Shot on Ilford HP5-Plus medium format film with Bronica ETRSi.
Developed in Kodak D-76. I have only developed two rolls of film so far with D-76 (both HP5), but I have to say I really like the way it looks, at least with HP5. I am going to definitely be trying it with some other film stocks.

An alternative Valentine image, ish, sort of, in a manner of speaking.

I use Vimeo for my videos since flickr isn't a good video host. Extended high definition helmet cam footage of this clip can be found here:
I re-worked my rose painting deepening the blue to make the roses stand out more.
The paints I used were Winsor and Newton Artists' Water colours- Aureolin Yellow, Indian Yellow, Raw Sienna, Cerulean Blue, Permanent Rose, Rose Dore and Potter's Pink.
I re-worked the painting with some turquoise and viridian.
I think I prefer the softness of the 1st version.

Beware the Snallygaster!
For those who have suspected that I've made up the word (whenever pointing out a half submerged log or other bit of suspicious looking flotsam in the water, or warning someone of a dark mysterious something-or-other in the woods), there really is such a thing as a snallygaster. You've just got to have a really big unabridged dictionary to find it. I've always known it to be associated with the tidewater area of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, but apparently it originated farther west in the State. Who knows, maybe it stalks your neighborhood too.

This new definition for Earth's "waterway cycle" includes the two parts of our water cycle that are absent from the current water cycle definitions being taught by USGS and other educational sources. The old definition being taught today only includes the atmospheric water cycle and fails to include information on the “cosmic water cycle” and the “oceanic water cycle.” This new definition includes all three “interactive” water cycles – the Oceanic Water Cycle, Atmospheric Water Cycle, and Cosmic Water Cycle.
I got the idea from MissTorRee. She had a funny comment on my first definiton and I figured I might as well follow what she said. Unfortunately the grain is pretty prominent because of the high ISO, and my handwriting failed me on the last word, but I had to follow what I was writing on that mirror, and I still like the picture. :)
Also, I've been wanting to start on a 52 weeks project, but I want to start epically (word?). I can't just start on some random day, so when do I start? My birthday is too far away :( Suggestions?
La leyenda en español no puede caber aquí :( Bastante lo que dice es que la foto es de comentario de MissTorRee en esta foto.
Tambien he querido empezar al proyecto 52 semanas, pero quiero empezar un dia especial. Ideas?

This image took two weeks to complete. It was so worth it. I think it might be my favourite so far. And yes, that is a recurring character you spy.

Anti-Liminal Space (7A.1)
A liminal space in the physical sense is the threshold; a place where there is no visible beginning or end and actions seem to have no visible effect, while time does not appear to pass in the slightest. Abandoned buildings and highways are examples of liminal spaces. By definition, an art building is an anti-liminal space; there is visible and constant proof of things changing and actions being undertaken. Paintings are painted, and sculptures and are sculpted, and drawings are drawn. Even if you never see the creator of the work, the process of creation is visibly recorded by the observer. While there is no sense of permanence, everything changes, and everything has a beginning and an ending. In this photograph I’ve chosen to mask the anti-liminal space (the 5th floor drawing classroom) using Photoshop, while making visible the people who create work in it, in order to make visible how it is their actions that shape the space.
Facets of the Self (7A.2)
To reveal the true self is not to reveal only one self but a paradoxical multiplicity. As observed by the fictional Dr. Jekyll, (wo)man may not only be two people in one, but many people in one. Which true self is THE true self? Which of the true selves is the falsest self? What is behind the mask, really? Can it be made visible without utterly confusing the observer? The photo was taken in broad daylight, so I used a very high shutter speed. Later in the process I used Photoshop to create the multiple selves that appear in the outline of her body.
Little White Shadows at Work (7B.1)
This is a piece meant to accompany 7A.1, and it showcases the opposite; instead of showing the processes and acting forces that create the anti-liminal space, it conceals them under a fog, showing them to be nothing but shadows made of light. They take up space in the photograph, but they are as the casual observer of the space perceives them; invisible forces that facilitate the passage of time in space that would be liminal had it remained untouched. I used a low shutter speed to make up for the lack of light in the room, and Photoshop to create the foggy mask.
Virtually Unpresent (7B.2)
The masked entity is a non-person, simply from lack of exposing their self. It elicits fear in others to see someone who conceals- rather, refuses to reveal- their face and identity. This brings up questions; if everyone were entitled to hide their identity in public, would they do it? The answer is yes, especially in the digital age when millions of people interact and converse online while being blind to each other’s identities. Could this be the most genuine and honest way to go about one’s life, by sacrificing all consequence? Can the relationships forged in the chaos of anonymity be the most honest and true, because if you never expect to meet this person, what do you have to hide? Certainly a question for the digital age. This photo was retouched similarly to 7A.2, with the multiple selves positioned in a more distinctly cartoonish outline, to play up the unreality of this representation.
Boff Brand (7C)
A digitally constructed lampoon of readily available brand identities; I was inspired by some of the knock-off parodies that appear in fictional works when the author doesn’t want to use real brands, as well as the Dadaistic humor of some online memes. I rearranged letters on labels and made ample use of exaggerated contrast until the image no longer resembled anything realistic- in essence it is a cartoon of a photo.
Remember that Energy is the ability to do work. So imagine the work we're interested in is smashing an old car. We're going to drop something on it. What will apply the most force over the largest distance (to crush the car?) Massive objects and objects that fall from great heights. We say such objects store potential energy. It's "potential" energy because when the object is just sitting up high, the energy isn't being released. No work is being done. But once you let the object fall, it gains a new type of energy that could do some work. We'll learn about this type later. Note that potential energy is a great way to store energy. Just put something heavy up high and as long as its safely up there, it's storing your energy.
