replace Visio for network diagramming ;)
2. Notepad2 (http://www.flos-freeware.ch/notepad2.html) for my default text application.
3. Free Download Manager (http://www.freedownloadmanager.com) combined with FlashGot as Firefox plugin.
4. Adobe Acrobat Professional. Sometimes I have to "edit" PDF files.
Thier is a Live Journal site called Hi res hotties that has a ton of hot girl pictures and a lot of them are great for desktops.

Added a second 27" Thunderbolt Display to my 27" iMac and immediately started on making my desktop awesome. Decided to go simplistic with GeekTool, just a little date and weather information. Awesome wallpaper provided javierocasio at deviantART

This one took me a couple of tries before I really figured out what I wanted to do with it. I knew I wanted something with bright colors - something I've never really done before, not counting a few Mac clones I put together - and with a higher image:text ratio on the taskbar. But the rest took an unusual amount of trial and error.
I'm really surprised by how much I'm liking the double-height taskbar. I'll probably go back to the single eventually, but it's nice to discover the flexibility. What I've done here is created artificial space for a few Rainmeter skins by adding the Quicklaunch and Links toolbars, which are, of course, empty. I suppose this could easily be mistaken for a Windows 7 taskbar; I'll have to try and duplicate it once I've made the switch. (If anyone knows how to center the taskbar tabs when there's only one row, please let me know.)

I proooooomise, I still plan to start posting regularly on my customization blog. It's just a matter of finding the time; I'm fortunate to have been kept busy working on Enigma, Rainmeter 1.0, and a few other projects. But there are a couple desktops in the Lifehacker pool that I'm interested in featuring in the near future, so I hope you'll keep an eye on it. :)
