A few variations of these impressive rocks formations taken on our trip to Donegal. Its a pleasure to come across a place unexpectantly that is enjoyable to photograph.
Tacoma, WA's Point Defiance Park just became even more of a gem than it already was. They finally finished up a huge project that opened up "Dune Peninsula" which goes way out by the Yacht Club, a sky bridge, and another huge hill with spacious views towards the ferry lanes and Olympic Mountains. I have been patiently awaiting the opening of these new areas for a couple of years now.
The highest hill does not quite offer the Mt. Rainier view that I was hoping for but overall everything is amazing now. This shot is a quick grab from Dune Peninsula that shows one of the new smaller hills they built in that area. From these hills on the peninsula there are stunning views all the way to Tacoma's North End and Mt. Rainier. My 200-500 lens and a 95mm Breaththrough polarizer is ready to go. Of course the dog days of summer are nearly upon us which the tourists like but me.... not so much.
I used DXO Optics PhotoLab2 for the raw development and it gives great results really fast. Don't know if it will ever be a Lightroom replacement but it's lots of fun and uses Control Points for making selections for the local adjustments now.
Thank you for your warm and kind visits my friends and have a great summer of 2019!

When my son and I set out on our hike to Point Defiance, I was somewhat excited. I had never been out to this spot, and I anticipated the confluence of the three branches of the Yuba River to be a frothing wave of white water. Instead the river was as quiet as a monastery here. Still it was a beautiful day and any time spent with my son is always special.
Happy Fence Friday everyone.

This tranquil image was photographed within the Point Defiance Park Forest in Tacoma, WA. The Spring colors are showing off their green and yellow hues. The fallen tree with branch was my point of focus.

After a bit of a meandering path around the field, following the tractor tracks, I was able to get right up to the Rihanna Tree this morning. I liked the cloudy backdrop as well :)

An unused shot from 2016 - a bit grainy but in hindsight a nice, simple composition.

The always dramatic coneflower (Echinacea), a little faded but still a looker. At Point Defiance in Tacoma, Washington.

Staring at the gates, some realize peace is upon them.
Others Judgment, I don't believe in either.
I see it as my Defiance. I was taught to embrace you
I do not; I was taught you love me and others no matter
Their choices. Yet you do not you Judge on who we
Love and the choices we make. I will not be bonded by your chains of fate. Nor
Will I continue to live in a life of lies? I will
Fight my way through the depths of hell. To destroying
The gates of heaven to get my hands around you.
I will not live my life blinded by your fate and faith.
This is My Oath My Vow.
This is My Defiance.

I often wonder, what is sop special about this piece of rock, or any sea stack for that matter, that all the rock around it crumbled into the sea hundreds of years ago, but this piece still stands. I have feeling the sea will have the last laugh though.

An old woman looks off in the distance with what I perceived to be defiance, with her shopping bag in hand in front of a wine shop.
This is my daughter looking at this fake dog, yes, it's not real. It captures the defiant standing almost emulating the story of David and Goliath. Any way, it is an interesting image where the eyes meet and creates an open door for thoughts, what's going through this girl's mind at this precise moment? What would you think if you are standing right there?
