The dedication of St. Therese of Carmel, May 4, 2007.
This provided me with an opportunity to try some high ISO shots (1600). Shot in Nikon raw mode. With the large CF cards available now there is little reason not to shoot raw.
Neeling provided me the opportunity to use the back of the pew for support. Tweaked slightly with Adobe Light Room but pretty much straight out of the camera.

To make the journey between Lisbon and Almada you should try to go by ferry boat. It is a pleasant journey and you can play with the ropes too :)

This museum will touch the life of everyone who enters and leave everyone forever changed - a place of deep sadness and a sanctuary of bright hope; an ally of education against ignorance, of humility against arrogance, an investment in a secure future against whatever insanity lurks ahead. If this museum can mobilize morality, then those who have perished will thereby gain a measure of immortality.

James O'Neil was a longtime Friend of the Library and former Erie Library Advisory Board Member. Last night at the Board Meeting we dedicated a Norman Rockwell print, The Bookworm in his memory. His widow, Ginney and his family were in attendance.
I decided to play around a little with one of my images, trying to give it sort of an oil painting look. What can I say? I had a long and busy week at work, so I wanted to do something fun ... :o)
"Dedication or gift plaque" The Monthly Scavenger Hunt #6 May.
This bronze plaque is on the wall of an apartment building nearby. Väinö Linna (1920-1992) was one of the most influential Finnish authors of the 20th century. He shot to immediate literary fame with his third novel, Tuntematon sotilas (The Unknown Soldier, published in 1954) and he lived in this building when he wrote the book. That's what the plaque says - "Tässä talossa kirjoitettu 1954" means "Written in this house 1954".
This plaque is designed by Mauno Kivioja and ordered by VVO, a company providing housing services. The plaque was attach to this wall in September 2004, 50 years after the book was published.
