Dedicated in 2004, this Boone County Kentucky park contains 43 acres and has a 1.3 mile paved path with a great view of the Ohio River. There are porta potty's and picnic shelters at both ends of the trail. Located on the downriver end of rural route 8, it's never crowded and litter free. It's a gem for a little solitude.

Dedicated to the saints Bartholomew, Mark and John the Baptist, it was built between 1472 and 1476 as the personal shrine for the condottiere Bartolomeo Colleoni, a member of one of the most outstanding families of the city, and his beloved daughter Medea. The site chosen was that of the sacristy of the nearby church of Santa Maria Maggiore, which was demolished by Colleoni's soldiers. The design was entrusted to Giovanni Antonio Amadeo, whose plan respected the style of the church, as can be seen from the octagonal tambour of the dome and in the lantern cusp, as well as in the use of polychrome marbles.
Капелла Коллеони – это шедевр ренессансной архитектуры. Построили достопримечательность в XV ст. и после этого не переделывали (лишь реставрировали), что является редким случаем для Италии. Эту необычайно красивую постройку, облицованную разноцветным мрамором, возвели по велению Бартоломео Коллеони (Bartolomeo Colleoni) на месте северо-западной апсиды Санта-Мария-Маджоре. Её снесли по его приказу солдаты. Строительство достопримечательности поручили архитектору Джованни Антонио Амадео (Giovanni Antonio Amadeo), который при разработке проекта учитывал архитектурные особенности базилики Санта-Мария-Маджоре. В результате капелла получилась небольшая, выполненная в форме восьмиугольника, а венчал её ребристый купол.

Fields dedicated to flower bulb production generate gorgeous agricultural landscapes in spring. There is however a sad part in this picture. Bulb production is one of the most contaminant activities in agriculture, with heavy chemical inputs, including systemic pesticides that end up in your garden, affecting the pollinators visiting the flowers. Estimates for the Netherlands reach an astonishing average of 100 kg of active pesticides per ha and 310 and 130 kg of nitrogen and phosphate per ha, respectively (Jansma et al 2002 Acta Hortic 570:191-204). The sad result is that those fields are abiotic, an artificial industrial spring with no bees and butterflies. And that muteness can reach your garden if you plant those bulbs. What to do? Choose organic bulbs (or simply do not buy them).

The Princess Theatre was Hopkinsville’s first theater dedicated solely to moving pictures. Located on the south side East Ninth Street between Main and Virginia streets, the 600-seat theater opened on November 27, 1911 with the original name of the Photoplay Palace. The Princess closed and reopened a number of times between its first movie in 1911 to its last in 1972. Following a destructive fire in 1942, the structure was rebuilt with the Art Deco facade that graces East Ninth Street to this day (as seen in the photograph above).

I visit the U.S. National Arboretum more than any other place in the greater Washington DC area; it's just a few minutes from my home. I take a photo of the iconic Capitol Columns every time I visit. Fall is the best season for color in front of the columns.

I dedicated this series to that special album of Genesis »Wind and wuthering«. Having used the title of the song »Afterglow«, Giovanni had asked about a picture with the title »One for the vine«. Here it comes....
Some words about the making of that series:
On my way to the summit of Montscheinspitze, near to sunset hefty wind was chasing the clouds and soonly they were covering the mountains. During a few minutes, the sun was still visible but fading more and more behind the clouds. This led to a very special atmosphere and I could take a series of shots as I was lucky to be at some viewpoints with a beautiful foreground, finally ocassionally as I was a bit slow with my rucksack with a lot of heavy stuff. This picture was merged from 2 hand-held shots.
A flickr friend sent me the cutest pair of socks after I commented about how cute hers were and demanded she send me some immediately!! Hahahaha.... Mental note to self.... Must be more demanding cos I really like it when I get what I want!! ;)
Oh and be on the look out cos I think there are few sets of flickr feet sporting these PINKALICIOUS socks today!! ;)

BTW I only got to enjoy them for a couple of minutes before my daughter confiscated them to wear to school today!! Next time could you please send TWO sets of socks!! Bahahaha

Dedicated to Don ( www.flickr.com/photos/dgjean/ ) because hi can feel the magic of light which is difficult to capture with the camera but almost possible only with the heart.
I suppose this picture will not find the consideration of the most of you, because it does not respect all the rules of photography.
Neverthless I post it because I love and I’m fascinated and inspired so much by the light in all its appearances. I like this strong flash of light through a chimney and how this poor dark room is partly illuminated.

Credo che questa foto non piacerà come altre perché non c’è un soggetto chiaramente identificabile, il rumore è notevole e c’è anche molta sfocatura. Possono apprezzarla solo coloro che come me, amano immensamente la luce, in tutte le sue espressioni. Era una stanzetta piccola, povera, in un paesino del Pakistan. Da un'apertura nel soffitto (creata per far uscire il fumo del focolare) entrava la luce ed illuminava il pavimento di terra battuta che a sua volta rimandava la luce in quel buio profondo.

When I saw these lovely orange ones sitting near my compost pile today I was quite thrilled and spent some time on my hands and knees in the rain trying to get an interesting shot. Hubby laughed when I came in and said. "Did you fall in? You are dirtier than the cat on a rainy day!"
