This memorial is dedicated to the
‘diggers’ of the Australian Army
who fought on the African Veldt,
in the trenches of France, in the
Western Desert and in the jungles
of the Pacific and South East Asia.
Since the unified Australian Army was formed in 1901,
’diggers’ have taken part in many conflicts, including two
world wars. Since 1947 the Australian Army has participated
in many international peacekeeping operations. The
sculpture is entitled ‘Every Mother’s Son’ because ‘the Army
is about people - about infantrymen who can be anyone’s
sons, husbands, fathers or brothers’. The soldiers are not
shown in formal uniforms but in their ‘jungle greens’, on
patrol - alert, wary and protective of each other.
Springfield, Illinois
The Illinois Firefighter Memorial is dedicated to the firefighters of Illinois, who have given their lives in the line of duty and to those firefighters who heroically serve with courage, pride and honor.
The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, working with the Secretary of State's office and a nationally recognized sculptor, developed a memorial in which the fire service of Illinois will be proud. The artist designed and constructed an original bronze work of art consisting of four life-size figures of firefighters in full gear, a child, a ladder, and hose. Each adult figure is approximately 6ft 2in tall if in a standing position and represents the firefighters in full protective clothing, in action. The art was created through the "lost wax" method of bronze casting and is finished in an antique bronze fire-on patina suitable for exterior exhibition, signed and dated by the artist. The figures are situated on a cairn 14 feet high consisting of Renaissance stone. There are 2,400 red paver bricks which are enclosed by a 2 foot wall with capstones engraved with contributor's names.
It is here each year, at the Illinois Firefighter Memorial, that we honor those who have made the supreme sacrifice. The Annual Illinois Fallen Firefighter Memorial and Firefighter Medal of Honor Awards Ceremony is held each year in early May.

A red rose so dark it looks like a black rose, this hardy shrub rose looks almost burnt in the bright sun. The petals are velvety dark red.
On May 14, 1910 Canada launched it's first official Navy. In 2010 part of the 100 year celebration included dedication and naming of this rose, developed by Agriculture Canada and grown by J.C. Bakker Nurseries. It is dedicated to Canadian women who served in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service, known as the Wrens.

New Hanover County Fire Rescue dedicated Fire Engine 16, the department’s newest fire truck on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Fire Station 16 in Ogden. With state-of-the-art technology, this new engine will help Fire Rescue continue to provide excellent fire and life safety services in New Hanover County and the Ogden community.
The new fire engine is a 2016 Pierce Enforcer. It is rated to provide more than 1,500 gallons of water per minute, while carrying 1,000 gallons of water. The unit features a Class-A Foam System, which helps extinguish fires, as well as updated displays and readouts to monitor the unit’s performance. The engine has increased safety features and a redesigned compartment configuration that allows more equipment to be carried.

Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga
Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deities Shiva and Parvati, located at Srisailam in Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is significant to the Hindu sects of both Shaivam and Shaktam as this temple is referred to as one of the twelve Jyothirlingas of Lord Shiva and as one of the eighhteen Shakti Peethas of goddess Parvati. Shiva is worshiped as Mallikarjuna, and is represented by the lingam. His consort Parvati is depicted as Brahmaramba. It is the only temple in India which is revered as both Jyotirlinga and Shaktipeeth.
When Shiva and Parvati decided to find suitable brides for their sons, Ganesha and Kartikeya argued as to who is to get wedded first. Shiva bade that the one who goes round the world in Pradakshinam could get married first. By the time Kartikeya could go round the world on his vahana, Ganesha went round his parents 7 times (for according to Shastras, going in pradakshinam round one's parents is equivalent to going once round the world (Bhupradakshinam)). Siva got Buddhi(intellect), Siddhi (spiritual power), and Riddhi (prosperity) married to Ganesha. kartikeya on his return was enraged and went away to stay alone on Mount Kraunja in the name of Kumarabrahmachari. On seeing his father coming over to pacify him, he tried to move to another place, but on the request of the Devas, stayed close by. The place where Siva and Parvati stayed came to be known as Shrishailam
Srisailam Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peetha. The legend of Daksha yaga and Sati's self immolation resulted in the emergence of Sri Parvati in the place of Sati Devi and making Shiva a house holder. This mythology is the story behind the origin of Shakti Peethas. They are holy abodes of Adiparashaktiformed due the falling of Sati Devi's corpse when Shiva carried it and wandered. It is believed that Sati Devi's Upper lip has fallen here

