For those unacquainted with the geography of Denmark, it is a very small country. In fact, were we to declare war upon New York in numbers of citizens alone, we would be outnumbered 3 to 1 (Making Wyoming a more obvious target for invasion). Anyways.. Close to the centre of Copenhagen is where you find all the sex clubs.. and of cause all the prostitutes. So in order to visit a sexclub, you walk the same streets the prostitutes do.
Walking to the club, 2 cars tried (in vain) to get my attention, honking their horn and pulling up to the side. I just smile and walk on, the smile is genuine, as I take it as an IMMENSE compliment, that the mere vision of me out the window of a passing car, obviously is found to be so attractive, people (Ok men) would pay money to exploit it further.
Leaving the club the same thing happened, 2 cars tried to pick my up before I even got to the central station. Here I paused and thought. Hey.. here is light enough for a picture ;o) Here it is :o)
If I had thought the experiences walking home had ended, I was to find them just starting.
3 minutes after this picture was taking, as I was crossing a small road, a car with 4 young tough guys, drove their car directly across the street in front of me, blocking my way across the road. I motioned with a offering gesture that the road was theirs ahead, but instead of driving on, they backed up smiling at me? I thought, am I now going to be run down, but I have good reflexes so I just passed in front. The car was following me a bit down the road and one of the guys asked out the back window, ”Hey.. can I ask you something?”. ”Sure!” I answered. ”What is your name?” he said smiling. I approached the car as the car stopped. I raised my glowed hand showing to fingers and said. ”I have 2 names. To day my name is Lisa, but usually and most, I am a guy and then my name is Anders.” I was prepared for ANYTHING but what happened. Only goes to show I might be wrong, perhaps there is hope.. somehow.
”You are beautifull” he said in a calm voice and then there where some other comments inside the car I could not hear, but they where not sounding as if mocking either him or me, but I didn´t really hear what they said.”Thanks..!” I said, or rather muttered, with such surprise it MUST have shown. The car drove on and I thought, that had to be the peak of the evenings social exitement, but I was wrong again.
The very center of Copenhagen is called ”Rådhuspladsen”. That in all simplicity means ”square of the council house.” I shall not elaborate the history of this square, who's every little brick is foundation in the heart of every living dane, as the very manifestation of ”the center of Denmark" beside the most public of places. - This square is from where most of the night busses depart, and after freezing my legs of in hold ups, I finally reach the square. Even from afar I could see a fairly large group of young ethnic rascals, standing and behaving very intimidating on the people waiting for the bus.
I would advice against ordinary tranny´s (unless very confident in them self, one way or the other) to not approach such rascals, especially not the way I step right in between them. I had to in order to check the bus schedule and (as is said in the fairytales) "strike to flies with one blow", physically displaying who in fact should be intimidated by who. - The youngest of the rascals stared at me in chock and said, ”WHAT... are you a guy?”. To which I answered, in a tone so certain and robbed even shade of doubtability, ”That, you can bet your life upon I am.” I said, facing him fully, eyeing him with a slight smile adorning my lips.
I shall try to make it short as possible, as I stood there waiting for 20 minutes. All this time I was talking to all of these guys. There where 3 groups of them (you could say) as their age span obviously was very different. The ”youngsters” who acted most wild (and asked the most ridiculous questions, which I answered though as I would have a child. Mind you I NEVER even for a SECOND speak to children as other than my equal, that is why children love me. But questions like - ”Hey tell us, have you been fucked in the ass.. come on..tell us?” - I answer. ”Yes, THAT I have and I LOVED it. But the details of it I choose to spare your youthful mind, as I am convinced you would not only find them repulsive, but they might even give you nightmares or even worse unwanted thoughts.” With a sincere heart warm smile of cause.) The older ones kept them ”under control” as they where pretty wild an intimidating other people standing around, but the oldest ”groups” of the 3 I mentioned, rebuked them if they got close to provocative towards me? This group was obviously the ”alfa” group, and again I was shaken in my foundation, finding my self asked questions like. ”But.. do you consider yourself most male or female?” and ”But.. you say you are into men as a ”girl” and into women as a ”man”. But if you choose to have a steady relationship, who and what would you choose?” to which I answer truthfully ”I cannot imagine myself having a ”boyfriend”, as I am mostly male and as such are not even attracted to men. How would that work in the ”daily life”, the morning after and so fort. No that wouldn´t work, but a male LOVER, now there is a different view. But WOMEN (I sighed) now THERE is a creature so divine, as to wake up and look upon every sunday morning for the rest of your life. No, as to real relationships I can only imagine a woman, but then again, what woman would want a part time tranny as her ”man”. It is VERY complicated I am afraid.” to which he answered in the sweetest and most compassionate way. ”.. I imagine it must be, I think I understand.”. The youngsters filmed me on their I-phone laughing, saying ”Are you a girl?” - I Laughed heartly (as I have a spontaneous habit of doing) saying ”LOL, you KNOW I am not a girl, that is why you are filming me :o) I am a TRANNY!! What else did you imagine?” and smiled for the camera ;o)
The group split up, leaving the bus at different stops. The 2 (alfa guys) who had asked me the most questions got of at the same stop as I. They where very polite and even galant, asking me if I would allow for them to walk along with me part way, which I of cause allowed :o) They kept asking intelligent questions and as they turned a corner, they wished me a good night and safe journey home.
The world is a wondrous place, sometimes what seems to be a walk in the park, really is going through hell on earth. At other times, what seem to be walking straight into a battlezone, turns out to be, like a stroll through the garden of eden.

On February 12, 2016, President Obama signed a proclamation declaring the Mojave Trails National Monument east of Los Angeles in Southern California.
Mojave Trails National Monument: Spanning 1.6 million acres, more than 350,000 acres of previously congressionally-designated Wilderness, the Mojave Trails National Monument is comprised of a stunning mosaic of rugged mountain ranges, ancient lava flows, and spectacular sand dunes. The monument will protect irreplaceable historic resources including ancient Native American trading routes, World War II-era training camps, and the longest remaining undeveloped stretch of Route 66. Additionally, the area has been a focus of study and research for decades, including geological research and ecological studies on the effects of climate change and land management practices on ecological communities and wildlife.

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
[Romans 10:9-13 NLT]
5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
1. Like it or not, we are ALL sinners: As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12 NLT)
2. The punishment for sin is death: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12 NLT)
3. Jesus is our only hope: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)
4. SALVATION is by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)
5. Accept Jesus and receive eternal life: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT) And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper,
and instead of briers the myrtle will grow.
This will be for the Lord’s renown,
for an everlasting sign,
that will endure forever.”

I declare I don't care no more
I'm burning up and out and growing bored
In my smoked out boring room
My hair is shagging in my eyes
Apathy has rained on me
Now I'm feeling like a soggy dream
So close to drowning but I don't mind
I've lived inside this mental cave
Throw my emotions in the grave
Hell, who needs them anyway?

