Wow.. It's been around 3 weeks since I last logged on to Flickr.. So much has transcribed for these couple of weeks, and finally got a chance to come in.. First off, I'm back to Oregon! YAY! I'm not entirely sure how long I'll remain here, but hopefully, it will be a substantial amount of time..

The moving process has been incredibly exhausting.. Getting movers, arranging for delivery, getting the apartment set up etc etc.. But, I'm finally done for now.. Only waiting for the delivery of the couch..

Hope to be able to head out shooting soon! =)

Anyways, here's probably the last underwater shot from the Bahamas.. It's the same sea fan as my previous post, but a different comp, and a different choice of lighting. It was a challenge to keep the blowouts of the light ball to a minimum and yet expose the scene correctly. Probably took like 20 shots before I could get it to the point that I like it..

Hope you all had a great long weekend, and I will definitely be looking through all the shots that you guys posted!!

Well it's not Ian Gillan but it's definitely Deep Purple.

Deep Purple, ‘Made in Japan’, 1972. Lost a friend recently. Felt older. Found this double album lurking at the back. Gave it a whirl and enjoyed it - a reminder of simpler, happier, more innocent times when a bunch of mates ‘playing’ tennis racquets, cricket bats, bits of wood, or air guitar, in a bedroom headbanging along to loud music for hours was just heaven.

I always preferred Purple to Sabbath; better tunes and riffs. Plus, Jon Lord on keyboards fleshed the sound out. Listening to this almost 50-year-old album you can hear it’s LIVE, but also how hard, tight, and fast a unit they were. This being the famous Mark 2 version of the band with Ian Gillan on vocals. He had a great rock scream of a voice. Richie Blackmore, a guitar monster. ‘Highway Star’ is a great riff that still boogies till it blows chunks. ‘Smoke on The Water’ is, well, ‘Smoke on The Water’”, an ur-riff. It’s like ‘Stairway to Heaven’ or ‘Ace of Spades’, just part of the culture. ‘The Mule’ is Prog-tastic but still rockin’ and has a drum solo from Ian Paice. I know. Throw rocks at it! Except, it’s been years since I heard a drum solo. It’s fun, (though I still avoid Ginger Baker doing ‘Toad’). ‘Strange Kind of Woman’ a sleazy riff with dirty keyboards and breakdown where Richie noodles and gets the crowd clapping. ‘Lazy’ distorted keyboards finally bursting into fast boogie shuffle. ‘Child in Time’ all swirly keyboard, slowly building with Gillan screaming, then exploding into full pelt rock stomping, then receding and repeating the trick. Deep, man. ‘Space Truckin’’ takes up all of Side 4. A massive jam, moving from simple cymbal tapping and keyboard chords to full on attack, everything akimbo and flying.

It’s all nonsense of course, but back in the days of longhair, denim, Vietnam, Bloody Sunday, Three Day Week, three TV channels, etc etc stuff like this spoke to The Youth - when the counterculture meant something and a record collection was a simple way of expressing who you were and your values. In dreams begin responsibilities…

experimented with milk finally! As much as i hate doing self-portraits especially when it comes to having to multitask in an unstable situations like this one where my camera was so close to the bathtub and i was constantly getting in and out of the tub. I was left with no other option !

This vodka is not your college shooter by any means. Rather than mixing up a Cesar and piling in the Tabasco the best way to realize the flavour Deep Cove has produced is to sip. In a small glass the aroma is light and mellow. A vodka-boozyness is present but alongside is a malt-based sweetness that mellows the aroma nicely

at last I've found deep love

now I will keep love forever inside.

Take a deep breath

and do it!

The DEEPSEA CHALLENGER Expedition included two telephone-booth-sized mechanical landers. They were developed by American Kevin Hardy, retired engineer from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California at San Diego, to conduct scientific experiments.

THe landers free-fall at a rate of 1 metre per second and ascend with the flotation devices that include Isofloat foam to achieve 2/3 fixed and 1/3 variable buoyancy. This mans that up to 1/3 of the mass of the lander is in the form of ballast weights that can be partially offloaded to slow its descent and dropped to allow the craft to ascend.

At the surface the lander sends an acoustic signal of its location to be collected. DOV (deep ocean vehicle) Mike recovered prawn-like amphipods using a trap baited with raw chicken.

The smaller animals (Hirondellea and Lysianassidae) were recovered from the Middle Pond of the Mariana Trench. Investigation has revealed that they contain scyllo-inositol, a compound being tracked as a possible treatment for Alzheimer's Disease.
