The last in a series from a December evening closing in over icy Lake Harriet.

The 10-photo series has garnered way more attention that I ever expected. I thank you all for the kind comments and numerous invites!

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

What a brilliant, clear moon in the sky tonight - but oh, so frosty!!

the outskirts of my small town and the forest, the snow that fell on December 24, has melted by today

to be honest, this week was a struggle. i let the to-do lists go each day in favor of making time for me.

Yesterday afternoon, while finishing up from filling the feeders, as I was entering the house through the basement patio door, I spotted this little Anole lizard clinging onto the bottom panel of the screen door - on the inside of the door.

At first, due to the very pale color and location, I thought it was a leaf that had gotten stuck on a cobweb, but when I reached to clear it off. I realized it was an anole! Not sure if it was still alive I touched the tail and it moved.

Uh oh! What's a lizard doing out in December? I thought they hibernated when the temperature started dropping, and we've had some temps hitting the freezing mark off and on for the past few weeks.

So, I secured the screen door to keep the wind from slamming it shut and smashing our little visitor, hoping it would move along once it realized the coast was clear.

Then late last night, around midnight, I did a lizard check, and it had moved off the screen door and onto the door frame. *sigh*

Knowing we had freezing temps last night, first thing I did when I woke up this morning was a lizard check - and it was STILL there. We had to run some errands today, so after we got home early this afternoon, I did another lizard check. And it was STILL there!

Unfortunately, I now had to fill all the feeders and Goodie Bowls, going in and out the patio door - and it barely budged as I walked past it several times. Decided to get some shots to document this December Drama, hoping it would not jump off the doorframe and run into the house. Thankfully, it stayed put!

Finally, this evening before dark, I did another lizard check -- and it was gone! Whew! I hope it wandered back to its lair, to finish hibernating safe and sound until spring rolls around!

Yup, more holiday bokeh and fun. I'd apologize for the repetition but we only get to enjoy the warm holiday lights for so long each year so I'm going to enjoy it.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

I thought this was the last I'd see of the sun for a while so I went for a walk with my boys down to the river to make the most of it. I'm praying they have the forecast wrong!

There were some overly friendly swans trying to eat my camera strap when I took this. I was more worried about my camera falling into the river than being pecked to death!

I thought this shot was best presented in Black and White.

Looking South into low December sun about 10 a.m.

I'll say a word here about my fondness for rangefinder cameras. They're light and fast. One sets the exposure and focus before raising camera to eye, and the only thing between your eye and the scene is a bit of glass and the framelines. They bring a great deal of freedom, including the very liberating freedom from batteries!

Preoccupante l'assenza di neve nonostante sia dicembre inoltrato. Preoccupanti anche le temperature ben al di sopra della media.

I think Sophie may be in competition with Tigs over who has the best resting cranky face'.