Durga, meaning "the inaccessible" or "the invincible", is the most popular incarnation of Devi and one of the main forms of the Goddess Shakti in the Hindu pantheon. Durga is the original manifested form of Mother Parvati or Adi-Parashakti. Durga is Adi-Parashakti herself. The Devi Gita, declares her to be the greatest Goddess. Thus, she is considered the supreme goddess and primary deity in Shaktism, occupying a place similar to Lord Krishna in Vaishnavism. According to Skanda Purana, the goddess Parvati accounted the name "Durga" after she killed the demon Durgamaasura. Goddess Parvati is considered to be the complete incarnation of Adi Parashakti or Goddess Durga, with all other goddesses being her incarnations or manifestations. Adi Parashakti or Mahadevi, the supreme power, is called Durga Shakti as per Devi-Mahatmya. Adi Parashakti or Devi Durga is a Hindu concept of the Ultimate Shakti or Mahashakti, the ultimate power inherent in all Creation. This is especially prevalent in the Shakta denomination within Hinduism, which worships the Goddess Devi in all her manifestations. She is Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati in her mild form; Goddess Kali and Goddess Chandi in her wrathful form. Durga is also called Padmanabha-Sahodari and Narayani, the sister of Lord Vishnu. According to Shaivism and Shaktism She is supreme, but to bring back lord Shiva in Sansar, she was reborn in human form (Sati and Parvati) to marry Shiva. Durga gave birth to his first child Kartikeya.
ORIGINS & DEVELOPMENT
Ramprasad Chanda writes the following about the development of Durga from primitive goddess to her current form:
"...it is possible to distinguish two different strata – one primitive and the other advanced. The primitive form of Durga is the result of syncretism of a mountain-goddess worshiped by the dwellers of the Himalaya and the Vindhyas, a goddess worshiped by the nomadic Abhira shepherd, the vegetation spirit conceived as a female, and a war-goddess. As her votaries advanced in civilization the primitive war-goddess was transformed into the personification of the all-destroying time (Kali), the vegetation spirit into the primordial energy (Adya Sakti) and the saviouress from “samsara” (cycle of rebirths) , and gradually brought into line with the Brahmanic mythology and philosophy."
It is not possible to date her The delusion of the supreme soul is otherwise called Shakti (power). From this power, generates all forms of knowledge of the world and it is accepted as vital cause of creation, existence and destruction. According to 'Shree Durga Shaptshati- Rahasyam', the original power is Mahalaxmi that created three pairs of Supreme Powers. They are Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva as male and Saraswati, Laxmi and Parvati as female, and they married respectively. Maha Saraswati is well known as Brahmani, Mahalaxmi as Vaishnavi and Mahakali as Maheswari. Durga Shakti is the original cause of all the present or past worldly occurrences. Durga Shakti is called as Adhyashakti, Paramatma Shakti or Ati Prakrutika Shakti. She is creating and controlling other two powers: Natural and General. Natural Power is called as Atma Shakti, Prakrutika Shakti, Pancha Mahabhuta Shakti etc. This Shakti creates and controls the General Energy. General Energies are called Jada Shakti or Tamashakti. By the blessings of Durga Shakti, the mother of the Universe, man is able to get his emancipation or salvation and indulge in enjoyments in performance of his daily activities. So Vyasadev, the eminent poet of "Devi Bhagwat", has aptly described "Rudrahinam Vishnuhinam na vadanti janastatha Shaktihinam Yathasarbe probodhanti Naradhamam". The powerless persons are despised as mean persons. So, by being devoted to the Supreme, we should be strong and powerful by her grace.
STORIES
Shiva Purana gives an account of the origin of Durga. At the beginning of time, Lord Shiva invoked Durga, the primordial energy from his left half to create. Together they created their eternal abode, Shivaloka, also known as Kashi. Thereafter, they created Vishnu and Brahma.
As per Shiva Purana and Devi Mahatmyah, Mahishasura, the son of demon Rambha, unleashed reign of terror on earth. When gods intervened, Mahishasura defeated gods and banished them from heaven. Vanquished gods went to Trideva- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. As they narrated their woeful tale, immense mass of light manifested from Lord Vishnu's mouth, which was joined by similar rays that emerged from the enraged faces of gods. This mass of light transformed into a woman. Then all the Gods gave their devine weapon to that supreme power. Adishakti re-manifested as Durga to slay Mahishasura. Armed with celestial weapons of all deities and decked with divine ornaments, Durga rode into the battle field and challenged demons for battle. Mahishasura's entire army, led by demons like Chikshur, Chamar, Asiloma, Vidalaksha, Durdhara, Durmukha, Mahahanu and many more attacked Durga at once. But Durga slew all of them with unparalleled cruelty. An enraged Mahishasura attacked Durga in guise of a buffalo. But Durga bound it with ropes. The buffalo morphed into a lion and lept on Durga, but she beheaded it with her sword. At this, Mahishasura began to fight in form of a swordsman. Durga pinned him down with a torrent of arrows. Mahishasura now assumed form of a giant elephant and tugged at Durga's lion. Durga lopped off its trunk with her sword and freed her lion. The elephent turned into a buffalo and charged at Durga. Sipping from her wine cup, Durga flung her trident and beheaded Mahishasura, finally killing him.
WORSHIP
The four-day-long (Saptami to Dashami) Durga Puja is the biggest annual festival in Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Nepal, where it is known as Dashain. It is celebrated likewise with much fervour in various parts of India, especially the Himalayan region, but is celebrated in various forms throughout the Hindu universe.
The day of Durga's victory is celebrated as Vijayadashami (Bihar, Bengali), Dashain (Nepali) or Dussehra (Hindi) – these words literally mean "the Victory on the Tenth (day)".
In Andhra Pradesh she is also worshipped as Kanaka Durgammathalli, where there is also famous temple for Goddess Kanaka Durga in Indrakeeladri,Vijayawada. She is also known by the name of Bhavani.
In Kashmir she is worshipped as shaarika (the main temple is in Hari Parbat in Srinagar).
The actual period of the worship however may be on the preceding nine days (Navaratri) followed by the last day called Vijayadashami in North India or five days in Bengal (from the sixth to tenth day of the waxing-moon fortnight). Nine aspects of Durga known as Navadurga are meditated upon, one by one during the nine-day festival by devout Shakti worshippers. Durga Puja also includes the worship of Shiva, who is Durga's consort (Durga is an aspect of Goddess Parvati), in addition to Lakshmi, Saraswati with Ganesha and Kartikeya, who are considered to be Durga's children. Worship of mother nature is done, through nine types of plant (called "Kala Bou"), including a plantain (banana) tree, which represent nine divine forms of Goddess Durga. In South India especially, Andhra Pradesh Dussera Navaratri is also celebrated and the goddess is dressed each day as a different devi – Saraswati, Parvati, Lakshmi etc. – for the nine days.
In North India, the tenth day, is celebrated as Dussehra, the day Rama emerged victorious in his battle against the demon, Ravana – gigantic straw effigies of Ravana are burnt in designated open spaces (e.g. Delhi's Ram Lila grounds), watched by thousands of families and little children.
In Mysore (which originated from Mahishasooru) in Karnataka, she is worshipped as Chamundeshwari, the patron goddess of the city during Dussehra (Dasara).
In Gujarat it is celebrated as the last day of Navaratri, during which the Garba dance is performed to celebrate the victory of Mahishasura-mardini, Durga.
The Goddess Durga is worshipped in her peaceful form as Maha Gauri, The Fair Lady, Shree Shantadurga also known as Santeri, is the patron Goddess of Goa. She is worshipped by all Goan Hindus.
In Maharashtra, Tulja Bhavani,Hedavde Mahalaxmi and Ambabai are worshipped as Mahishasur Mardini, who is the patron goddess of the land. Bhavani is known as Tulaja, Amba, Renuka, Yamai Saptshrungi and Jogai in different places of Maharashtra. She is the inspirational goddess of Raja Shivaji. As per legends, Bhavani appeared after Shivaji prayed to her and blessed him to be able to make Hindustan or the then India (ruled by the Mughals) independent – the kingdom he established eventually became the Hindu Pad Padshahi (sometimes also called the Maratha Empire), which comprised all the land ruled by the Mughals and brought India back under Hindu sovereignty.
In Bangladesh also, the four-day long Sharadiya Durga Puja (Bengali: শারদীয়া দুর্গা পুজো, ‘autumnal Durga worship’) is the biggest religious festivals for the Hindus and celebrated across the country with Vijayadashami being a national holiday.
The prominence of Durga Puja increased gradually during the British Raj in Bengal.[8] After the Hindu reformists identified Durga with India, she became an icon for the Indian independence movement.
WESTERN REFERENCES
Some early Western accounts refer to a deity known as Deumus, Demus or Deumo. Western (Portuguese) sailors first came face to face with the murti of Deumus at Calicut on the Malabar Coast and they concluded it to be the deity of Calicut. Deumus is sometimes interpreted as an aspect of Durga in Hindu mythology and sometimes as deva.
It is described that the ruler of Calicut (Zamorin) had a murti of Deumus in his temple inside his royal palace. The temple was two paces wide in each of the four sides and three paces high, with a wooden door covered with gods carved in relief. At the centre of the temple, there was a metal idol of Deumus placed in a seat, which was also made of metal.
Western accounts also describe the ruler of Calicut worshiping an ultimate god called Tamerani ("Tamburan"). The accounts also describes a misunderstood form of the "hook-swinging" ritual once commonly performed as part of some popular Hindu religious festivals.

