A delicate carnation in soft ivory and blush pink stands in the spotlight, its ruffled petals kissed with magenta edges.
It was a memorable moment during a trip to the Delicate Arch began a real storm with rain and hail, but I still took a few pictures.
Publish here the most successful short in my opinion.

I always find it amazing in nature how small delicate things like this survive and grow on rocky, windy shorelines.....Forillon National Park, Gaspe
I took this photo of the inside of a flower that is called "The Bread Flower"
because this is the flower usually bends over and the small tree has fruits similar to breads.
I found it so delicate and mysterious.. and also very feminine,
So delicate,
So mysterious,
So gorgeous...

"and when we speak we are afraid
our words will not be heard
nor welcomed
but when we are silent
we are still afraid
So it is better to speak
remembering
we were never meant to survive."
-Litany for Survival by Audre Lorde
A shot of Delicate Arch taken at twilight in Arches National Park, Utah, last month. The sun had set 10-15 minutes before this shot was taken, and the sky started to turn lovely colors and people started departing for the hike back to the cars--leaving a people-less Delicate Arch to photograph!
The finest art is outdoors all around us. The most beautiful blooms are often the tinest and most delicate which are frequently overlooked.
I always wait for the afterglow post sunset. The crowd of about 150 people had left and maybe there were 15 people left. Not may taking pictures - mostly taking in the moonrise and a distant thunderstorm on the La Sal. I climbed down behind the arch on the opposite side of the main approach to get this perspective. I feel it highlights the most delicate part of the arch. It really helped that the light was warm - complimenting the color of the sandstone- and that the shadows were soft. I used an IRIX 15mm lens - I'm using it more and more. Such a wide perspective allows you to get close to your subject and still have really good DOF at your sharpest apertures.
My take on the iconic delicate arch. We drove for about 7hrs and then rushed to the trailhead. We reached the point a few mins before sunset and it was super windy and cold.
Another macro of the peach blossoms out back, they are all gone now, replaced by tiny baby peaches....I can't wait for them to grow up..hehe.
I know I haven't been around to visit my friends latest uploads...been pretty busy consolidating 10 groups into 1, and now I am off to Arizona for 3 days....going to a NASCAR race then hopefully do a little exploring and photography there...
Trying to get a little different take on the famous Delicate Arch. Or, trying to get a little different take on a cloud. Arches National Park.
This hummingbird's delicate grace was fascinating to watch as she sipped sweetened water at a rest stop near Bear Lake Idaho. I'm so glad she decided to take a little rest too!

This was tricky - every time I breathed the little feather fluttered off. I learned to time my breathing!
The female Roe Deer looked very slim and elegant. She was so graceful. One of our true natives and the largest after the Red Deer., They share our British landscape with Fallow, Sika, Muntjac and Chinese Water Deer which were all introduced species. Red and Roe Deer have lived here since the Halocene ice sheets retreated.
The Milky Way Rises behind Delicate Arch at Arches National Park in Utah, United States. Delicate Arch has become a widely recognized symbol of the state of Utah and one of the most famous geologic features in the world. The light opening beneath the arch is 46 feet high and 32 feet wide, making it the largest free-standing arch in the park. Arches National Park is a national park of the United States in eastern Utah. The park is adjacent to the Colorado River, 4 mi north of Moab, Utah. The park contains more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the well-known Delicate Arch, which constitute the highest density of natural arches in the world. It also contains a variety of other unique geological resources and formations. The national park lies above an underground evaporite layer or salt bed, which is the main cause of the formation of the arches, spires, balanced rocks, sandstone fins, and eroded monoliths in the area.
