A superb new discovery for me to add to the more than fifty varieties of Limacodid caterpillars I have found within a bike ride of my home.

As usual, in the absense of an ID and to make management easier, I have allocated a nickname. At first I thought the red thoracic dot was a passenger mite (not an unusual finding). Once I found the third and fourth caterpillar with the identical marking, it was apparent that they bore a bindi spot by design.

A bindi (Hindi: बिंदी, from Sanskrit bindu, meaning "point or dot") is an auspicious mark worn in South Asia (particularly India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Mauritius) and Southeast Asia among Bali and Javanese Hindus.

The origin of the bindi can be found in ancient times but has lost this significance in modern life and is worn all over the world as an accessory. However, there are different colours worn for different occasions and stages in life.

Hence, I dub thee, Bindi.

As my photo's text says, one of my contacts has already accidentally deleted comments when she had wanted to be replying.

Having Reply at the top is a perfect example of ivory tower design by someone who doesn't actually use the code at the website.

The same dumb-ass design comes into play when wanting to edit a comment we've made.

Edit is in the middle, between Delete at the top and Permalink at the bottom of the choices.

In all these, the most commonly chosen option should be the closest to the three dot menu button to reduce chances of clicking on the wrong option as the cursor moves across them.

I wondered if this design would make more sense to someone using their phone to view photos rather than a computer's browser. That would entail finger taps on a touch screen.

But I think the potential for wrong taps is greater given a phone's smaller real estate.

The drawings of LEGO models I posted recently prompted several questions about what I use them for and whether I always make them.

I use them to work out dimensions (such as the wheelbase, length, location of the doors) and sometimes for more detailed design, depending on the model in question.

These two, for the Buick Roadmaster and the Munster Koach are fairly basic, with little more than a general arrangement.

This is a brochure design I did a few months back. Forgot to post it, so here it is.

If you guessed streetlamp, you are correct. Fairbanks Alaska has just come out of a record setting winter between the subzero days or the close to a hundred inches of snow most cities would have called it disaster not in Fairbanks just another day in the Alaskan Life.

As for the streetlamp well, the snow is the result of days on end of zero temps and snow fall. The newfangled energy saving light aren't quite up to the task, they do not produce enough heat to keep the snow off themselves if they work at all below -36 degrees below zero .