Inspired from Psalms 19:1 - The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
They were back again today and this time in numbers. I saw as many as six Baltimore Orioles going for this one feeder. They don't seem to bother with the other two as much. Here two face off, declaring their rights to this sugar water. Meanwhile hummingbirds zoom in and out, almost as if the bigger birds weren't there. It's not the best composition, but those darn birds just won't stay where I want them to. BTW..... I ordered a bird book.

Newport Rhode Island. RI was one of the original 13 colonies to declare independence. It is the smallest US state. Roger Williams established the colony of Providence and Anne Hutchinson and others established a small settlement at Newport on Aquidneck Island. Williams and Hutchinson were Puritans expelled for Massachusetts for their religious ideas. In 1644 the 2 settlements united to become the colony of Rhode Island (after the isle of Rhodes in Greece.) RI was the first colony to renounce allegiance to the British King but the last to ratify the US Constitution - it waited until May 1890 for assurances that a Bill of Rights would be added.
The Robber Barons and Newport. During the Industrial Revolution in America after the Civil War a small group of men and families came to dominate US business. They were the leaders, the first to develop and use new technology and materials, just like Bill Gates in this modern era. They built the railroads, were the first to use the new Bessemer steel making process, they developed the telegraph, the telephone, and they discovered oil and extracted kerosene to replace whale oil as the main burning fuel. Later, men like Henry Ford developed the motor car at an affordable price for middle class Americans, and he also introduced assembly line production system. They were the first to take control of these new industries and establish either regional or national monopolies by buying out all competitors. There were no US laws to restrict cartels and monopolies at that time. They got control of the natural resources- the oil wells, the means of transport- the railroads and oil pipelines, and they manufactured - especially steel. They also owned the coal mines. So they owned everything from the natural resources to the produced item and they controlled the marketing, the prices and the sales. They were known as the ‘Robber Barons’ and their influence on American is still great today despite decades of anti-trust (monopoly) legislation. Fortunately for the US they started the tradition of massive donations as their personal and company tax rates were so low. Their family names are especially linked to Bar Harbor, Newport and New York City. They were an exclusive group. To ‘make it’ in NY you had to be part of the 400, the 400 people Mrs. Astor could fit into her ballroom.
The Astors: of German descent and they made money from the fur and opium trade and were known as the landlords of NY. They lived where the Empire State is now built. They owned huge areas of NY and had their summer house at Newport. They donated the NY Public Library to the city.
The Vanderbilts: were original Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam. They owned much of Fifth Avenue where they lived near the Astors. They built a railroad and shipping empire to make them even today one of the wealthiest families. They owned and built Grand Central Terminal in NY, the largest train station in the world with 75 platforms.
The Carnegies: Andrew went into steel making and created the US Steel Company. He then invested in oil wells, railroads, and coal mining and became the second wealthiest man after John Rockefeller. He endowed Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh - his steel making city. He endowed Carnegie Music Hall in NY. He was a financial backer of Booker T. Washington the great black leader of the 1890s who founded Tuskegee University for Black Americans. You might see Carnegie Hall in NY.
The Morgans: John Pierpont became the banker to the Robber Barons. He then developed General Electrics but he was the banker to all the main railroads, steel works, telegraph companies and he was the investor behind the White Star Line of Titanic fame. On your free day in NY you could visit his home and the Morgan collection of books etc.
The Rockefellers: John was the man who established the Standard Oil Company but he owned the oilfields, the pipelines, and the refineries. He had 100,000 employees and lived near the Vanderbilts. His philanthropic interests included health, hospitals, sewerage and education. The Rockefeller Centre in NY is still owned by the family.
The Fricks: Henry Clay Frick was a steel magnate with works in Pittsburgh and New York. His art collection, the Frick Collection of old European masters is housed in his Fifth Avenue home which was designed to make Andrew Carnegie’s home look like a shack. You can visit this collection on the free day in NY if you want.
The Breakers - one of the Ten Mansions open in Newport. Cornelius Vanderbilt’s grandson had this mansion built in 1893. It is a 70 roomed Italian Renaissance style palace built as a summer house only. The house has been publically owned since 1973. It cost more than $12 million to build. Its furnishing and the building materials are lavish. The gardens are superb and sweep down to the cliff top edges, hence the house name, the Breakers.
The Marble House. This house was built for William Vanderbilt as a summer cottage between 1888-92.It was inspired by the Petit Trianon at Versailles. Mrs Vanderbilt saw it as her ‘temple to the arts.’ It cost $11 million to erect with $7million going on marble. William gave it to his wife as a 39th birthday present! To ‘relive’ the Newport experience read the novels of Edith Wharton, herself a NY aristocrat who had a summer residence at Newport. She was a great friend of the Vanderbilts. She is the American Jane Austen. Read The Age of Innocence 1921; or The House of Mirth 1905. Both novels have been made into films the Innocence in 1993 and the Mirth in 2000.

