Arriving from the altiplano in La Paz, one suddenly discovers, at the foot of the majestic Andean peaks whose snow-covered peaks rise to over 6000 meters, the enormous basin sheltering this teeming metropolis of more than one and a half million souls. An Indian city, La Paz is today indisputably the capital of the country: seat of government, assemblies, church and cultural life.
Hạ Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination in Quảng Ninh Province, Vietnam. The name Hạ Long means "descending dragon".
Hạ Long Bay has an area of around 1,553 km2 (600 sq mi), including 1,960–2,000 islets, most of which are limestone. The core of the bay has an area of 334 km2 (129 sq mi) with a high density of 775 islets. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments. The evolution of the karst in this bay has taken 20 million years under the impact of the tropical wet climate. The geo-diversity of the environment in the area has created biodiversity, including a tropical evergreen biosystem, oceanic and sea shore biosystem.
I like how the people on the logs at lower left provide a sense of scale for the falls. From a fun afternoon exploring along the Wahclella Falls Trail with David Wang. This shot was made up of 6 portrait shots stitched together in Lightroom CC to make a panorama. Got some lens flare but I think it adds to the image. Taken using LEE filters landscape polariser and 1.2 very hard grad filter.
My first experiment with a neural density filter; I was clueless about using a formula for the shutter speed, now I’m finding charts to guide me (at least I hope they will :). Waves breaking just below the fishing pier at Galveston.

First day of winter - Dawn breaks upon Ullswater with the Duke of Portland boathouse catching the early light of the first day of winter, as mist rolls down the lake softening the warm glow from the morning's dawn light.
The sky's pastel tones and gently rolling mist add a wonderful delicate feel to the whole scene bringing a real sense of tranquillity to the start of winter.
The hoar frost on the foreground reeds just hints at what a spectacularly bitterly cold dawn it was; experiencing such ethereal conditions made waiting around on Ullswater's shore in such bitter temperatures surprisingly bearable, actually quite enjoyable to be honest.
