Anemone

LIMNI - ΛΙΜΝΗ
Limni, on the island of Evia, is a small port, beach and tourist resort, which is beautiful the whole year round. It is located 80 km NW of Chalkida and about 150 km from Athens.
The island of Evia lies along the Eastern coast of Central Greece, and is accessible to the mainland via two bridges, an old wooden bridge and a contemporary suspension bridge. There are also frequent ferries to several parts of the island. It is 175 km long and is the second largest island in Greece, and the third largest in the Eastern Mediterranean.

When I first joined Flickr, I met Richard (a.k.a. Shashamane) I loved his photography and his always funny comments. We've shared many laughs together here on Flickr
along with our friend Sosij.
After not seeing Richard on Flickr for the past few weeks, I became concerned and sent him an email. A few days passed before I received a response and concern grew more as I know he visits Georgia and it is being heavily bombed at this time.
I was happy to get an email from him yesterday. He was in Georgia but had been evacuated to a safe location Phew!!! :o) He told me of the bombings as he waited in a bus station. I can't imagine the fear of being in such a place.
Richard hopes to be back home in the UK this weekend. Please help me wish him a safe return.
Also, take a moment to check out his set of photos taken in Georgia. They are incredible photos.....
Here's a better overview of the largest seasonal area in the store. Not a bad selection really for such a tiny Fred's!

Exeter Cathedral, properly known as the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter in Exeter, is an Anglican cathedral, and the seat of the Bishop of Exeter. The present building was complete by about 1400 and has several notable features, including an early set of misericords, an astronomical clock and the longest uninterrupted medieval stone vaulted ceiling in the world.
The site where Exeter Cathedral was constructed was home to Roman buildings. A legionary fortress was constructed between 50 & 75 AD and a Roman bathhouse was discovered in 1971. The founding of the cathedral at Exeter, dedicated to Saint Peter, dates from 1050.
A misericord (sometimes named mercy seat) is a small wooden structure or sculpture formed on the underside of a folding seat in a church which, when the seat is folded up, is intended to act as a shelf to support a person in a partially standing position during long periods of prayer. Despite being located in churches, it was not considered appropriate for these sculptures to portray religious motifs, as people rested their buttocks against them. As such, misericords portrayed a wide range of subjects from secular life and folklore unrelated to the Bible.
Also to Tanya my 1sy Blonde Model from Wales; Uk.
When I met Tanya in Swansea; she was 18, with nature Blonde hair & the figure above. When photograpying Body Art; one must be very picky in selecting the model.
That is the word I learn from Max Factor - Asia Pacific Regional Manager Bob in the late 60's When I was teenager.
Bob use to share his knowledge about picking Model for Make Up & Bikinis shot from the agencies those day with my Brother in Law Rodney. He said, a model skin must be flawless. Any wound mark; cuts; tatoos he would not accept them.
In the 60's it is difficult to get model not to say about the skin. Those baby boomers normally with the wound marks due to the modquitos & frys' .. because the air quality is not so good afre the 2nd world war. Once you attacked by mosquitos then the piles would happen, then the frys' would stop on the wounds; that late when it heal it left the marks on the skin.
Only until late 70's the enironments issues are getting better, & then the people skin quality is better.
Please note that unless model is for Glamour shot, then a full figure model would be choosen, otherwise for the fashion shot, model would normally not having big breast & tshe must be slim enough to fit the fashion on assignment.
I would be more particular for the model for the nude shot, especially for the artsy nude model.
Looking at the above, you can see that her skin & skin tone are of excellent condition. I really love the contour of this.

Today I want to share with you a spectacular photo of a sunset with mountains. In the image, the sky is painted with warm tones of orange and gold as the sun slowly disappears. What's most impressive is how the mountains look: their silhouettes stand out clearly against the sky, revealing every detail of their contours. The mountain ranges line up majestically, one behind the other, creating a sense of depth and grandeur. Each mountain is perfectly distinguished, from the base to the summit, capturing the natural beauty of the landscape. The clarity with which the mountains are seen, even in the distance, is truly astonishing. The contrast between the dark mountains and the sky illuminated by the sunset further enhances the magnificence of the scene. It's a moment of serenity and wonder, where nature shows its splendor in its fullest expression. I hope you enjoy this image as much as I enjoyed capturing it, and in the company of my inseparable Westy named Sury. Every time I took out the camera and tripod, my little dog would fill with excitement. Her eyes would sparkle, and she would start jumping around me, wagging her tail with contagious energy. She knew it was time to accompany me to take photos and couldn't contain her joy. Her enthusiasm turned our photography sessions into a fun adventure, as she was always ready to explore with me while we captured special moments together." I miss her so much...............

