I just love this deep pink colored rose, then layered with the lighter, pastel pink, it's just beautiful! Hope you enjoy!

The moon kept rising over Sargeant Bay Provincial Park. And as it did so the Beach became a treasure of foreground elements. A log that had washed up long ago retained a branch that was defying the odds and refused to lay done. That would be the element needed to finish the shot.
Although Haywood Oaks in Sherwood Forest is mainly a pine plantation, there are scattered veteran and ancient oaks persisting in the shadows. Haywood Oaks, Nottinghamshire, UK.
The defiance of the shoreline against the eternal pounding of the ocean, early on a warm summer morning. Strange to think that water beats rock, but given time...
The other day I was thinking that I needed some new shots as I was dormant while being sick for a month. So I went trail blazing down a favourite country road. I shot this one and I thought at first when looking on the camera that it was shit. I just viewed it on the computer and sort of like that it was a bit bleached. I gave it a small bit of Lightroom love and here you have it.
Happy Fence Friday
There was some new fencing out this way and think something is going to change. More aggregate or another subdivision.

Day #24 Defiance
In Defiance,
ferociously attacking every crevice,
searching for substance,
gripping the edge of the ridge
withstanding the wind, storms, snow, and heat
thrown against her
a tree stands alone, struggling each and every day to survive
while mankind battles both
inner and external turmoil
our tenuous transient existence forever in peril
A hoverfly (Eristalis arbustorum maybe? ID help always appreciated!) visiting the gorgeous dahlias in the Point Defiance Dahlia Trial Garden in Tacoma, Washington.
Continuing my never-ending queue of Point Defiance shots! A faded rose from the Point Defiance Rose Garden in Tacoma.
I don’t normally post photos taken on my camera phone but here’s one.
It’s a solitary tree, almost stripped of its leaves, in front of Powerscourt Waterfall. It was taken earlier today when the waterfall was in full flow after several weeks of rain.

I seem to have a nearly never-ending archive of beautiful dahlia shots from the Point Defiance Dahlia Trial Garden in Tacoma, Washington.
In the face of chilly conditions some colour still remained, defying the onset of winter.

Wonderfully contrasting colors on a dahlia at the Point Defiance Dahlia Trial Garden in Tacoma, Washington.
It was a blazing hot, sunny day at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, and a small group of Mule Deer found this small shady spot in the grassland.
Most deer will stop their activity, and stare at a perceived potential danger. (Like the expression: "frozen in the car's headlights..."). After assessing the danger, they will either flee, or return to their activity. This deer did neither.
I was in my stationary car, using it as a blind. All of the other deer returned to grazing, or settled down to a seated position, but this muscular deer maintained a position of seeming defiance. I left the site, and I assume he returned to grazing.

I saw this old dead tree and it looked to me as though it had fought against the forces of nature until death and in the process, leaving defiantly.
I thought it was somewhat beautiful because it had left its mark as if to say "I was here."
I was in Potsdam, Berlin a few days ago, specifically in the business park that houses the Babelsberg Studio, and if you know your movie history you’ll know it’s relevance. The surrounding environment, much like Köpenick, is a treasure trove for Minimalist and industrial architecture. It was a perfect day for it, well-formed individualistic clouds, blue skies, bright and sunny, dry and warm. I snapped off quite a few until I got caught by security.
I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! 😊
