Perfect timing with my arbitrary definitions of seasons, we got 2 feet of snow on December 1st. I will also include the aftermath in this album, cleaning up on December 2nd, and roof raking later in the week. Strangely, we have not had anything near this bad again as of February 16th. We had a few storms of a few inches, which is fine with me - the perfect amount for skiing. Lately though it's been only ice storms - a bit of snow, then a lot of sleet and freezing rain, then rain which waterlogs it, then back to snow and it all freezes. It has been horrible to clean that up, sometimes several times a week, so at this point I hope the groundhog is right.
Side note - Part of my New Year's Resolution was to catch up on Flickr. I am doing that, but it takes a long time. I have set an unrealistic goal to finish the winter album by March 1st. I haven't started it yet.

This video is my first attempt at a High Definition, High Dynamic Range Time Lapse Video. This was done using a Nikon D300 and the interval timing function. I set the camera to auto bracket 5 shots at 1ev steps, then told the camera to take 850 intervals each consisting of 5 shots, with 4 seconds in between each interval. So basically every 4 seconds the camera took a 5 shot HDR for me. Then I downloaded all the images (almost 4500!) and batch processed the HDRs in Photomatix Pro 3 which took about 6 hours or more. Then I imported all the final HDR frames into Quicktime Pro and set them to play at 24 frames per second. This is the end result! I think it turned out decent. You will see flickering which was a result of using aperture mode instead of manual. I thought it would be better to use A mode given the changing light but when the camera is auto metering it results in darker and lighter shots depending on the overall light in the scene. So next time I do this it's manual all the way! This was done with a Sigma 10-20mm at F8 and F5.6 as it got darker.

I got my inspiration to create this picture during my research based on Cyprus war 1974 and Syria war 2015. We are the map of the earth creating the wars with our hands trying to control each others government with the use of guns and hate.
A ghost town by definition, Cairo, Illinois is extremely rich in history, though much of it is very sad. Located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers at the southernmost tip of Illinois, it is, by far, one of the strangest cities I’ve ever visited and I was immediately intrigued by the empty streets and abandoned and crumbling buildings. In the end, Cairo died from racism
Yes, Cairo's history is sad, but it is nonetheless fascinating, spans more than 150 years, and represents an important piece of American History that should never be forgotten. There are current efforts to revive the town, but it has been declining for decades. Hopefully, these efforts will work as the clock continues to tick on Cairo, that without revitalization, is destined to become a true “ghost town.”

Central Oregon is a geographic region in the U.S. state of Oregon and is traditionally considered to be made up of Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook counties. Other definitions include larger areas, often encompassing areas to the north towards the Columbia River, eastward towards Burns, or south towards Klamath Falls. These three counties have a combined population of 153,558 as of the 2000 census, with Deschutes the largest of the three counties, having approximately four times the population of the other two counties combined. As of 2008, the most populous city in the region is Bend, with an estimated 80,995 residents.[1] As defined by the three county definition, Central Oregon covers 7,833 square miles (20,290 km2) of land.
The region is located in the middle of the state with the Cascade Range to the west dividing the state from north to south, and the smaller Ochoco Mountains to the east. Portions of the region are part of a basalt plateau formed by the Columbia River Basalt Group, others are part of the slopes of the Cascades, and others part of the Basin and Range. The climate of the area is primarily arid due to the rain shadow effect of the Cascades on the western boundary of the region. Outdoor recreational activities, timber, and ranching are the primary economic activities.
Dillon Falls is the second of three major waterfalls along the Deschutes River near Bend. Like nearby Lava Island Falls, Dillon Falls hasn’t been widely documented or publicized because it is quite difficult to see the majority of the falls. Trails, however, provide much better views of Dillon Falls – enough so that a proper rating can be achieved. Now, the make up of the falls could be in dispute, depending on whom you ask. The falls are said to drop 65 feet over 1/3 of a mile of run, but that stretches the concept of a waterfall pretty thin. There is a substantial 15-foot drop at the top of the falls, followed by a long series of violent rapids. The book A Waterfall Lover’s Guide to the Pacific Northwest calls the whole thing 40 to 60 feet tall, and, depending on the edition, gives it as many as four (of five) stars. I say it’s a 15-foot waterfall followed by a long series of violent rapids.
Smith Rock State Park is a state park located in central Oregon's high desert near the towns of Redmond and Terrebonne. Its sheer cliffs of tuff and basalt are ideal for rock climbing of all difficulty levels. Smith Rock is generally considered the birthplace of modern American sport climbing, and is host to cutting-edge climbing routes.
In addition to the world-famous rock climbing, Smith Rock State Park is host to many miles of hiking trails, the meandering Crooked River and views of the volcanic peaks of Oregon's Cascade Range. Much of the 1994 film adaptation of the 1976 book Even Cowgirls Get The Blues was filmed within view of Smith Rock. Partial filming for the 1997 feature The Postman took place on location, while it additionally appeared in Swordfish in following years. Several westerns have been filmed here, including the John Wayne and Katharine Hepburn film Rooster Cogburn. The Rockhard building at the park entrance was built as a movie set for this film, portrayed as "Kates Saloon".

There is approx 0.3cm of black frame showing around the page, and the frame is 3cm deep. The dimensions of this design can vary very slightly depending on the dictionary I am using at the time.
Hmmm... I admit, this has a bit a different mood, compared to the others. (Maybe it's even not good...) But well, after a while... this "period" becomes tiring, that's why.
I actually just thought, I never drink that much coke and use so many of those markers as, well... during the exams.
Ow, yes... probably the statement is even not true, I don't know if it there ever has been a research on this subject ;) As all the other definitions, it's just a point of view, just one side of the reality.
Anyway... is this worthy to be defined 5.0.? Or shall I look for another one?

Statue of "Victory" Earl Robert's Monument Park Circus Kelvingrove Park
Monument to Earl Roberts, of Kandahar. Equestrian portrait statue of Robert's in military uniform on his horse Volonel. The pedestal incorporates a continuous frieze of military figures below the statue plinth, two allegorical figures of 'Victory' and 'War' seated at the east and west faces of the pedestal, and bronze copies of Roberts' Decorations and Orders set into the pedestal (See MRN: WL/011/2)
The statue is a copy of the Monument to Earl Roberts erected on the Maidan, Calcutta, in 1898. Henry Poole assisted Bates on the original monument and received the commission for the Glasgow monument after being proposed to Glasgow Corporation by Bates' widow
Earl Roberts, of Kandahar (1832-1914). Field Marshall in British Army. Volonel: A pure Arab stallion, born and bred in the desert and purchased after much haggling from the horse dealer Abdul-al-Rahman in Bombay, 1878. Standing a little over 14 hands high, Volonel was nevertheless sturdy enough to carry Lord Roberts through all his campaigns, including the famous march from Kabul to Kandahar and the relief of Ladysmith. He paced behind the State Coach at Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, was decorated for valour in the field, and died in Dublin in 1901. He was buried with full military honours. (1)
