From a walk in December

A bird takes off from the shallow waters around Ojima island, next to the, exposed by the low tide, tatami-ishi. The geological feature consists of about a thousand pentagonal and hexagonal rocks 1-1.5m in diameter, formed during the Miocene period by the columnar jointing of andesitic lava as it cooled and contracted. The name tatami-ishi (tatami stones) is derived from the resemblance to a room of close-fitted tatami mats.

A tree that I keep taking pictures off. I love its rough bark, the moss on its old branches and how it casts a shadow.

December Challenge Day 30: Self-Portrait

I like to clone around.

The leopard (Panthera pardus) is one of the five species in the genus Panthera, a member of the Felidae. The leopard occurs in a wide range in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia. Leopards are listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List because leopard populations are threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, and are declining in large parts of the global range. In Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuwait, Syria, Libya, Tunisia and most likely in Morocco, leopard populations have already been extirpated. Contemporary records suggest that the leopard occurs in only 25% of its historical global range. Leopards are hunted illegally, and their body parts are smuggled in the wildlife trade for medicinal practices and decoration.

Whenever we lay down a new carpet, Reylla claims it within minutes. The cat walks on it at her peril.
