They were finally seated in Orchestra - and she found out she's in First Chair. She managed to hold on to that position all of last year, and she working hard to do it again. I never have to remind her to practice - and she works through even the most frustrating sessions. I am GRATEFUL for her dedication to playing this beautiful instrument.

Created for Enchanted Parks 2012, 'Glass House' is a celebration of the works of William Wailes. The entire visual element was made by reworking photographs of his original stained glass to fit the architecture.
Saltwell Towers, the home of the renowned Victorian stained glass artist William Wailes, began construction in 1854. That same year, the industrial heart of Gateshead was destroyed in the Great Fire. The fire and subsequent devastating explosion, triggered by chemical reaction, opened the way for the rebirth of Gateshead. This rebirth is echoed in the destructive fires of the glass furnace creating the pure colours of stained glass.
‘Glass House’ celebrates Wailes’ work, juxtaposing the chemical reactions involved in Victorian stained glass making against the Great Fire of 1854, the rebuilding of the city with the revival of the Gothic style of his work. It utilises images of Wailes’ windows, including his tributes to his own children, with glass sounds and spoken texts taken from diverse sources such as accounts of the 1854 fire and the enthusiastic reception of Wailes’ work at the 1851 Great Exhibition in Crystal Palace.
Thanks to:
The original photography of the stained glass was by Shaun Thubron.

After the Kuman New Testament dedication, the celebration continued into
the evening and on into the night at several area churches.
The Kuman people number about 120,000 and are found in the northern part
of Simbu Province in Papua New Guinea. Kuman is the 3rd largest
language group in the country.
First contact with the outside world occurred in the early 1930s.
Several denominations came in and planted churches at that time. Early
missionaries learned the language, worked on the alphabet, and did some
translation work, but translation work came to a halt by the early 1970s.
SIL placed Dunc and Mary Pfantz in the language group in 1988 as a joint
program with the Bible Society. They mentored a team of national
translators from various denominations and areas of the language group.
Over the years, literacy materials, scripture portions, and the Jesus
video were produced. The complete New Testament in Kuman was dedicated
on June 27, 2008, in Kundiawa, the provincial capital of the province.

Do you know why the Kahului Airport code is OGG? The code of this Hawaiian Airlines hub is named after Captain Jimmy Hogg, an accomplished pilot who started his career as a mechanic’s helper with Inter-Island Airways of Hawaii then later became the Captain of Flight Operation for Hawaiian Airlines. Now, a wall in the airport shares the story of Captain Hogg.