X Fastest shot on to flickr ...took this shot about 20 minutes ago. I have been trying to catch this family who nest in a tree in my garden for a few days.....success. It’s a male blackbird and two chicks. I read up on blackbirds and apparently the male bird will feed the young for a long time, even longer than the female. It’s amusing as the chicks are almost as large as their father. The slight green blur on the left is a lily leaf I was hiding behind. I did have to alter the exposure level on the Raw shot using NX shame it would have been nice to have a SOOC shot but not this time
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT HAVE A GREAT DAY
Dedicated to Saint Peter and located on the path to Compostela (and therefore a UNESCO World Heritage site), the Benedictine abbey of Moissac was founded in the 700s. According to legend, it was founded even earlier, in 506, by the freshly converted Clovis, King of the Franks, but there is no historical evidence that this ever happened. Affiliated to Cluny from 1047, it became the most powerful monastery of southwestern France and numbered over 1,000 monks —most likely including lay brothers, though.
The most famous parts that survive today are the stunning tympanum, the iconic statue of Saint Jeremy and the Year 1100 cloister. All of those are masterpieces of Romanesque art and known worldwide.
The abbey was on the very first list of Historic Landmarks in 1840.
The capitals use a very specific outline shape in the cloister of Moissac. This is another very well known that depicts the crucifixion of Saint Peter, upside down. As you can see, all the faces have been hacked away by barbarians, whether they be Protestants or self-appointed “revolutionaries”...

Mount Gilead, NC – 2019NOV10 – The Town Creek Site:
For our 23rd wedding anniversary, after church Joe & I paused for a picnic lunch on our way to Town Creek Site, set high on a low bluff of an oxbow on the west bank of the Little River near its confluence with Town Fork Creek in Mt. Gilead, NC, on the sunny southern side of the ancient Uwharrie Mountain Range located in the southeastern Piedmont region.
The protohistoric Native American ceremonial center – listed in the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark – is the first North Carolina State Historic Site, and it also remains the only state historic site in North Carolina dedicated to American Indian heritage, drawing astronomers, and visitors like us, from far and wide to this fascinating time capsule.
The Native American People legacy carries muffled mystery buried in its background of protohistory, a period that spans prehistory and history, when a culture or civilization had no developed writing but when other cultures notated its existence.
Excavating the earthen mound built of clay – one mound built atop former mounds – has been a focus of archaeological research under one director for more than half a century, an unusual phenomenon in the history of North American archaeology.
People lived here for 12,000 years, but why particularly here? The Town Creek site manager Rich Thompson shared with Joe and me how major rains will turn the ceremonial center into an island surrounded by floodwater then as well as recently, flooding from the parking lot halfway up to the front door of the Visitor Center.
Why the name Indian: fueled by bravery and ignorance financed by greed and arrogance, Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492, heading "to India" but reaching the New World, and the Town Creek people vanished with no clue; we have no written record of explanation. Today we see these lovingly-reconstructed structures and can look and learn in amazement and wonder. So we invite you to view the best of our photos we set into 6 mini-themed albums:
• Mount Gilead, NC – 2019NOV10 – The Town Creek Site:

Wearing the remnants of its DRS livery from its former life as the dedicated locomotive for the Pretendolino contract, DB Cargo Class 90 no. 90034 leads DB Cargo liveried classmate no. 90036, 'Driver Jack Mills', south at Cathiron working 4M25 Mossend- Daventry WH Malcolm liner on 4th September 2020.
The Class 90 locomotives were introduced between 1987 and 1990 for use on both freight trains and passenger trains. 50 locomotives were produced by BREL at Crewe Works for use on the West Coast Mainline. The locomotives have a top speed of 110mph and are fitted with thyristor controls instead of the traditional tap-changers which their predecessors used. 26 locomotives were soon dedicated to Freight Traffic and were renumbered as Class 90/1 with their top speed limited to 75mph and ETH isolated. 90001- 90015 were operated by Intercity on express trains from Euston, 90016-90020 were operated by Rail Express Systems on travelling post office trains and 90021-90050 were ran by Railfreight Distribution on Freight trains with 90021-90024 remaining as Class 90/0 locos for possible rescue use or work on passenger trains. Upon privatisation of British Rail 90001- 90015 went to Virgin Trains for use on WCML express workings, 90016- 90040 went to EWS and 90041- 90050 went to Freightliner. The first change to this came in 2004 as Virgin Trains began to retire locomotive hauled series, 90001- 90015 were progressively transferred to Anglia for use on express trains out of London Liverpool Street replacing the ageing Class 86/2s that were in use on services at that time. Initially, the Class 90 locomotives were unreliable and a few 86s remained in use however, by 2006 reliability had significantly improved and the 15 90s had taken over the service.
The next change came when 90050 caught fire in late 2004, it was placed in storage and Freightliner hired in 90016 to replace it. During this time 90016's lease has became permanent and the loco has been painted in Freightliner's Green livery.
Several of the DB locos are stored out of use at the electric depot in Crewe with at least one example having a tree growing out of it. 90016, 90041, 90046 are painted in Freightliner Green, 90047, 90048 and 90050 are painted in Freightliner Grey. 90042, 90043, 90045 and 90049 are painted in Freightliner Powerhaul, 90044 is in the Freightliner G&W orange and black livery.
In January 2015, 90042 returned to service. In April 2015, DBS started to run pairs of class 90 locomotives on trains previously operated by class 92s.
In late 2019, the arrival of the FLIRT units on the Great Eastern Mainline resulted in the Greater Anglia Class 90s becoming redundant. 90001 and 90002 were transferred to Locomotive Services Limited in Crewe. 90003-90015 have been transferred to Freightliner.
Dedicated to a friend.
