Have to break the seal to take the top off the first time (on the left). The torque arrow is inside the bottle on the right. Now a cross view of each side. That should be fun.

bringing back the nerd series ;] it is most definitely not completed yet.

Not trying to add gasoline to the acquisition fire (I support it), it's just a dictionary definition. I got my new "Shorter" Oxford English Dictionary today (yes, I'm excited) and was thinking of words to look up. This one came to mind, and I hadn't seen those definitions before.

I made the box with a "patterned paper "that I made with the Hero Arts Sketch Tulips Digital Kit. The Green/bottom part of the tag is printed with the Friendship Definition Digital Kit. It opens up like a match box with a tray inside, sorry that I forgot to take a photo of it before I tied the hemp on it...

Please go to my blog for the information on the origin of the box.

Made this card for this week's challenge - incorporated a "globe" given that we recently celebrated World Carkmaking Day and to represent the worldwide following of this HA flickr group.

So, I didn't put aprons on the hosti's! gave them dresses instead and did use some artistic licence on the colours of them... but you get the gist of what I was thinking!

Printed the digital friendship definition and layered a clipart globe on top. Stamped 8 of my little friends from CL305 and paper pieced the dresses on each. Sentiment from CL184 and CL305.

Thanks for peeking ♥!

Thanks to skeletal mess for the texture

My favorite church steeple in downtown Grand Rapids... I was going through my old shots and realized I never posted this.

I was fiddling around in CS3 today ... yeah, yeah what else is new but what I wanted to do was add a shadow to the image. I never seem to get it right so I did this, added a shadow and the only way I know of to see if it worked for putting up on Flickr, is to actually put it up so here goes. While I was at it I had to use a word for Dictionary ... couldn't not.

Okay .... hmmph!

Crap ... the shadow doesn't show ... going to try again ... then I can delete this if need be. Darn it, I had a shadow showing in photoshop ... does anyone know if you have to flatten the layers first in order for it to show? Yes David I save as Jpeg for Flickr ... Or another way so you can keep the layers open in order to work on it again? I do save as PSD first so I've answered my own question, must have been tired. It looked so nice ... oh piffle.

Yesterday, while making the chocolate/mint card, I had another idea for a card. I made more of those "friendship flowers", stitched other buttons to them, made a bucket to put them in, sewn pearls to the ribbon and here's my card! No sentiment though, it was not really needed. Let the flower power speak!

Kyori models with a diorama piece I found on ebay Germany a few weeks ago, the high definition sofa :)

I really like how it is made, very detailed and true to the original design. It even comes with pillows and a carpet which is nice when you do not have a large fund of diorama pieces :)

And, I must mention how much I like this Kyori, especially when she wears pink ;) Se just photographs sooooo well!

I asked Anna if she was proud of herself and she said, "Yes!" We then got her to agree to let Miss Laura fly the plane and Anna could just be a passenger. She agreed to that too!

For this card, I used a page from a 1940s dictionary I picked up at an estate sale, and lots of distress inks! The flowers were punched out after stamping the Houndstooth Background, and then the edges distressed with a bit more ink. The leaves were sprayed with shimmering mist and distressed with a blade. And the "hello" sentiment is from the Clear Design H set.

On March 6, 2017, FDNY launched its first ever tethered drone to respond to a fire in a 6-story building on Crotona Park North in the Bronx.

The $85,000 FDNY tethered drone weighs 8 pounds and incorporates both a high-definition camera and infrared camera. These capabilities allow the drone to transmit live images of a fire operation to the Chief in charge of the incident. The drone’s camera allows Chiefs at the command post to see where Firefighters are operating on the roof of a building and to make decisions to help suppress the fire and keep FDNY members safe. The image is fed directly to the Incident Commander and is also shared with senior decision makers in the Fire Department through the FDNY Operations Center.

"We deployed the drone for the first time in support of a 4th alarm fire in the Bronx,” says FDNY Director of FDNY Operations Center, Timothy Herlocker. “We were able to get a good view of the roof, which allowed the Incident Commander on the ground to view the Firefighters as they were conducting roof operations, venting the roof and putting water on the fire."

“This fire was helped by our drone, said Deputy Assistant Chief Dan Donoghue, the incident commander at the 4th alarm fire. “The roof started to fail and we had a lot of great radio reports but that’s only verbal, so with the drone we had good visual pictures and it really helped us make decisions to put this fire out and keep our members safe.”

The FDNY drone is tethered using a small cable that carries electricity up to the device, which gives the drone an unlimited flight time. The drone can stay aloft for as long as necessary to keep an aerial view on the target. All controls, data, and power transmit back and forth through the tether preventing interference with radio frequency signals. The drone is piloted by specially trained FDNY Firefighters from the Department’s Command Tactical Unit. The Department currently has three drones in its fleet to deploy as needed.

“This new technology is going to make a positive impact in our fire operations,” said Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro. “The drone’s camera gives our Chiefs a view they never had before. It’s an important tool that will make our members, and the people we protect, even safer.”

FDNY works closely with the FAA to ensure the drone operates safely and adheres to all rules and policies regarding airspace in New York City. The Fire Department Operations Center contacts the FAA prior to flying the drone for permission to deploy at night, or into FAA Class B Air Space - the FAA’s most restricted air space. Approval takes approximately ten minutes and takes place while the drone and its operators are responding to a fire.
