Waiting his turn at the feeder which was as usual occupied by a squirrel. The cover of the clothes line is a handy waiting perch for them.

As the holidays approach I wish all my dear Flickr friends a wonderful Christmas & a Happy Healthy 2019. A friendly robin taken yesterday in a local park.

. . . As the clouds rolled in today and the weatherman predicted rain, I was starting to question the decision to go to Point Betsie this afternoon. I was rewarded with this amazing sky and the ever colorful Lake Michigan water!

Have a great week Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!

The world almost became black and white ---for a while at least

A memory from last year -a day of a very long walk (it was warmer than this year !)

How many ways can you look at (and record) a sea shore ?

This is a female Summer Tanager (piranga rubra). The Summer Tanager breeds in the south-central USA and northern Mexico. They winter in Central America and South America as far south as Bolivia. They feed on insects, bees, wasps and wild fruits. The Summer Tanager was originally classified as a tanager, but recently reclassified and placed in the cardinal family. The adult male of this species is the only North American bird that is entirely red. The Summer Tanager and many other North American migrants begin appearing in South America in September and October. They will begin the return trip north in March or April.

The heart-shaped coral rocks at the Tiinu beach on Kouri-jima, a.k.a Koi-Jima (love island), a tiny island off the coast of Okinawa. The island, with a perimeter of 8 kilometers, became famous when the heart-shaped rocks were featured in a television commercial that aired nationwide in Japan. The island became accessible by car when the Kouri Bridge between Kouri Island and Yagaji Island in Nago was built in 2005, and many people flock here to wish for good fortune in love. The love theme continues over at the cave at Chinugu beach, where the Okinawan version of Adam and Eve are believed to have grown their love (pre-apple I suppose).

Came across this magnificent Great Blue Heron today perched way up in a tree alongside a creek. After we left he flew to the water where I later captured a few more photos.