The University of Greenwich is a public university located in London and Kent, United Kingdom. Previous names include Woolwich Polytechnic and Thames Polytechnic.
The university's main campus is at the Old Royal Naval College, which along with its Avery Hill campus, is located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Greenwich also has a satellite campus in Medway, Kent, as part of a shared campus. The university's range of subjects includes architecture, business, computing, mathematics, education, engineering, humanities, maritime studies, natural sciences, pharmacy and social sciences. Greenwich's alumni include two Nobel laureates: Abiy Ahmed and Charles K. Kao. It received a Silver rating in the UK government's Teaching Excellence Framework.
The university dates back to 1891, when Woolwich Polytechnic, the second-oldest polytechnic in the United Kingdom, opened in Woolwich. It was founded by Frank Didden, supported by and following the principles of Quintin Hogg, and opened to students in October 1891. Like Hogg's pioneering venture in London's Regent Street, it initially combined education with social and religious functions.
In 1894 it focused on an educational role, concentrating on higher technical education appropriate to its location close to Woolwich Dockyard and the Royal Arsenal; William Anderson, director-general of the Ordnance Factories, was a trustee and later a member of the board of governors. Its premises were also used for day schools – the first Woolwich Polytechnic School was established in 1897.
In 1970, Woolwich Polytechnic merged with part of Hammersmith College of Art and Building to form Thames Polytechnic. In the following years, Dartford College (1976), Avery Hill College of Education (1985), Garnett College (1987) and parts of Goldsmiths College and the City of London College (1988) were incorporated.[9]
In 1992, Thames Polytechnic was granted university status by the Major government (together with various other polytechnics) and renamed the University of Greenwich in 1993. On 1 January 1993, the Thames College of Health Care Studies, itself a merger of three local nursing and midwifery training schools, officially merged with the newly designated University of Greenwich, becoming a full faculty of the university.
Formerly a UK government research agency, the Natural Resources Institute (NRI) was incorporated into the university in 1996.
In 2001, the university gave up its historic main campus in the Bathway Quarter in Woolwich, relocating to its current main campus in Greenwich.
Greenwich Campus is located mainly in the Old Royal Naval College, into which it moved in the 1990s when the premises were sold by the Royal Navy.
The campus is home to the Business School and the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The campus also includes university's Greenwich Maritime Institute, a specialist maritime management, policy and history teaching and research institute. The Old Royal Naval College also hosts "The Painted Hall", which was painted in the 18th century by Sir James Thornhill, which covers over 40,000 square feet of surface in 200 painting of kings, queens and mythological creatures.
The campus has a large library at Stockwell Street which houses an extensive collection of books and journals, language labs and a 300-PC computing facility. Other facilities include specialist computer laboratories including one at Dreadnought centre, a TV studio and editing suites. The Stephen Lawrence Gallery at the Stockwell Street building, showcases the work of contemporary artists and is linked to the School of Design.
The Avery Hill Campus comprises two sites, Mansion and Southwood. Both are situated in the 86-acre Avery Hill Park in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, south-east London.
The campus is home to the Faculty of Education & Health. Facilities include computer laboratories, a library and a TV studio, as well as a sports and teaching centre with a sports hall and 220-seat lecture theatre. Southwood site also has clinical skills laboratories. These replicate NHS wards, enabling trainee health professionals to gain hands-on experience. The village complex provides student accommodation, a general shop and a launderette. The Dome, in the centre of the complex, houses a food outlet and gym. Rugby, football, indoor pitches, netball and tennis courts, and a dance studio are on Avery Hill campus.
The facility, which was built by Wimpey Construction under a PFI contract, was completed in 1996.
The Winter Garden, the centrepiece of the Mansion site, has fallen into neglect and is on Historic England's 'At Risk' Register. A campaign to restore the Winter Garden is putting pressure on the university and Greenwich Council to ensure its future.
The Medway Campus is located on a former Royal Navy shorebase (called HMS Pembroke) opened in 1903 at Chatham Maritime, Kent.
The Faculty of Engineering and Science is based here, as is the Natural Resources Institute, a centre for research, consultancy and education in natural and human resources. It is also the home of Medway School of Pharmacy, a joint school operated by the Universities of Greenwich and Kent. The Faculty of Education & Health offers a number of its programmes at Medway. Facilities include laboratories, workshops, a computer-aided design studio and a training dispensary.
The Drill Hall Library is a learning resource centre with a library, computers, study areas and teaching rooms. Social facilities include a sports hall, bar, gym and outdoor tennis courts. The university is a member of Universities at Medway, a partnership of educational establishments at Chatham Maritime that is developing the area as a major higher education centre in the Medway region.
Greenwich Campus is near 74-hectare Greenwich Park, home to the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. The Stockwell Street Building opened in 2014 and is now home to the campus library, film and TV studios, and state-of-the-art editing suites. In 2015, it was shortlisted for the Stirling Prize for excellence in architecture.
The Dreadnought Building is a central hub for the Greenwich Campus, with further teaching and social spaces.
The Student Village at Avery Hill Campus provides accommodation for around 1,000 students. On-site facilities include a café, canteen, shop, launderette, bicycle parking, and a gym.
Medway Campus has 350 rooms across five halls of residence dedicated to student accommodation.
Greenwich Students' Union is the university's students' union. In October 2019, the GSU Student Assembly voted to ask the university to declare a climate emergency and for the university and union sustainability strategies to consult with students in creating them. This call to action aimed to speed up the university's efforts at becoming carbon neutral.
At the Medway campus in Kent there is a partnership between the University of Greenwich Students' Union, Canterbury Christ Church and University of Kent Union on the Medway campus. Greenwich Students' Union has been leading the partnership since July 2021 and manages The Hub space, previously The Student Hub when it was looked after by GK Unions – the Greenwich & Kent Students' Unions Together (once the Universities at Medway Students Association, UMSA).
Greenwich Students' Union delivers at Avery Hill, Greenwich and Medway campus.
Greenwich research seeks to influence and enhance health, education, science, engineering, computing and social policy, and attracts international agencies, government departments and global corporations (for example, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, BAE Systems, Airbus, GE Aviation and Merck Consumer Health) from over 50 countries. Significant areas of research and consultancy include landscape architecture, employment relations, fire safety, natural resources, tourism and hospitality, social network analysis, education, training, educational leadership and public services.
Examples of research
The university's Natural Resources Institute has developed an artificial cow that attracts and kills the tsetse fly. This was recognised by a Universities UK survey in 2009 as one of the ten most important discoveries to be made in a UK university over the past 60 years.
The Fire Safety Engineering Group, part of the School of Computing & Mathematical Sciences, is a world leader in computational fire engineering, including expertise in aircraft, building, ship and rail evacuation and fire modelling. It has developed airEXODUS, a leading evacuation model in the aviation industry.
A University of Greenwich research team helped restore the Cutty Sark after it was badly damaged by fire.
Researchers working on 19 sustainable development and agriculture projects in India helped the university to win the 2010 Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding International Strategy.
Two University of Greenwich scientists have developed a technology which converts contaminated land and industrial waste into harmless pebbles, capturing large amounts of carbon dioxide at the same time.
The Greenwich Maritime Institute makes internationally recognised contributions to research in maritime history and economics, such as its exploration of the governance of the River Thames since the 1960s and the effects this has had on the economic development of adjacent communities.
The university has had many famous movie productions that were filmed on campus, one example of a movie is the classic 2013 Marvel movie Thor: Dark World

