These images were created for a series I made into a book.
I was mapping myself and those involved.
Each one is a portrait of a person who has had a significant impact on me at some point or throughout my life.
The objects they hold are representing someone who has been a significant impact on them.
Hands are individual and unique. By having them hold an object I can accurately represent someone without using a typical portrait. It also gave me the leeway to expand the project to involve an aspect of someone significant to them instead of just them being significant to myself.
These photos aren't identifying of Houston, but I wanted to experiment with my camera settings and light.
I did take this into Photoshop and edit it a bit. I experimented with cropping it to see which compositions I liked better.
This was done on manual setting, no flash
Another attempt to define gravity feed airbrushes.
GIMP is free, but evil... so I only curse at it while I'm using it...
To help me get some practice at shooting bands, I'm working with a local rehearsal room and offering free shoots to bands that rehearse there.
Unfortunately, A World Defined pulled the short straw of rehearsing in the new studio there which is a sickening green colour and didnt make for a great ambience :)
