Tunnel of Hope at Vivid Sydney

Designworks, in collaboration with The Benevolent Society, has created a unique, interactive light installation that will be launched this week at Vivid Sydney. Designed as a walk-through tunnel, the Hundreds and Thousands installation is composed of thousands of little LED lights, which can be controlled individually and respond when visitors interact with them. People are invited to share their hopes for the future of Australia’s children via Twitter (#hopesforchange), or through the website hopesforchange.org.au. The greater the number of people sharing their hopes, the more dynamic the lighting effects become.

“This is a fabulous way to bring the role of The Benevolent Society to life” says Mark Kennedy, Managing Director, Designworks Sydney. “Hundreds and Thousands is an extension of the transformation and design work we have recently undertaken for The Benevolent Society.”

"The aim of the brand repositioning was to capture and articulate The Benevolent Society’s key role in driving positive social change in Australia, and the Hundreds and Thousands light tunnel brings this aim to life by providing Australians with the ability to share their hopes and dreams via social media feeds.”

Says Anne Hollonds, CEO of The Benevolent Society, “Hundreds and Thousands is so much more than a light installation, it’s a wonderful platform to engage with Australians of all walks of life and share a little bit of our history, what we stand for today and our vision for the future. The light installation is exciting and thought-provoking, and will inspire people to share their hopes for change for Australia’s future….We are absolutely delighted with the result.”

It was a special moment on the rooftop of the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles as BMW M Motorsport introduced the world to their latest racing outlier, the BMW M Hybrid V8. It's daring, futuristic, powerful, high-tech, revolutionary, and fast! Presented in traditional BMW M hues representing the avant-garde livery, the prototype will compete in the GTP class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2023. Principal drivers for the two BMW M Team RLL cars include Connor De Phillippi, Philipp Eng, Augusto Farfus, and Nick Yelloly. In addition, Colton Herta of the IndyCar series will offer his experience and support.

In Las Vegas today, BMW Group subsidiary Designworks unveiled a new camper concept and virtual reality experience in partnership with The North Face, to imagine the future of protection from the elements. The lightweight camper concept and virtual experience were designed by Designworks to showcase a new fabric innovation from The North Face called FUTURELIGHT which uses Nanospinning technology to create the world’s most advanced, breathable, waterproof material.

The revolutionary Nanospinning process used to create FUTURELIGHT has allowed the The North Face designers to add air permeability into the membrane of a fabric for the first time. The process creates nano-sized holes, allowing for incredible porosity while still maintaining total waterproofness, letting air move through the material and provide more venting than ever before.

FUTURELIGHT will first become available to consumers in The North Face Fall 2019 product line and will be featured across the brand’s pinnacle performance collections.

This is from a shooting I did back in April - for a new magazine on the net about hifi and the like.

The project is now online - in a Danish and a Swedish version. I know most of you can't read it, but if this becomes a success, we're planning an English version as well.

It's not all perfect yet, but we want our readers to help make it better.

I've done the designwork - except what I couldn't control because of the programming. And I've been writing articles, translating a lot of the texts from Swedish (the chief editor is from Sweden), taking photos - and a lot of other stuff... Hence my absence from flickr!

But this picture is appearing on one of my favorite pages...

The goal was to create a dynamic sign that retained the historical look and integrity of the building. Brushed steel mixed with the structures old blonde and red brick, bring about a unique and progressive result.
