A Walk In The Clouds....
There is a beauty in a chilly December morning that can only be experienced by getting up early and getting outdoors;. the view through the bedroom window doesn't even compare.
It is the smack of the bone chilling cold on your cheeks, the rush of winter air as it is inhaled through your nose. it is the sound of the crisp grass crunching underfoot, it is even the sound of frosty fabric swish swishing as you walk...and all of this is only experienced through the briskness and chill of a December morn.
Today the sunrise cut through a thin mist that hung lazily in the air, floating just a few inches off the ground but not high enough to reach the tree tops. The new dawn sky alight with yellow and blue made the moment that much more special...
As i made my way home only a few short minutes later, I looked back only to see the entire scene had changed; the sky had dimmed losing its brilliance and the fog had begun to dissolve and vanished into the far distance. that brief but memorable moment now forever lost never to be repeated exactly the same way.

December, mindent felejtő, kegyes, sötét lelkeket símogató, csend hona a világ hajlik rá, de homály oszlatja.
Fény, magány, mozgó felhők, tova illanás, halálos csend, süketítő véráram zaj. Halott vagyok.
Táviztam. Már nem lebeg előttem női arc.
A halál vakítró fénye szerettetel oszlatja az emlékeket, hisz itt minden mulandó...
... de odaát minden pazar...

The sun came out and it even stopped raining for long enough to get out for a short walk around my nature reserve (or the car park). So glad I did as I found this Drone Fly enjoying the sun and some nectar.
Was a bit surprised to see one so late in the year, but it was good.

The snow hasn't kept everyone inside where the heat happens to be, some are still out and praising those who have full feeders (I'm assuming).
I was stalking squirrels and pigeons this morning, but around 1:00 this afternoon the bird showed up. I could see the chickadees from my dining room window so I slipped on a pair of shoes and ventured outside and to my surprise there was a woodpecker and a few nuthatches out as well!
I didn't manage a decent nuthatch shot, but managed three photos I had a hard time choosing from, and so, as often happens when choosing gets hard, it was time for a triptych!

December was a pretty mild month and we’re enjoying the lack of snow on the ground. We’ve also been enjoying the colors of the lake lately, consisting of mostly pale blues and vibrant teal.

It's been a very busy and jam packed sort of day so I didn't have a lot of time for photos or Flickr.
It's to be expected this time of year I suppose.
But Nard and I got together and went for "Christmas" sushi, then exchanged gifts. He and Jo got me some delicious chocolates and a 1.8 ND filter for my primary lens! I'm so excited to hit the woods and try that out!
One of Nard's gifts was this little Doc Brown figurine, and of course being cramped for time, I borrowed the Doc for a minute to get a festive shot in!
Anyway, hope everyone has had a good day. If I don't get a chance to visit your stream or return a comment this evening, have no fear, tomorrow is a brand new day.

Vágur, Faroe Islands. December is a very dark month in the Faroe Islands. The sun rises late, at around 10 in the morning and sets again at around 2 in the afternoon. The photo was taken before sunrise at 9.15 on 18 December 2011, three days before the shortest day of the year.

A busy but good Saturday, started with the usual breakfast and errands and ended it with a great family dinner at my parent's house.
The first of many Christmas dinners to come.
Good food, and good conversation, what more could you really ask for? Not too much. :)

Limni, on the island of Evia, is a small port, beach and tourist resort, which is beautiful the whole year round. It is located 80 km NW of Chalkida and about 150 km from Athens.
The island of Evia lies along the Eastern coast of Central Greece, and is accessible to the mainland via two bridges, an old wooden bridge and a contemporary suspension bridge. There are also frequent ferries to several parts of the island. It is 175 km long and is the second largest island in Greece, and the third largest in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Taken on the weekend of December 20-21, 2014 while my English wife Theresa Jane Brown and I were visiting friends.

Grumman Martlet Mk II AJ148 was a British Royal Navy fighter aircraft belonging to the 888 Naval Air Squadron, operating in Oran, Algeria, in December 1942. It was present at the La Senia air base during this period, which was part of the operations following the Allied landings in North Africa during Operation Torch. The Martlet was the British designation for the American Grumman F4F Wildcat.

21 December 2020: Update on The Corona Pandemic – Within less than 24 hours of the UK announcement that it has been impacted by a more-infectious and “out of control” coronavirus variant Belgium imposed a 24-hour travel ban on the UK. Also, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands are halting flights. All of these countries took the decision “as a precautionary measure” to prevent the spread of a more contagious strain of coronavirus. Later this morning the EU will decide a more coordinated response to this outbreak. The new strain appeared in mid-September in London or in the south-eastern county of Kent.The UK government has informed the WHO that it has been spreading faster than the original strain – up to 70% faster, according to Boris Johnson. In addition to spreading faster, the new strain was also becoming the “dominant” one, leading to a “very high increase” in hospitalisations in December. Also, in Belgium it stopped raining and started pouring, we are reporting more positive tests, more hospitalizations and more fatalities. Clearly, we are heading towards another expediential rise like the one we saw during the first and second wave. Whether we call it a third wave or not we will need to try to keep it as small as possible. The earlier we start curbing the spread of the virus and the better we are at it, the smaller the impact will be. Oh boy there we go again. At the risk of being perceived as heartless in face of so much misery I’m posting another picture of the Christmas decoration downtown Ghent. The shop on the right is our favorite chocolate shop.