You know how if someone is missing for 7 days you can legally declare them dead? I believe that if you don't hear from the client for a month, you can declare the project dead. This was supposed to be a record cover. I was timid about working for a band again, as I have had lots of bad experiences with them in the past. I took a chance and accepted a cover job for a small band, and a small fee. Behold! I did the work, didn't get paid, and the band is nowhere to be found. ::Sigh:: I will never do that again.
This is mixed media. It's a charcoal, pencil, and white gouache drawing, colored digitally. I think it's a great way to work. It has the speed and flexibility of digital, with the texture and "artist's hand" that makes traditional so nice.
What does it take to make a good street photgraphy point and shoot camera? My short list includes:
-Fast auto-focus
-Sharp lens
-Pocketability
-Silent operation
-A waist level viewfinder.
Many P&S cameras fulfill the first four criteria, but only a few come equipped with a truly usable vertical viewfinder that leaves the subjects unaware their picture is taken. Two very common examples are the Yashica T3 and the Canon Sureshot Ace. I plan on testing both in the near future, but until then I thought I'd make a short comparison of specifications and user interface for anyone who might be interested in getting one of them.
Size-wise they are very similar and weigh pretty much the same. The Canon has a pretty streamlined shape that gives it a pleasant look even by today's standards. The Yashica seems quite outdated in that department. The Canon is a bit narrower / flatter, so this makes it marginally more pocketable.
Both cameras are quite ergonomic with a nice grip and easy access to all buttons and controls. The Yashica has a rubber grip cover so it might have the edge there, although the Canon feels very secure too. I really appreciate the fact that both cameras have a retractable lens barrier that serves as a ON-OFF switch too.
The conventional viewfinder of the Yashica has the edge, as it is bigger, brighter and has parallax marks, unlike that of the Canon. On the other hand, the vertical viewfinder is larger (although somehow darker) in the Canon.
What really let me down was the lack of a flash-off option in the Sureshot, which really forces one to use high speed film to avoid the flash firing all the time. The flash can be turned off in the Yashica, although it defaults to ON everytime the shutter fires.
Another plus of the Yashica is that you can get focus confirmation when you're shooting from the hip, as the "AF" sign shows in the LCD screen. This is not possible with the Canon, although you can definitely hear the lens move to focus and this is usually enough, unless the environment is noisy.
Both cameras use the expensive 2CR5 6V lithium battery, so prepare to spend a lot on the battery, either way.
ASA range is 50-1600 for the Canon, The Yashica goes from 64 to 1600. Regarding shutter speeds, the Yashica offers a full 1s-1/630s range, while the Canon is limited to a 1/40-1/125s range (but stops the lens down to f/32 if necessary)
Both cameras are pretty noisy, the Canon shutter being the louder of the two, although in both cameras the film does not advance until you lift your finger off the shutter button, so you can do that after taking the picture in order not to startle the subject.
In the critical field of optics, I am a fan of Canon Sureshots, so far I've had nothing but sharp, contrasty, flare-free pics from my other Canon P&S. However, the Canon lens looks like a certain underdog here, being a 3.5/35 triplet competing with a Zeiss 2.8/35 Tessar lens treated with the famous T* coating. However, only a field test will settle the score and hopefully I'm going to set it up soon enough.
So, the Yashica seems to be a clear winner regarding optics, exposure range and the crucial flash-off option. The larger waist-level viewfinder and the sleeker design of the Canon are not enough to claim victory over the Yashica, or even a draw for that matter. However, before declaring the Yashica the logical choice, consider this: The Canon usually sells for less than 1/20 the price of the Yashica...

34092 at Whitstable on the 09.58 to Ramsgate (presumably ex Victoria) on 18th July 1953.
34092 was a Stewarts Lane engine at the time and a frequent performer on the Golden Arrow. Just above the nameplate are the 3 brackets that held the large arrow and unusually the dirt shadow of the golden arrow can be made out (The Shadow of the Golden Arrow - sounds like a 1950s swashbuckler starring Errol Flynn!).
Also note the circular covers to the sandbox fillers hanging open. Hinged at the bottom, this often occurred and they were subsequently changed to the sliding ones more commonly seen.
34092 had gone new to Stewarts Lane in September 1949 but with electrification of the eastern section it was reallocated to Salisbury on 26th May 1961 where it stayed until withdrawal on 29th November 1964.
When new, it was named simply 'Wells' but the city council felt this to be rather abrupt and so it was changed to 'City of Wells' in March 1950.
My father was a city councillor at the time of its naming but he died before I thought to ask him if he attended the naming ceremony which was held in Wells. As the youngest councillor, he carried the mace at ceremonies and had to swear an oath declaring that he would give his life in protecting the mayor.
I am one who is normally suspicious of authority and their petty regulations, but I think that one is reasonable!

Some Catholics in the late twentieth century urged Pope John Paul II to infallibly declare Mary Co-Redemptrix, not meaning by this title that Mary herself redeems mankind, but that she cooperates with Jesus in His redemption of the world; as a co-pilot is not equal to the pilot of an airplane, so is the case with Jesus and His Mother as well as with any other Christian faithful who, by the Baptism, becomes member of the Mystical Body of Jesus and, as such, "co-redemptor".
Professor Mark Miravalle of the Franciscan University in Steubenville in the United States launched a petition to urge Pope John Paul to make such a move, by defining the teaching of the Church that Mary is Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix of All Graces, and Advocate for the People of God. More than six million signatures were gathered from 148 countries. Signatories included Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Cardinal John O'Connor of New York, 41 other cardinals and 550 bishops. However, such a proposal was also heavily criticized by many Catholics who suggested that only Jesus could be a Redeemer and that such an act would drive a wedge in relationships with other apostolic tradition Christian faiths, notably the Orthodox Church and Anglicanism, neither of whom would accept such a designation. Though both Pope Pius XI in 1935 and Pope John Paul II himself in 1985 did use the word co-redemptrix to refer to Mary, no formal infallible dogma supporting such a designation has been issued, notwithstanding the petition.
Mary as Co-Redemptrix is entirely tied to her role in the Incarnation of Jesus. Because Jesus was miraculously incarnated in the womb of the Virgin Mary, the physical, human nature of Jesus was thus derived from Mary. In a very real sense, the blood Jesus shed on the Cross was the blood he received from Mary. And since Jesus saved mankind by his incarnation, and this was made possible by the obedience of Mary, this becomes a source of understanding Mary as Co-Redemptrix. Mary's role, however, is totally dependent upon her relationship to the redeemer, Jesus, and her total obedience to the Will of the Spirit.
Offensivement,

What a beautiful time of the year! The heavens declare the glory of God !
Stamped randomly on a piece of patterned paper which gives the subtelty of the background, added a bird and a sentiment.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
[Philippians 4:4-7 NIV]
Read the Bible for yourself. Allow the Lord to speak to you through his Word. YOUR ETERNITY IS AT STAKE!

