while Haida is 377 feet long and displaces 2,745 tons the beam is only 36.5 feet a key factor no doubt in her ability to do up to 36.5 knots. Given the role of a destroyer this emphasis on speed was a critical design element and perfectly understandable. Pity the poor crew though when faced with heavy weather which was all too common on the Murmansk run. I can only imagine the ship's motion would have been very unsettling in heavy seas.

On Saturday late afternoon we went to see St Mary's Cathedral near Japantown in San Francisco. A service was in session, we were asked to wait until it finished. The church has beautiful stained glass windows. After the congregation left I took this photo in the center aisle facing back from a low point of view to catch the reflections on the floor.
I processed a balanced HDR photo from three RAW exposures.

For the Book Club Boutique I designed and produced 5,000 copies of a newspaper featuring the best of BCB, for distribution at festivals and in London over Summer 2009.
The paper was edited by Rachel Rayner and Selena Godden of BCB, and printed by the magnificent and very kind Newspaper Club.

Public housing apartments in Northcote, Victoria. These rather interestingly designed apartments replaced some older ones which were quite run down. I think the new ones were built around 2010. The building on the right hand side of the picture is part of a fairly new privately developed complex. Taken at twilight hence the bluish effect.
Seoul, South Korea
The Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park (DDP) is a large urban development project in Dongdaemun, Seoul, South Korea that includes a park, exhibition spaces, and restored parts of the Seoul fortress. Originally planned for completion by 2010 to coincide with Seoul's designation as World Design Capital that year, but construction only started in April 2009, and the DDP was officially inaugurated on March 21, 2014. Organizers hope to make Dongdaemun the fashion hub of South Korea and possibly the entire Asia-Pacific region.
I started with this super groovy paper I found at the paper store the other day and it just sort of evolved into something that looks like cool book cover. So if anyone writes this book I'll let you have this for the cover art!
Took this pic of my Mom's pretty new kitchen door, at night to give it this effect. Love the abstract look. Happy weekend my friends,
enjoy =) Best viewed large.
Why so crazy?
why so many contortions,
just let me out of here, please
exit from the pained entrance to hell
a desperate need for gilted days and breaking freedoms
I ask why do we love smashing through the emptiness
when we feel nothing...
...breaking every part of hurts
into smithereens
for someone else to put together again
we get back up
back up to do it again
and again!

A mahout is the handler and often the owner of a working elephant. He is responsible for feeding and caring for the elephant and has been associated with the animal for decades. A mahout rides on the neck of the elephant and directs it using verbal commands, his elephant stick and the pressure he exerts on the animal with his feet and legs.

Cassandra designed this dress for herself and I LOVE it! At one point it was for sale for $700. She said I could 'rent ' if I really wanted to wear it to something special.
The detail on this dress is exquisite! p1150105
