Here is another view of the pretty Agave plant. It is neat how red the spines look in this light. It kind of reminds me how much damage they can do if I'm not careful!

Wish digital didn't blow out the brilliant orange of the sun itself. I tried painting it back in, but can't get the right look.

My dearest aunt Roberta Josephine "BobbyJo" Smith Mills was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago and last November ('07) her kidneys began to fail. At everyones' insistence she tried dialysis but it wasn't helping so she decided to just let go.
Her doctors gave her 2 days - 2 weeks to live but she miraculously made it to see
her grand niece get married a year later, another birthday,November 24th and one more Christmas.
She left this world today at age 79.
Last April I discovered these "spoon" daisies while on a roadtrip see here - they reminded me of the "spoons" card game we used to play together when I was little. After finding out from Flickr friends what they were I searched the nurseries and found these pretty purple ones(we like purple in my family!)
and bought one for Aunt Jo and one for me.
I was happy with many blooms over the spring & summer and brought it inside when it got cold not really expecting it to live for long. Anyway, long story long - it bloomed these beautiful spoons on this day, the day she died.
It doesn't seem any crazier to believe in little miracles like this than anything else so I'm taking this as a wink from my mom's little sis.

Temperatures in southern Ontario have continued to be higher than normal through December causing some early budding on plants and trees that are normally dormant this time of year.

We keep this clock on the top of the TV in our dining room. Matt bought it for Tim last Father's Day. It's useful as it has a thermometer, so we can see how cold we are in winter!!
Went to the old Coastguard station at Covesea hoping for decent shot of the Zhi Yuan Kuo but it was too far away, and in a rain shower. So at least I've got it in the frame here. I suppose if the wind turbine bases were actually made in this country we wouldn't get all those Chinese heavy lift vessels going by.