On February 12, 2016, President Obama signed a proclamation declaring the Sand to Snow National Monument east of Los Angeles in Southern California.
Sand to Snow National Monument: Encompassing 154,000 acres, including just over 100,000 acres of already congressionally-designated Wilderness, Sand to Snow National Monument is an ecological and cultural treasure and one of the most biodiverse areas in southern California, supporting more than 240 species of birds and twelve threatened and endangered wildlife species. Home to the region’s tallest alpine mountain that rises from the floor of the Sonoran desert, the monument also will protect sacred, archaeological and cultural sites, including an estimated 1,700 Native American petroglyphs. Featuring thirty miles of the world famous Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, the area is a favorite for camping, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, photography, wildlife viewing, and even skiing.

When it happens China takes it's first assault against the Philippine territory taking Scarborough shoal and other islands rich in oil and gas of the Kalayaan group ,possible picture will be there's no more USA to police and give defense to the Philippines ( no offense to Americans ,pls no hurt feelings) but this is probably deep in the birth pangs ,with wars and rumours of wars .What can the Philippines do ? It's David vs Goliath ,and this will happen ! I am aware many would not agree with me ,but I clearly see the fulfilment of Isaiah 24 : 14-15 happening in our face in this imminent clash. This has the strong likelihood to happen .I have no doubt the Philippines is one of the isles of sea far away as prophesied ,there might be more nation isles to surface from darkness in the latter days though let's wait and see .The dragon will never be succeeding ,God will smite that big dragon with His mighty hands and its army and fortresses built on the rocks. The isles people will cry out to God ,sing praises and joy to God of Zion for the wonders they saw ! It will draw in waves of millions and millions of island people to God for the last countdown of days that they will know He is God - and before the final wrath of God poured down on Godless world that totally rejects God !
This is only my personal view ,I'm not asking people to agree with me .

When even the great Enzo Ferrari is moved to declare your rival product “The most beautiful car in the world” you know you’ve got something special.
Even though we have now had over 50 years to get used to it, there is something so right and so perfect about the shape of the original E-Type Jaguar that its power to stop the world in its tracks remains undiminished. At least as good as any contemporary Aston or Ferrari, it's only because Jaguar sold so many of them that mere mortals like you and I can realistically think of owning one today – although prices for the ultra-desirable Series One 3.8 have been rising alarmingly of late.
The best looking of all the E-Type variants, the first S1s had the snarling 3.8-litre XK straight-six engine which provided a much sportier feel than the later, softer 4.2-litre unit. Quoted as developing some 265bhp and 260lb/ft of torque in standard tune with a top speed nudging 150mph and disc brakes all round, it is no wonder that the car caused such a sensation when launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961 with a relatively affordable price tag of just £2,860.
With such startling performance it is also no wonder that the E-Type began to find its way on to the world's racetracks right from the outset. In the Grand Touring class for production sportscars, the E-Type proved competitive from the start when Graham Hill, driving Tommy Sopwith's Team Endeavour car, celebrated the model\'s racing debut by winning at Oulton Park on 3rd April 1961 ahead of Innes Ireland's Aston Martin DB4GT and Roy Salvadori in John Coombs' E-Type. Since then E-Types have been raced successfully the world over, with development continuing well beyond the level achieved by Jaguar themselves.
Quite apart from their sheer beauty, these remain genuinely quick cars even by today’s standards, yet are easy to live with and maintain (unlike Italian exotica) with all parts readily available and a whole army of specialists to service them. The 3.8 Coupes are also surprisingly rare, with just 7,760 made in total of which only 860 were factory right-hand drive produced between March 1961 and October 1964 (chassis numbers 860001 – 861799).
This particular car is number 756 of the run and, as the accompanying Heritage Certificate confirms, it was despatched to Jaguar dealer Bearts of Kingston-upon-Thames on 8th August 1962 and was registered to first owner U Emlyn of Broad Oak, Carmarthen, just one week later. Initially registered 283 XPJ, it was originally finished in black with a red leather interior and has had just four further owners since, according to the V5C, the fourth owner acquiring it in March 1990.
In the late 1990s he decided to convert the car into a semi-lightweight racer, much of the work being carried out by Jim Morse of Abingdon and subsequently by noted race engineer Bob Neville (owner of RJN Motorsport of Didcot and latterly more famous for preparing cars and drivers for the Nissan GT Academy programme). The extent of the work carried out is too detailed to list in full here but is amply documented in numerous invoices and photographs in the history file, the build cost amounting to well in excess of £40,000.
The lightweight bodywork features aluminium doors made by RS Panels, an aluminium bonnet made by expert coachbuilder Simon Dunford and hand-crafted rear wheelarches inspired by those of the Malcolm Sayer-designed 'low drag' E-Type '49 FXN'. The quickly detachable tail-gate is also made of aluminium with a Perspex screen, the side windows also being made of lightweight Perspex. The car rides on magnesium replica Dunlop wheels which are shod with Dunlop Racing tyres and has a race-spec foam-filled aluminium fuel tank.
Mechanically the car has been fully restored and race prepared including a full rebuild of the original engine (R5548-9), balanced and fitted with triple Weber 45DCOE carbs and Lynx inlet manifolds; a rebuilt all-syncro gearbox from a slightly later 4.2 E-Type; rebuilt rear axle and limited slip differential by Dana Spicer; fitment of a Safety Devices FIA-compliant bolt-in roll-cage; new wiring harness; Aeroquip braided hoses plus numerous other upgrades to the brakes, suspension, steering and cooling systems. Pleasingly the car still retains its original aluminium dashboard and red leather bucket seats which have a wonderful patina. The original steering wheel is also included in the sale.
Due to lack of time in which to enjoy the car for the purpose it was built for, the E-Type then sat in storage for several years (apart from the odd trip to the MOT station) before being entrusted to Classic Performance Engineering of Bicester in 2015/16 for a further bout of fine tuning and race preparation at a cost of another £22,000 again detailed in worksheets and bills on file. Once these works were completed an application was sent to the Motor Sports Association for a Historic Technical Passport and the car was successfully inspected and issued with FIA Papers in February this year.
Finally ready to be used in anger after many years of painstaking development, the car was booked into the Easter Monday Sprint Race at Goodwood on 28th March for its maiden outing with professional racing driver Alex Buncombe at the wheel. However, in a cruel twist of fate, Storm Katie hit Sussex on Sunday night and wreaked such havoc on the historic Goodwood circuit that the stewards were forced to call the meeting off at the last minute so the E-Type was reluctantly trailered back to base without ever having the chance to demonstrate its competition capabilities. With no time remaining before the auction to get it entered into another event, the car thus awaits a new owner to reveal its true potential at some time in the future.
Freshly race prepared and fully road legal with an MOT until January 2017 with no advisories recorded, this beautiful ‘matching numbers’ E-Type has been built to an exemplary standard by some of the best names in the business and is not only eligible for various historic events but would also make a thrilling fast road car for the fortunate new owner.

