Defiant of Time
The tales this tree could tell if it was able to speak. It is probably centuryâs old and looks battered and weathered but it has persevered. It has defied man, nature, time, wars and is still going strong looking all wise and ominous with its tentacle-like branches reaching out in the sky.

As I said yesterday, todays shot feature a selection of heritage buildings around inner Brisbane and mainly in the Fortitude Valley area. I haven't finished with them yet nor some murals for which the area is well known. This is the first and is the old Defiance Flour Mill at 109/111 Constance Street, Fortitude Valley. It is now several entertainment venues including bars, restaurants etc.
It sticks out in my mind as the railway into the City runs past the back of the old mill and once had a small siding which was part of Brunswick Street railway yard. It was the last place that I can remember seeing a steam loco shunting before they were eliminated around Brisbane although I have no doubt I saw quite a few afterward, it's just how the memory picks out a particular scene to have prominence!
This is how I decide to keep the new doll or not LOL The Neo Romantic Rayna appeared to be similar to Natalia Prestige and Defiant Rayna so she didnt stay.

This hawk was hiding so well that I almost missed it. He was eating the blossoms and just hanging out. Beautiful bird but look at the talons on him. Defiantly will put a hurting on anything it decided to grab.

It’s my first mash-up, and was a bit tricky to figure out the Outfit Studio at first but I think I got the hang of it now. Hopefully the first of many mash-ups to come, but.. who bloody knows with me.

DRS 68005 Defiant about to depart Lowestoft on the short set to Norwich. The GE Signalbox dates from 1885 with a S&F 61 lever Duplex frame installed in 1905.When the box closes in the near future I think the railway will have had their moneys worth.

St Clair Beach - Dunedin - New Zealand
Canon 5D MKII - Canon EF L Lens 17-40mm
Old Jetty ruins in St Clair beach , Dunedin NZ. On this day there was not much happening in terms of sunrise or sunset. Mostly cloudy and gloomy, snowing on the hills surrounding Dunedin. So this was taken at sunset. The tide was high and the swell was well up, around 6-8 ft. All the sand had been washed away from around the jetty where i was standing. Sand bags and rocks where all exposed, so getting down there was a little tricky.
As i waited for the right light i grabbed a coffee in one of the cafes up above the beach. I was sitting there thinking that if this was at home and there was this much swell, you wouldn't be able to move in the water. So why was it so empty .......... it was cold ...... it was around 3 degrees and dropping. So happy that i live in a warm tropical part of the world.
I gave this one a little NIK Software treatment ...... Silver Effex. The sky really didn't give much to the original image, it was a bit drab and dull. But the drama and mood of the day surrounding the swell and weather really came to life with the edit. Although i didn't see this in B&W ( obviously ) this is closer to how it all felt while i was there. Hope that makes sense to you.
Anyway .... enough rambling ...... hope you enjoy it :-)
