A pair of Conrail SD40-2s ease train UCS-50 into Enola yard as seen from the Iron Bridge at the yard's west end in 1990.
The coal load was destined to the Charles P. Crane Generating Station power plant near Chase, Maryland.
The plant was closed and demolished and is now a park.
Strong winds bringing big waves to the islands along the Northern Sea also deliver razor clams (aka American jackknive clams) and other mussels that are a great source of nutrition for the small waders that are roaming the beaches this time of the year. It is a bit of work though to get the flesh out of the mussels as you can guess from the picture. The big bird in a picture is a red knot, which is mostly grey in winter plumage. There is only a slight hint of color on its breast. Lots of Turnstones in the background and this time I wished I had been a bit further away from the bird.

An Erie Mining C420 has air dumps of ore or perhaps overburden. We managed to work our way into some behind the scenes action on the Erie Mining. Cool stuff for sure and no one gave us a second look.
DB operated 66009 is seen in charge of a return freightliner, probably from Wakefield to Felixstowe with the 4L45 whilst, somewhat off patch a lorry load of beer courtesy of Bury St Edmonds brewers Green King heads towards Walton.
2023 has been a poor year for rail photography. My desire to travel has meant that I have spent time at work to pay for holidays and run. out of time to visit the line side. Fingers crossed 2024 will be a little more fruitful from a railway perspective.

The yellow lines looked like they were delivering autumn color from one side of the street to the other and then down the hill. (The overhead lines were temporarily covered to protect them from construction damage during a water main replacement project, which is also why the tree trunks are surrounded with wooden fences.) The Azores have lots of cows and i saw several farmers going off to the dairy with just a couple of milk churns. This was the only one I managed to photograph through the bus window.

Rolling past the feed mill in Monte Vista, SLC 70 has three loads of potatoes for handoff to the San Luis and Rio Grande at Sugar Jct., just 500 feet ahead. After this, the crew and their venerable SW8 will saunter back north to the engine house and tie down for the day.

Delivered from ALCo in 1938, The Milwaukee Road F7 Hudson's were in my opinion, the most beautiful steam locomotives to grace the high iron. I personally never had seen one, but stories from my father and others brought the magnificent Hudson to life in my mind. Here in a summer of 1944 scene, engine 102 screams across the C&NW at Mayfair crossing, bound for Chicago Union Station.

Delivered brand new in March 2013 and pictured here being pushed back from its gate at Tokyo Haneda (HND) to perform yet another flight up to Sapporo (CTS) as ANA59.
Running as Z744-28 over CSX, NKPA crosses the Scioto River for the first of two times as it knocks down LM Cabin and moves towards Parsons yard, where Ohio Central interchanges with CSX. Recently delivered to the property, the BPRR SD60M/Is now roam in their new home on the Ohio Central System.
Originally delivered as 2238 in the Royal Blue express fleet, this Bristol MW was one of several converted for bus use, but the only one of this body type allocated to Devon General as 2901 (XUO 721). The bus is seen here after withdrawal at W.North's in Sherburn in Elmet.
Later bought for preservation and restored in NBC Poppy Red livery, with white window surrounds, as originally painted when converted.
One texture used from the new pack, texture is “Muted Colorful Day.” It was overlayed in “Overlay” mode. Image inspired by the wonderful Jamie Heiden. Just finished a new texture pack. I really love this one as it has a lot of depth yet very soft and dreamy feel to it.
I know a lot of winter images are going up but my mind is just not there yet. I have been battling the change of season blues and needed a colorful image today.
