Hand drawn flower illustrations by the "Audubon of Botany", Mary Vaux Walcott (1860–1940). Mary was a female American artist and naturalist known for her almost a thousand watercolors of North American wildflowers. She started experimenting with painting flowers at the age of eight. During her family summer trips to the Rocky Mountains of Canada, she developed her interest in botany and painting. Mary Vaux Walcott and her brother also studied mineralogy. Her success in painting a rare blooming mountain arnica encouraged her to concentrate on botanical illustrations. Mary Vaux Walcott also became an active mountain climber and photographer because she spent many years exploring the difficult terrain in the Canadian Rockies. As a remarkable botanist artist and an unconventional woman, she was elected as the president of the Society of Woman Geographers in 1933. We have digitally enhanced hundreds of her wildflower watercolor paintings into high resolution printable quality. They are free to download and use under the creative commons license.

Beautifuly detailed fern leaf illustrations from Ferns: British and Exotic (1856–1860) by the renowned botanist Edward Joseph Lowe (1825–1900). From a young age, Lowe was fascinated by meteorology and astronomy as well as having a great interest in ferns. This led to an extensive botanical study, resulting in eight illustrated volumes of Ferns: British and Exotic. Design
Das Design war inspiriert durch die Linienführung des NSU Ro 80. Von diesem wurde das hintere Dreiecksfenster übernommen, das typisch für das Audi-Design wurde. Völlig neuartig waren die verklebten Fensterscheiben. Der Entwurf stammte von Hartmut Warkuß, der für das Design zahlreicher Audi- bzw. VW-Fahrzeuge bis in die 90er Jahre verantwortlich zeichnete. Die sogenannte "Toronado-Linie", die die Seitenflanke unterteilt und den Schwerpunkt optisch tief erscheinen lässt, war ein Designelement des neuen Audi 100.
Das Interieur, gestaltet vom bekannten Designer Claus Luthe, und die in den 70ern zwar moderne, aber gewagte Farbpalette in gedeckten Braun-, Blau-, Orange- und Grüntönen wurden in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Münchener Architekten Paolo Nestler entwickelt. Dieser war auch dafür verantwortlich, dass anfangs kein kräftiges Rot lieferbar war ("Rot schafft vermeidbare Aggressionsreize"). Grundgedanke war dabei, den Fahrzeuglenker von grellen Farbkontrasten abzuschirmen und verstärkt auf naturähnliche Farbtöne zu setzen. Dabei wurden nicht nur, wie heute üblich, die Bezugsstoffe farblich abgestimmt, sondern auch die kompletten Innenverkleidungen, das Armaturenbrett, die Bodenteppiche und sogar die Prallplatte des Lenkrades Ton in Ton gehalten.

I was a bit surprised to find such vivid macarons across street. Therefore, I played a bit for my color harmony exercise last weekend. Shot at home with flash light at bottom and speedlite bouncing from from the ceiling. :-)
