Car designer Duncan McRae (US, 1919-1984) standing alongside a 1958 Packard Hardtop Coupe.
He looks like he isn't able to enjoy his creations. This is not surprisingly at all. There weren't any financial means anymore for developing new own Packard models. The only thing he could do was restyling existing Studebaker automobiles and hoping it gave them a certain Packard look.
Duncan McRae had worked for the Ford Motor Company and Kaiser-Frazier Corporation before he joined the Studebaker-Packard Corporation in August 1955. As a chief stylist he designed the 1958 Packard Hawk (a redesigned Studebaker Golden Hawk) and the 1959 Studebaker Lark.
In 1964 he returned to Ford and was transferred to the UK to design the Cortina Mark II, the Escort and the Capri.
In 1967 he supervised the design team responsible for the German Taunus 23m series.

Haines was openly gay in Hollywood and in a ;pong-term relationship with his partner Jimmie Shields. When the movie studio wanted him to marry a woman to create a fake heterosexual image he refused, and was blacklisted in Hollywood. He chose Jimmie over his movie career. He later became a very successful interior designer for Hollywood stars.

Designers United is a week long fashion event featuring exclusively created products from a group of talented designers, based on a theme. Each designer has created items specifically for this project, and they will only be available for sale for a limited period of time.
The first theme chosen is "Jellyfish", and the designers have interpreted this theme to make items based on the colors, movements and feelings evoked by this hauntingly beautiful sea creature.
This bi-monthly event is being hosted by the Eugene sim, and will be held from August 15 to August 25th.

Description of work : "Denver's development in the 1970s led to the dense congestion of 16th Street, a narrow but lively spine of commerce, transport and retail. This project was undertaken to facilitate public transportation for both downtown and outlying areas, while consolidating and revitalizing the diverse city core. The challenge was to create a cohesive identity for 16th Street without sacrificing its distinctive personality. The solution, emphasizing people and specialized transit, involves a nearly one-mile-long integrated mall with a suburban bus node at each end. From the nodes commuters transfer to the mall's shuttle buses for passage through downtown, reducing center city bus traffic by 50%. The 80-foot-wide mall uses paving, lighting and planting to articulate three zones of activity. The first is a 22-foot-wide central promenade with mature trees that shade without blocking visibility or access to shopping.