Former Stanley District Council Chamber c1877 and Mintaro Institute c1878 in the State Heritage listed township, where the Institute building foundation stone is to be found placed on the front of the council chamber.
*Our District Council has accepted a tender for the erection of a Council Chamber, and the building will be started immediately, as the contractor has to get it finished by the 1st of August. The need of such a building has long been felt, and it will not only prove a convenience, but also a credit to the place.
An effort is now being made to collect subscriptions sufficient to cover the expense of building an institute. At the present time considerably over £100 has been collected, but it is anticipated that with further canvassing an amount something like £250 will be collected, which, with the Government subsidy, will cover the cost of a suitable building. *New Institute at Mintaro
There were great rejoicings at Mintaro on Monday, February 4, when the foundation stone of a substantial new Institute was laid in that township.
After 12 o'clock noon the day was observed as a strict holiday,
The building of which the foundation stone was to be laid had been commenced a few weeks previously by Messrs Whitehead, of Auburn, and Jolly, of Mintaro, the contractors, and such progress had been made that the visitors found about eight feet of the walls already built up.
Its situation is excellent, seeming to have been chosen for the twofold advantage of convenience and ornament. It is quite in the heart of the town, being flanked on the right by the District Council Chamber— a stone building of a very neat appearance — and just sufficiently prominent on a slight elevation as to arrest attention from any point of view in the town.
When completed it will be 58 x 24 feet, and 21 feet high, wall measurement: and will consist of a porch with folding doors leading into the principal room, 36 x 21, behind which will be two rooms, designed for the reading-room and library, each 10 x 10. The stone used is a rough sandstone which has been obtained from Kelsh's quarry, and the rubble-stone is from Bowman's block. It is estimated that the cost will be close upon £800.
In accordance with a promise given to a deputation the week before, the Hon C Mann QC (Attorney-General), visited the town for the purpose of laying the foundation stone. He was accompanied by Mr W Townsend MP who had likewise promised to take a part in the proceedings. On their arrival at the railway station they were welcomed by Mr Thompson Priest JP, the Chairman of the Building Committee, and Mr George Faulkner, as representative of the District Council.
A private luncheon was provided for the party and a few local gentlemen at the Devonshire Arms, and after partaking of this refreshment they were conveyed in buggies to the Mintaro Slate Quarry, which they inspected under the ciceroneship of the lessee, Mr Priest.
Inspection of Mintaro Quarry
The fine quality of the stone which is obtained from this quarry is well known in most parts of the province. It is almost the only stone that is used for flagging and paving the halls and lavatories of large public buildings nowadays, as well as for a variety of other purposes for which it is specially adapted. The quarry itself has been worked more or less for a period extending over 21 years, but at no time has it opened up so splendidly as at present. Excavations have been made to a depth of nearly 60 feet, and now it presents an immense slope of valuable laminiferous stone many feet in depth. A peculiarity of this stone is that almost all of it has a very smooth surface, and requires comparatively little polishing after it is quarried out or split up into layers. Many blocks possessing this feature are removed which measure over 100 superficial feet, but there have been large blocks 33½ x 29½ feet taken from Mintaro. The superior nature of this stone is becoming widely known, and it is now being shipped to all the metropolitan centres in the colonies.
Twenty-nine men are constantly employed at the quarry, and in a broad sense it may be described as the mainstay of the town. The appliances in use and the numerical strength of the manual labour employed might not be such as to lead to an extensive or rapid development of the quarry at present but there can be no doubt that a time will come when it will be a scene of great industry and be the direct means of raising the town of Mintaro into the rank and importance of a large populous centre.
LAYING THE STONE
Shortly after 3 o'clock a procession consisting of Oddfellows and Foresters was formed in front of the Devonshire Arms, whence it proceeded to the Institute.
A large number of the residents, including many ladies, were assembled at the building, and the liveliest interest was manifested by everyone.
Mr Mann said he need scarcely express his pleasure at being privileged to lay the foundation stone of that building. He was particularly gratified with their kind reception of him, although he confessed the thanks were rather due to themselves for inviting him to be present.
Mr Priest, as Chairman of the Committee … saying they had all worked happily together. He was very glad to add that the Committee as well as the outside public had subscribed in a handsome manner to the building fund, and he hoped that before long sufficient money would be raised to clear off the debt altogether.
The people being asked to contribute before going away, many came forward with donations, which they placed on the foundation stone, and it was found that no less a sum than £20 18s. had been contributed in this way.
A banquet was afterwards given in the District Council Chamber in celebration of the event. There was a large gathering.
After the foregoing proceedings were concluded Mr Townsend delivered his famous lecture on 'The Lights and Shadows of London Life' before a crowded audience assembled in the large hall attached to the Devonshire Arms.
A dramatic performance followed which was so excellently played that it took every one by surprise. The names of the performers were Mrs Schoolar, Misses Briggs and M Tobin, and Messrs Anthony, E G Priest, Burton, Hunt, Fewster, and Briggs. After this was finished the room was cleared for dancing, in which a large number joined, who kept up the rout till late in the morning. [Ref: South Australian Register Wednesday 6-2-1878]
*The South Australian Advertiser of Saturday 23 February 1878 states Mr C E Anthony drew the plans and specifications [of the institute].
The Mintaro Women's Patriotic Club held a successful competitive fete in the Mintaro Institute on March 20, which was very largely attended. During the evening a beautiful roll of honour, the gift of Mr and Mrs Woods, of Martindale, to the town and district was unveiled by the mother who had given the most sons in service for King and country. This honour fell to our late president (Mrs L A Jacobs), who has given all her boys. In a short speech she unveiled the roll. [Ref: The Mail (Adelaide) 13-4-1918]
*MINTARO INSTITUTE
PERMANENT ALTERATIONS AND ADDITIONS
These were declared open to public use on Saturday night, 18th July, when Mr M L Giles, President of the Mintaro Institute presided. After the singing of the National Anthem, the chairman gave a short account of the movement which resulted in the alterations, additions and renovations to the Mintaro Institute Hall. He publicly thanked the District Council of Clare and the Councillors for making available to them the old district council chamber: all subscribers to the special fund, workers — men and women, the Building Committee, and the builder Mr F J Forsaith, and Mr J T Mortlock for his consent in allowing funds in the Mintaro Institute New Building account to be used for the alterations and additions to enable the buildings and funds to be used to make a working proposition of them all.
Mr J T Mortlock in declaring open the building spoke at some length.
A dance and supper followed, being thoroughly enjoyed by all. Much credit was given to the ladies who assisted. [Ref: Northern Argus 24-7-1942]

