Students often rise before the sun. At 6:00, when the Feed Man sets out on his first feed run, the dairy boys are already up, half asleep and milking cows. A Farm Teamer may have been in the tractor baling hay since 4:30. All are especially thankful for the breakfast cook, who's up early preparing the morning's meal.
But they're not the only ones up. Some students pull all-nighters to get committee work done. Others sleep first and wake up excruciatingly early to do class work. At every hour of the day, there are at least a few people awake and discussing Heidegger, playing chess, or strumming guitars.....
Another Place Soundtrack is a collection of instrumental and vocal pieces shaped for late hours, dim rooms, and attentive listening. The album drifts through post-punk, coldwave, ambient noir, new wave - influenced minimalism, and dream pop - soaked shoegaze textures, built from deep sub-bass, blurred analog pads, melodic basslines, restrained drum patterns, and fragments of guitar and synth that appear, dissolve, and return altered. These tracks don’t resolve so much as inhabit space, functioning as atmosphere rather than narrative - music designed for the Another Place venue and its unfolding stories. It’s sound for standing inside time as it softens, where the outside world recedes and presence, repetition, and quiet emotional tension become the only currency.

Inside The Sound captures a late-night, personal moment inside Another Place, where low light, bass, and drifting guitars replaced conversation. Rooted in ambient noir and shoegaze textures, the song lingers in shared silence and suspended time, holding onto the quiet intimacy of being present together - inside the room, the music, and the night. It doesn’t resolve or explain the moment, choosing instead to let it breathe and repeat. What remains is a memory shaped by sound, where presence mattered more than words.

The Maryland National Guard’s 32nd Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team conducted training at Garrett College and Garrett County Airport August 20-24, 2012 in Western Maryland. The 32nd WMD-CST's mission was to build a partnership with local responders and assess the team's response and travel time. This shaft was used to construct the train tacks used in the construction of the "Deep tunnel Project" 400 feet (40 stories) underground. The 40 mile tunnel was built under the cal sag canal to relive flooding in the Chicago area. They had a really great system. There was a 40 foot cutting head that drilled the hole and as they moved forward, a track was built under the machine. Then the trailing floor rolled onto the new track. Trains would run from the main shaft carrying the rock out, there was a switching floor on the trailing floor that moved the box cars from one side to the other for the return joureny. when the train reached the main shaft, the entire car was spun round to dump the load. Really impressive system.
I had the chance to get out and take some photo's during the rain on Sunday. Its amazing what rain clouds and just the right time of day does to the sky. Really turns it deep blue at the right exposure. This shot is a bit of a blend. The sky is from the -2 exposure frame with a curves adjustment and the rest is a 5 exp HDR blend. The sky from HDR was way too ghosty so I just painted this one back in. Hope you like it!
We are having some beautiful weather lately. It's getting warmer and the snow is starting to melt away. I have tulips in the front of my house and the snow is off of them and they are starting to sprout through the soil .... spring is on it's way!

# 21 of 52 weeks of color ...actually it's only week 6 ... not 21 .. 21 is the number..hell I'm going on and on...I'm loopy .... lol...lol...
I guess I could have called it Rainy day blues too ... Ha !!! ... with my back still out of action all I could do was sit back in my comfy chair, set out the umbrella and take the shot ... hell I need the armrests on the chair to help me support my " Big Canon" .
But because of my commitment to Flickr and the group ... The show must go on ...lol...lol...
