At Klis Fortress the Mongols experienced defeat in 1242.
During the Middle Ages, the Kingdom of Croatia was in a personal union with the Kingdom of Hungary, with Béla IV as a king.
When routed on the banks of the Sajó river (Šajo) in 1241 by the Mongols, Béla IV fled to Zagreb Croatia. Batu sent a few tumens (roughly 20,000 men at arms) under Khadan in pursuit of Bela. The major objective was not the conquest but the capture of the Arpad king. The poorly fortified Zagreb was unable to resist the invasion and was destroyed, its cathedral burned by Mongols. In preparation for a second invasion, Gradec was granted a royal charter or Golden Bull of 1242 by King Béla IV, after which citizens of Zagreb engaged in building defensive walls and towers around their settlement.
The Mongols' pursuit of Béla IV continued from Zagreb through Pannonia to Dalmatia. While in pursuit, the Mongols under the leadership of Kadan (Qadan) attacked Klis Fortress in Croatia in March 1242. Due to the strong fortifications of Klis, the Mongols dismounted and climbed over the walls using nearby cliffs. The defenders were able to inflict a number of casualties on the Mongols, which enraged the latter and caused them to fight hand to hand in the streets and gathered a sizable amount of loot from houses. As soon as they learned that King Bela was elsewhere, they abandoned the attack and split off to attack Split and Trogir.
The Mongols pursued Béla IV from town to town in Dalmatia, while Croatian nobility and Dalmatian towns such as Trogir and Rab helped Béla IV to escape. After their defeat against the Croatian soldiers, the Mongols retreated and Béla IV was awarded Croatian towns and nobility.
Some historians claim that the mountainous terrain of Croatian Dalmatia was fatal for the Mongols because of the great losses they suffered from Croat ambushes set up in mountain passes. In any case, though much of Croatia was plundered and destroyed, long-term occupation was unsuccessful.

The fashion at the moment seems to be for electric bikes that have been modded to go up to 60 mph (100 kmh) and to ride them on the pavement and pedestrian areas.
Riders are usually equipped with balaclavas or face masks, as shown here. I guess the wind chill is too awful to bear at those speeds.
I have nothing against e-bikes, per se. Just stay off the pavement/sidewalk, please.

An emotional and fatigued Rockstar looks at his former foe, the crime boss only known as Mr. Pink, realizing that he is no longer a threat to anyone anymore...
"Your reign of terror of this city is over, Pink, you are under arrest!"
Mr. Pink is not answering as he is knocked out from Rockstar's final punch to the head.
Ellie runs inside the throne room and sees the defeated Mr. Pink lying unconsciously on the floor.

Tried to replace my mailbox and post today. I suspect my neighbor knocked it over with his van, but I didn't get the project done before it got dark. I guess I'm tackling it again today.
Today has been one of those days, where all you really want to do is lay in bed, but you know that you have entirely too much to do for that...then when you do those things, everything goes wrong. I had two failed shoots today, this was a last resort and actually came from another moment of something going wrong that was actually really painful...so lets just say this emotion being portrayed is very real.

Some time later royal guards enter Troll King's lair to escort him to Fighold, a prison specifically designed for magical or enhanced evildoers...

I wanted to do a foil photo of yesterday's photo, so i decided to upload it because i think it came out somewhat nice.
Didn't find my charger for my usual camera but I found an old digital camera and I'm still trying to get used to it.
The dreams of millions of Brazilians were chattered today. I don't really follow football since I was a teenager but it was very sad to the see how Brazilians were devastated during and after the match today. There was a morbid silence in the air instead of the usual loud cheerful screams and fireworks. Football in Brazil is like a religion and it's one of the few things that brings joy to the whole nation equally regardless of social classes.
For me it's not a big deal but I know that for a lot of my friends and family today was a nightmare. And I empathize with them and I validate their feelings.
As in any bad situation I hope we can all learn from it. This is the moment to understand that we have more important things to focus on. We have presidential elections this year also and it would be so important for our country to give it our whole attention. Actually if we gave 1/5 of the World Cup attention to the election it would be such an improvement to us.
Our government has spent billions of dollars preparing for the World Cup and neglecting our country's true needs. This has to change ASAP. The corruption and violence are out of control and we as a nation have the power to change it by making wiser decisions and learning from our mistakes.
I'm sorry for pouring my opinions out but I felt that today we were defeated by reality and not by a football match. All the preparation, the money spent, the unbelievable political tug of war... all for nothing. So we better start focusing on things that really matter. I'm just sad that many Brazilians have to suffer from this too as it's already such a difficult life for so many.

