The engineless remains of D2989 (07005) wait outside the locomotive shed/works at Loughborough for its turn for restoration, 16th December 2012.
Locomotive History
Fourteen 0-6-0 diesel electric shunting engines (D2985 – D2998) were built in 1962 by Ruston and Hornsby specifically for dock yard shunting at Southampton Docks. They became class 07 however with the drastic reduction in wagon load traffic through Southampton Docks in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s the class started to become surplus. Being a small class and with the tendency to run hot when required to travel any distance the class started to be withdrawn as early as May 1973 when D2988/91/92/98 were condemned. D2989 was renumbered 07005 under the 1973 TOPS renumbering scheme. Three further locomotives 07003/09/10 were withdrawn in October 1976 and the remaining seven were withdrawn en-block in July 1977. Following withdrawal 07005 was sold to ICI Wilton, Middlesbrough. In the mid 1990’s it entered preservation and has spent time at Barrow Hill and the Battlefield Line before arriving on the Great Central in May 2008.

A December rose, I think, seems more beautiful than those that bloom in the warmth of summer. This brilliant yellow brings joy to the winter!!

Made it down to the Redondo Fishing Pier in Federal Way, WA for the sunset last night. I was torn between going to my Mt Rainier Vista, or down to a Puget sound Beach. It's been a while since I've been down to Redondo Beach, (California....I wish, but NO), so I wound up at Redondo Beach Fishing Pier-Boat Launch, Federal Way, WA. I got several great shots of the sun setting and the crab fishermen coming into the boat launch to pull their boats out of the water, onto trailers behind pickup trucks. This was my favorite though....so far, with this couple out at the end of the fishing pier sharing in, what seems to be, a intimate moment. Nothing like being a voyeuristic photographer, slinking around a location as the sun is setting, salivating, as couples walk by, hoping they walk into the perfect composition. I was pretty happy with these two at the time. If I was more of a entrepreneur, than a photographer, I'd flip out a business card at them as they walk by, hoping to lure them into purchasing a print for $$$$. Between working on brakes on my van. changing oil in both cars etc, the forty hours a week I spend at my day job, and last but absolutely not least, the quality time I spend with my one true love, Sassy, I'm hoping to get to the entrepreneur part.
Hope you had a fantastic weekend! If not it's almost over and you better get with it. If you didn't well then, if God grants ya...have a fantastic week ahead. Seven days till Christmas! Geterdone! Christmas shoppin' that is.
So many leaves still up in the trees -- it's nearly late December but the trees think it's early November.
This is the West Milton Inn Falls, located in West Milton, Ohio, not far from Dayton. At one time, the West Milton Inn overlooked the falls. Now, they sit behind a furniture store.
Either way, this is a pretty picturesque waterfall, especially sitting right in the middle of town.

Sunset in the fog at minus 5 ° C yesterday at "my" old pear tree.
Due to the dense fog, neither filters nor bracketing were required.

Three days after it had snowed there are still quite a few areas of snow on the ground as 60015 passes through Attenborough working 6M00. 11:40 Humber Oil Refinery – Kingsbury, 29th December 2014.
Locomotive History
60015 was built at the Brush Falcon works at Loughborough in 1990, however it was not formally accepted from Brush by British Rail until March 1993 when it finally completed 1000 hours in traffic without a fault. It was first stored on the July 2004 and over the next seven years would be in and out of store eight times until stored again in November 2011 prior to entering the General overhaul programme. It emerged in early May 2012 and following a couple of test runs and a repaint into DB Schenker red was reinstated to traffic on the 23rd May 2012.

So much colour in my December garden.
This time last year the garden was under a blanket of snow.
Top Pelargonium, Clematis, Rose,
Bottom Viola, Mallow, Veronica.
with cold nights and frozen mornings...
It's time for little stars to cover everything while the wind brings in the scent of winter... of crisp air and wood smoke...
Nights are longer... cold and dark... but tiny lights adorn the houses...
There is cold in the sparkle... there is warmth in the light...

A montage of sunset shots I took at Holly Park on Lake Lanier on December 27th. The rain ended long enough for the sun to come out for a little while and provide this beautiful sunset. The water level was high, but nothing like it would be in three days.

One aspect of a beautiful and breathtaking December sunrise as seen from my back yard. The sky was as if a fire was burning within it.
