Our footbridge, largely hidden in summer by foliage, appears to be stark naked in winter. Its concrete body in full visibility. I doubt whether any of this matters to the bridge, but it does to me.
Now what can one photograph in such dark, gloomy weather ? The ring-necked parakeets brighten up the grey winter garden but they arrive so early in the morning when there's only half light. As a result, my snaps are grainy and lacking in focus, but I took the opportunity this morning as there was a red car in the street which matched these colourful birds' beaks nicely.
Final lookback for the railway series sees BR Class 5MT 73156 setting out from Loughborough with the Santa Special stock on its way to Quorn to pick up the families.
The effort needed to start the load of eight coaches, and an English Electric Type 3 behind the tender produced a memorable sound with some well controlled slips on the damp rail
This mornings sunrise was a beauty!
It's still a chilly 2 degrees this morning, but the forecast is for warmer days ahead with temps approaching 60 by Thursday!!

what a Sunday we were just about to go out to a leisurely brunch when I discovered Bailey in Carmens cage and Carmen cowering at the bottom-off to the vets-we came back broke and Carmen is staying overnight-sigh!
After a great day of fishing this is how it ended! Happy New Year!