A build I did for a story written by my bro, Isaiah D. The story is below (it's pretty funny).
It all began with the rascally Horse Guards. Yes, I do declare, though I be one of them, the Intergalactic Horse Guards are always getting in the way of those trying to make an honest living. Well, as I said, it all started off when the Horse Guards came marching into town, spacesuits a-glittering, freeze rays and helmets shining in the morning light. I might as well say at once that I am, or was, at any rate, the master and owner of a decent size pawn shop – which some have most basely insinuated to consist entirely of stolen goods – in the recesses of the dark and narrow streets of Yavario. As a matter of course, it was not long until the newcomers, having finished their illustrious parade, began to look around for souvenirs and the like, and my entrepreneurial enterprise was not behind in serving its customers. After I had outrageously ripped off two or three Horse Guards, in marched their captain, demanding what sort of things were to be found there.
“I’ll say, sir,” I replied with a superb semblance of profound respect, “there isn’t much you can’t find in this my shop. Do these rock-shower shielding umbrellas interest you? Or maybe these gold detecting leather boots which-”
“Playing dumb, master thief?” he asked, leaping onto the table and grabbing my collar, “you know I want that steering wheel you stole off my spaceship last week while I was parked on the third moon of Satudzu...”
“The moon of Sa-what-su?” I queried. “Well, I’ll tell you what. I don’t have it but I could get it for... seven hundred?”
“Very funny. I'll tell you what. Get me that steering wheel before tomorrow or else,” and he uttered a shrill whistle which instantly brought in two or three Horse Guards.
“Come on,” I replied, “there’s got to be some sort of deal we can work out here.”
Before I could finish my proposal, a loud and shrill half meow half Indian war-hoop rang out. The faces of the Horse Guards and their captain blanched and they began to fumble with their weapons.
“El Gatto!” the captain whispered in a terror stricken undertone. “I only hope he hasn’t come for that steering wheel.”
I leaped up and clicked the button on the wall which opened a hidden safe, from which I pulled out the steering wheel. “Well,” I declared, “two thousand now or forever hold your vehicle steering wheel-less.”
“Wait a second,” replied the astonished captain, “didn’t you say seven hundred a minute ago?”
El Gatto strode into the shop. His eyes scanned the Horse Guards and their captain, and then rested on the steering wheel in my hands.
“Neat looking steerin' whel,” he yowled, “I could one o' those about now.” He winked at the captain, and began to walk towards me, while the Horse Guards could do nothing but gaze on in horror. I, however, was too fast for him. Pressing a button in the side of the wall, my five wheeled double motorcycle flew out and I leapt onto it with the steering wheel in my hand, while I crashed through the door of my shop. But this time, El Gatto was quicker than I, and he snatched it out of my hand and tore off in the other direction.
I turned back to the confounded Horse Guards. "Hey," their captain called to me, "I say, if you would agree to return me my steering wheel, I'll give you in the mean time the full power of a Horse Guard."
"A Horse Guard colonel?" I inquired.
"I was thinking more like a private," he replied, ''but I could change that to a lieutenant."
"A Colonel." I responded.
"Captain?"
"Colonel."
"Senior captain?"
"Senior Marshall."
"Deal. Oh, wait a second, did you just say Marshall?"
"A deal's a deal. And, I better be going." And with a wink I drove off after the thieving Gatto.
I sped along the direction he had gone, thinking about that steering wheel. To tell the truth, I had no idea that it was at all important when I had borrowed it, but had had some sort off feeling in my gut telling me it would be a good idea. And now, voila! I had suddenly become a Horse Guard senior Marshall, and was chasing the notorious Gatto for a steering wheel which in all probability contained some secret of tremendous import.
However, all too soon I came to the great divide - the place the road split in two, where, I knew, it would not come back together until I had rounded the entire planet. Had he gone left, or right - that was the question. So much depended on my taking the correct turn - the sweat began to pour down my face, and I slowly skidded to a halt at the juncture. The sign pointed to the left, but, for that matter, it always did. That pointed to the fact that El Gatto had gone to the right, for he would naturally suppose I would go the other way. However, being the notorious villain he is, he would clearly know that I knew his game and would go to the right, and would therefore take the left himself. But I had noted as he escaped that he was driving a Honda - a Japanese car. He would therefore have obviously taken the right, as the Japanese cars disdain following signs.
The fact is, I was so entirely mixed up in my thoughts and impressed with the gravity of the situation, that I failed to notice the loud honking behind me, and the voice of El Gatto as he yowled out, "I don't have all day, ya know! Go one way or to'der already!"
The ultimate decision was before me, but I had made my choice, and was sure it was a wise one. I sped off to the right... and El Gatto, behind me, went to the left. Nevertheless, before he had gone far I saw his car across the divide and discovered, to my horror, that I had taken the wrong path.
There was now no help for it - so I hit the gas and punched the transform button, changing my motorcycle into- a submarine?! I hit it again. It was now a boat.
"Come on, come on!" There, I flew over the divide, barely missing being dashed to pieces against the wall on the opposite side. El Gatto was in my sights. I hit the missile launcher - and blew his car to smithereens. Unfortunately, however, just before it departed to kingdoms come, El Gatto flipped on the autopilot, and dashed out with the steering wheel. I turned on the disguise mode and changed the plane into a tractor.
"Need a lift, sir?" I inquired.
He looked at me suspiciously, and muttered under his breath, "everyone here looks so similar, it is impossible to find out who is who." Then, in a louder tone, "Alrighty bumpkin.''
At this I was highly offended, but wisely concealed it for the time. ''Where are we headed?" the Gatto demanded. I hit the autopilot, turned on the taser beams across the doors, and replied calmly, ''to the Horse Guard barracks, of course. That is, you are going there, I shall borrow this steering wheel from you and say goodbye." And with a wink I jumped out the back door with a parachute on, forgetting in the excitement that I was in a tractor with taser beams crossing the doors.
Well, it didn’t feel very good. But I had the steering wheel. At that second the Intergalactic Horse Guard captain's spaceship - he had been trying to catch up all this time - zipped over me, and I grasped the exhaust pipe as it passed and flipped myself up into the passenger's seat. I noticed just then that we were in the same ship I had taken the steering wheel from in the first place, and that we were about to crash into the tractor. I slammed the wheel into place and swerved just in time to miss it - and instead smashed the ship to pieces on a tree next to the road.
"Thanks!" declared the captain, "that was close."
I'm afraid all that was left of the wreck was the steering wheel. "So," I queried, full of expectancy, "the deal is still on. Three thousand for it?"
The captain looked pensive. "Sounds like a good deal, but all my money was in the ship you just smashed. I've got a great deal for you though - you may keep it yourself."
Epilogue:
So, instead of the three thousand I was hoping for, I ended up instead with a worthless steering wheel - you will remember that the ship it once drove was destroyed by the tree - and a senior Marshall's position in the Intergalactic Horse Guards. To this day, however, they have done nothing worthy of notice.
The build:
I had a good deal of fun with this one, really enjoyed building all the little gimmicks and the floor and walls were pretty fun too. Unfortunately it was rather delicate and very un-presentable from the outside, but on the other hand the motorcycle is quite sturdy. I'll be uploading shots of that in a few days, Lord willing!
If you read the story, on behalf of my brother, thanks!
