I was so excited to pick this book up from the library, expecting to learn something about quipu. It's a collection of poetry.
Deception Pass State Park is a 4,134-acre marine and camping park with 77,000 feet of saltwater shoreline, and 33,900 feet of freshwater shoreline on three lakes. Rugged cliffs drop to meet the turbulent waters of Deception Pass. The park is outstanding for breath-taking views, old-growth forests and abundant wildlife.
If you see a picture of Deception Pass you'll likely say it's pretty or even beautiful. I saw it this past weekend for myself and it was a massive surprise. The water current is visible from the great height of the bridge, traveling through all these narrow channels of rock. Looking down from the bridge it is a great drop to the water. We saw seals swimming in the narrow channel beneath the North span of the bridge. This is looking Northwest from there. I tried to get a shot that captured the vast panorama but the angle of the lens wasnt wide enough..
The guy on our whale watching boat, said Deception Pass is the most photographed point in North America, can you see why?
Deception Bay is the remnant of a former huge volcanic eruption, with the result a large inner protected bay (the last volcanic eruption was about 50 years ago, in a smaller volcano on one side, and the water is still hot inside the bay near the shore, warm enough to swim in)