Defeat at the final try of the game. Fiji 7s wins the Rugby Sevens Singapore leg 28-22 over Australia at the National Stadium.
This was the only rutting i saw on my visits to Woburn, The Stag nearest to camera turns away defeated and runs off, chased by the victor followed by some very loud bellowing :)
one of the funniest ideas for a shoot i've had yet (ideas don't come often, so this was a rarity!) i had a few hours free between "to-do's", so bryce & i figured out what to write on all the post-its, taped them all up, then i shot! (.... ok, actually this is a RESHOOT after the original... needed a fish-eye lens to really get the job done.)

for my fellow iadt shooters.... both paul & pierre & giles agreed on this shot... i swear i heard a rip in the space-time continuum, i saw the flying pigs and i felt hell freezing over. lol :)

fisheye lens meant i was actually about 1 foot from his face when i shot this! i kept getting my legs in frame, the light heads & random people walking by... funny!

Vendetta
After Vaccum's defeat by the sibling heroes known as, 'The Kingston's,' he was imprisoned, leaving his poor girlfriend 'Gasp' alone. For tearing the two apart once again Gasp organised a team of villains who all had a motive to unite and kill The Kingston's.

Gladiatron: The forgotten son of the sidekick 'Gladiator', who back in the day was Red Star's sidekick. The Kingston's father and Gladiator fought side by side and started up the corporation 'A.N.G.E.L.'. But they disagreed on whether or not a heroes identity should be known by the corporation. This led to Gladiator kidnapping Red Stars wife to prove a point about how vulnerable knowing someone's identity could make them, this only escalated the situation leading to his wife's death and a battle between the two which were never seen again when flying into the sky. The son of Gladiator then hated the Kingston family name and discovered his fathers' helmet which granted him his fathers powers, with these new abilities he would avenge his father by killing Red Star's children, The Kingston's.
Mr. Twister: Once a famous news anchor this man's career was ruined when a weather changing suit ruined his forecast causing storms the next day. He then made it his mission to find the suit and prove to the public it wasn't his fault, but when he found it and tried to show everyone they still didn't believe him. This then angered him enough to use its Twister abilities to strike, only to be defeated by The Kingston's and locked away. However, when a breakout occurred he escaped and joined the team to get revenge on the siblings.
Gasp: The lover of Vacuum who created the team after The Kingston's defeated and imprisoned her lover. She is now the feared leader of the team and the only one who's psychotic enough to keep these revenge-hungry villains together.
Hydro-Serpent: An oceanographer who became a villain after being hunted and caught by The Kingston's who believed she was harbouring illegal tech, only for her to actually be fleeing with it from those who wanted to weaponise it. Now she is hellbent on destroying them due to her exposure to the tech from being on the run so long, this then altered her body's biology making her into this creature.
Hazmat Hazard: Mat was a family man before some radioactivity altered his Meta body to become an energised powerhouse. The exposure to the material made him lose control of his new powers and destroy his home, with his wife and children inside it. When he discovered that his boss who ran the Power Plant was cutting corners with the tanks Mat was monitoring he went on a rampage to get revenge (wearing a suit to contain his abilities). Only to be thwarted by The Kingston's who saved his boss's life and locked away Mat.

Today I ran some arrends and went out for lunch. Then I had to mow the lawn and for the rest of the day I plan on enjoying the weather.

In my quest for a more realistic look I can find myself being a little self defeating.
In this instance and with the whole growing my own hair experiment I have noticed that I have aged a lot. OK not that bad I know and we all age. But with a full wig and full makeup I can look 40 something as opposed to looking 50 something .
I know that's vanity playing its part. the question is at what point do I revert back to wig and makeup? if I don't then how do I move forward especially in the hair department.
would hormones help and if so is that going to change who I am. If I go down that route am I heading for a permanent change. how do I go about it??????
