It was cold and frosty outside when I woke up early this morning on this new year`s eve and snapped some of that frost on one of the backyard shrubs.

Just wanted to wish a happy new years to all who`ve shown me good times love and kindness over time. You all know who you are!

Thank you!

Comments always appreciated, as long as you keep it clean - I love to hear your feedback! xx

I went out for a meal in Hull with my dear friend Andrew. Wenwent to Hitchcock's restaurant which is a vgetearian, all-you-can-eat place which does incredible food.

The theme this night was Indian and it did not disappoint! We had a wonderful time.

I would seriously recommend Hitchcock's to anyone, even if you're not vegetarian. It's absolutely amazing!

This is my "go to" christmas cookie recipe. Super simple, not too sweet, and decadent, i love them irrationally. But I only make them at this time of year. Like i need to be eating cookies or anything.

Butter Nut Balls (heh) (makes 24-30 cookies)

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter (i used salted for this batch and that's fine too. I like the extra saltiness)

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp vanilla

4 tbsp sugar

1 cup flour

1 cup ground pecans (i use a coffee grinder)

confectioners sugar

mix together the first 4 ingredients.

in a separate bowl, mix flour and ground pecans.

mix dry ingredients in with the butter-sugar mixture.

roll into 3/4 inch balls (heh) and place on cookie sheet.

bake at 300 degrees F for 25-30 minutes. i bake mine for 25 minutes. you don't want them to brown really. just cook.

let cool thoroughly then roll in confectioners sugar.

i've had these made with walnuts, but i think with pecans they are much better.

Leafless branches reflected on the surface of the Basingstoke Canal.

No animals were harmed in the production of this image, but a stone was thrown, and contrast was tweaked a little.

I do believe that if you haven't learnt about sadness, you cannot appreciate happiness.

A Bufflehead ducks. The contrast between the white and darker feathers make these bird hard to photograph. This picture was taken near sunset when the light is soft, reducing contrast. The Bufflehead are winter residents here, very small and often called cute.
