It was a special moment on the rooftop of the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles as BMW M Motorsport introduced the world to their latest racing outlier, the BMW M Hybrid V8. It's daring, futuristic, powerful, high-tech, revolutionary, and fast! Presented in traditional BMW M hues representing the avant-garde livery, the prototype will compete in the GTP class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2023. Principal drivers for the two BMW M Team RLL cars include Connor De Phillippi, Philipp Eng, Augusto Farfus, and Nick Yelloly. In addition, Colton Herta of the IndyCar series will offer his experience and support.

An overview of the Mandarin Oriental's newly introduced Mandarin Deluxe Room, which is the hotel's top tier room. The 64 m2 room is practically a Suite, by adjoining two rooms with separate Living and Bedroom area, interconnected through series of discreet sliding doors.
The spacious room has its own foyer, marked by dark timber louvres; and a separate study area next to the living room. It also features two 42" LCD TV with DVD players; mood lighting; 480-thread count linens to guarantee a restful sleep; ipod connectivity; and a spacious marble bathroom.
Although I personally think LTW Designworks could have put more wow-factor to the room design in comparison to its sister properties in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore; it is still supremely comfortable.
But is it the best in Jakarta? Definately not. With serious teething problems encountered during my stay shortly after its Grand Opening, the Mandarin Oriental needs serious commitment to deliver excellence in customer service to reposition itself as the finest hotel in the capital. At the moment, it is messy and chaotic; and certainly not ready to anticipate guests yet.
Like a good wine, we just have to see when it has matured in the near future....

Turks head knot bracelet with side release buckle, shown next to a regular paracord bracelet. The shape is round and has a rope like feel to it.
The turks head is a 61 lead 4 bight knot made with a single doubled up strand of one pass. The knot used less than 20 feet of 1.4mm cord, but I just tucked the extra into the center of the knot, alongside the paracord core strands.
The buckle is a 3/8" size curved/contoured side release buckle from Creative Designworks.

The Conrad Bali is a beautifully-designed world class resort at the Southern coast of Bali. This is not your typical Balinese hotel adorned with traditional local arts and crafts, rather it is a contemporary version of a Balinese palace. The grounds are amazingly manicured that you have to see it to believe it; the lagoons are so vast that it took me hours on a round-trip journey; the beach is so pristine, it looks as good as it is in the brochures.

A production still from "BMW: A Company on the Edge" (Time Magazine Video).
Design sculptor, Patrick Carlson, models a clay Mini at BMW Designworks in Newbury Park.
BMW Group Design set the standard for designing new cars that move today’s consumers and their demand for enhanced utility and more versatility. An innovative concept introduced by BMW Group Design prepares the ground for this new approach: the GINA (Geometry and Functions In “N” Adaptations) principle grants more freedom for car design. It allows the creation of products with a design and functional range that express individuality and meet the wide variety of requirements of those who are using them. GINA produces dramatically different solutions that affect the design and functionality of future cars.
An essential principle of the GINA philosophy is to deliberately integrate the potential of new materials and pioneering, innovative constructions into the creative design process, and the idea of challenging existing manufacturing methods and material concepts. Designworks collaborated with BMW Group Design to create an optical expression of individuality, functionality, and innovation that is GINA.
Putting its visions of tomorrow’s car into practice, Designworks developed a two-seater roadster concept with the unique dynamic proportions that are typical of the BMW brand.
The GINA Light Visionary Model takes the sculptural design that has already been established by a number of production cars to a new, unparalleled conclusion. Designworks incorporated an almost seamless outer skin for the visionary model, which was created out of a flexible textile cover that stretches across a moveable substructure. With this unique attribute, individual functions are only revealed if and when they are needed uniquely resembling the ability of a human to adapt to its environment. In the interior, variability, form and function are united in an inseparable connection. Again, the car’s variability is adapted to suit the driver’s needs. This creates a close interaction between driver and car in various different situations.
With this model, BMW Group Design initiates a fundamental discourse about the characteristics that will affect the development of cars in the future. It is therefore fundamentally different from concept cars, which reflect what is expected of them by implementing as many elements as possible in a future production model. In contrast, the GINA Light Visionary Model is a vision of future cars and serves as an object of research.

Each Mandarin Deluxe Room has spacious bathrooms with its signature free standing bathtub as the focal point. The bathroom alone measures more than 20 m2, making it among the largest in the region, with adjoining walk-in-wardrobe; dual sinks; dressing table; separate lavatories; and a spacious open air shower with rainforest showerhead.
Again, I personally think that LTW Designworks could have designed a more spectacular bathroom, similar to the ones at both sister properties in Hong Kong. At the moment, it lacks the definition.