Dedicated to St Paul the Apostle and completed in 1710, St Paul's was designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren to replace the earlier Gothic cathedral that was largely destroyed in the Great Fire of London.
At 365 feet (111 metres) high, it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1963.
Look through my old slide films and found my trip to Stockholm, Sweden on May 22nd to 25th, 2012. Pictures were using Nikon Coolpix P510 point and shoot camera.
I visited the Viking Museum only 15 minutes before they closed. I took a very quick walk to see the Viking ship and took some pictures. The Viking museum, a museum entirely dedicated to the Viking Age, through an exhibition and a Viking Journey - Ragnfrid´s Saga. Vikingaliv is based on historical facts combined with the most recent discoveries of Viking history. The Viking Museum is situated at Djurgarden.

This year, we dedicated 5 beautiful families: 3 on Howe Drive and 2 on Cherry Street. With a formal ceremony, Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region presented these families their new homes. They all worked so hard to put in their 500 'sweat equity' hours, and in turn, hour by hour, these brave and dedicated families built their homes and conquered their journey and accomplished their DREAMS!
They have morphed from Partner Family to Homeowners. CONGRATULATIONS all of you.

Dear Fly,
I swatted you out of the air and I thought I smashed you with a large free weekly newspaper, but you kept spinning around on your back like a breakdancer on the floor. I covered the paper with a jar and moved you to the refrigerator where I thought you'd sleep the sleep of Bonn Scott. When you came to your senses, you angrily banged on the glass for 13 days. My friends and I even would come in buzzed at night and blow smoke under the glass with a straw. You played possum a couple of times. After 13 days when you moved no more, I flushed you down the toilet. You're probably doing the backstroke somewhere right now.

Memorial Chapel dedicated to the York and Lancaster Regiment which formed in 1758 and disbanded in 1968. The 12th (Sheffield City) Battalion of the York and Lancaster Regiment was formed in 1914 and was also known as the 'Sheffield Pals'. Many of its members were killed on 1 July 1916 on the first day of the Battle of the Somme in the First World War.
Bronze sculpture dedicated in 2008 in commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the actions of the US Army 1st Division in May 1918. The US Army infantrymen became known as the "Lions of Cantigy"
On the morning of May 28th, 1918, the 28th Infantry Regiment, US First Division, American Expeditionary Forces, commanded by COL Hanson E. Ely, conducted the first major American offensive of World War I here at Cantigny. The rest of the First Division, and French aircraft, artillery, tanks and flamethrowers, supported the attack. The seizure and defense of Cantigny against determined German opposition proved the worth of the American soldier and bolstered allied morale at a critical time. Almost 900 members of the regiment were killed or wounded during the four-day battle. The regiment earned the French Croix de Guerre with Palm and the designation "The Lions of Cantigny". The regiments crest bears a lion derived from the coat of arms of Picardie. Dedicated on July 8, 2007 by the 28th Infantry Regiment Association, the McCormick Tribune Foundation, the Cantigny First Division Foundation, and the Village of Cantigny.

Dedicated to Inari, the Japanese fox goddess, Fushimi-Inari-taisha is the head shrine (taisha) for 40,000 Inari shrines across Japan. Stretching 230 meters up the hill behind it are hundreds of bright red torii (gates). A visitor could easily spend several hours walking up the hillside, taking in the beautiful views of the city of Kyoto and walking through the torii, which appear luminescent in the late afternoon sun. Countless stone foxes, also referred to as Inari, are also dotted along the path.

The marketing and commercial team at my company had our photos taken today for inclusion on a company structure/hierarchy document...unexpectedly....so here is how I will appear on all company administration forever more.....stubble, tired eyes from 2 nights no sleep owing to a trapped-nerve in my arm and remnants of zit on top of left cheek all included - Joy!
