I just got around to watching the original Twin Peaks last fall and finally got all the way caught up with The Return just last night.
And holy cow, I absolutely adore this weird and fascinating show! It's definitely left a huge impact on me, and I'm still taking it all in. After finishing it, I really wanted to recreate as much of the cast of the original show as I could in Lego form, so here they are! I also tried to make it look like most of these minifigs came straight from the 90's, which is why I kept them yellow and with some older pieces.
Hope everyone enjoys!
Installation after a drawing by David Lynch; designed for the exhibition 'David Lynch: The Air is on Fire," Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, Paris, 2007.
Collection: Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain.
This theatre decor recreates Lynch's drawing of a 'little room,' inviting audiences to walk in and through the limits of the original illustration. The installation was conceived for 'The Air is on Fire,' Lynch's first major retrospective at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, Paris, in 2007, and features a soundscape of the same name composed by Lynch and his musical collaborator Dean Hurley. The aural element of the work sits between musique concrete and sound design, with Lynch and Hurley using a range of samples Hurley has described as 'brief phrases of machines working,' 'characteristic winds,' 'punch-presses pitched down,' 'train mechanisms and large steel factory samples,' and 'metal structures that were welded together'.

Ray Wise at the 2011 Twin Peaks Festival. He complimented me on my Goodfellas t-shirt, & when I asked him what his favourite Scorsese film is, he said he really likes Gangs of New York.
I've watched Gangs of New York over the last year & a half after not having seen it in years, & I've come to love it even more than I did when I was a kid.
We also had a bit of a chat about Bram Stoker's Dracula, as I had asked him if he had a first edition copy since I heard he did.
He is very nice.

This street in Rimini is named after the wife & muse of Federico Fellini. I used my really wide 14mm lens as I wanted to get the street sign in the shot.
I took this in 2019, but February 22 2021 is Giulietta's 100th birthday.
She was a wonderful actress & I've been told from people that knew her & Federico well that she was a wonderful lady. She was very nice.
In 2015 when David Lynch came to Australia for his very first exhibition here, I saw him in conversation with David Stratton. David (Stratton), said he first saw Blue Velvet at the Montreal Film Festival & asked if that was the world premiere.
Lynch responded that it was, & then he mentioned that he got to dance with Giulietta Masina, & that she was a beautiful soul.
I had always wanted to know more about Lynch's experience meeting her, & when it was announced in around July 2018 that some of the cast of Twin Peaks were touring Australia & New Zealand, I immediately bought my VIP tickets, & when they announced that David Lynch was going to answer questions submitted by VIP ticket holders, I immediately jumped on the chance to do so.
I was one of the very lucky few whose questions were selected, & I was in shock.
I was at the Sydney event & we got to ask two questions to Lynch on stage via Skype.
My first question was:
"I saw you speak with David Stratton in Brisbane for your exhibition in 2015 & he asked you about Blue Velvet at the Montreal Film Festival, & then you went on to mention that you got to dance with Giulietta Masina. I was just wondering how that came about & what was it like speaking to her in real life?"
He responded:
"It was a beautiful night. At the festival I think Giulietta Masina was on the jury and after Blue Velvet screened there in Montreal everybody was asked to go to this ballroom—and there was going to be a dinner and a party afterward. And at this ballroom they came to me and they said ‘We would like you to start the dancing with Giulietta Masina’. And I thought I had died and gone to heaven. And I see her and the music starts, and I go to her. And she is coming over to me. And away we go, starting the dancing in the ballroom with me and Giulietta Masina. It was unbelievable. And I’m dancing with her and I want to ask her about Federico Fellini, and I’m looking at her face and I’m at a loss for words”
It meant so much to me to be able to ask Lynch about this & his response made me feel emotional as I love her. She was such a wonderful actress & very special lady.
Now, I am an IMMENSELY shy person, & I cannot handle public speaking at all, so I was very nervous, but I got my questions out very easily. It also put me at ease a lot when the audience responded very positively to my questions & Lynch's answers.
I also (when I can), attend film history courses with David Stratton (fellow Australians should know who he is), & at the end of each class there is a bit of a discussion where people give comments.
I've always been too afraid to say anything, but ever since my moment speaking to Lynch, I have made comments at the end of some of these classes, which makes me feel good about myself.

We've met before, haven't we?
I don't think so. Where was it you think we met?
At your house. Don't you remember?
No. No, I don't. Are you sure?
Of course. As a matter of fact, I'm there right now.

a couple of days ago,
i posted a photograph
trying to tie together
the Sound of Music,
an animated movie called Madagascar,
and lyrics by Rammstein,
a German heavy-metal band
~ OK, a bit of a stretch,
I gotta admit,
but you can’t blame me for trying,
can you?
anyway,
i got a couple of great emails
from Modular
which mentioned,
among other things,
that david hasselhof
succeeded in germany as a singer.
the name probably gave him
a bit of a leg up,
of course,
but that’s pretty good.
and I guess the point is that
rammstein can have some success
in the usa
notwithstanding the fact that
they put a fucking u-boat
on the cover of their last album.
what do they call that?
irony?
well, anyway, you see what I mean.
where was I?
oh yeah,
Modular mentioned that
david lynch used Rammstein music
in some of his movies,
so i went and rented “lost highway.”
it was a friday night and all,
so i dragged the TV out on the patio,
popped a beer open,
fired up a cigar,
and sat back to see what it was all about.
damn, it is a strange movie!
maybe was the cigar,
but I was sweating so much that
i had to take my coat off.
that night,
i didn’t sleep a wink
the images kept pulsing
through my brain
it can’t all be sex and death,
can it?

this magic moment
so different and so new
was like any other
until i kissed you
and then it happened
it took me by surprise
i knew that you felt it too
by the look in your eyes
sweeter than wine
softer than the summer night
everything I want I have
whenever I hold you tight
this magic moment
while you lips are close to mine
will last forever
forever until the end of time

The Q&A for the 2014 UK Twin Peaks Festival at the Genesis Cinema in Whitechapel.
It was an interesting coincidence that the venue was in Whitechapel, as it was originally going to be held somewhere else in London (I can't remember where), but with the announcement of Sheryl attending it made demands for tickets that much higher so they decided to change to a larger venue. It was also at this Q&A that they officially announced that they were going to be in the new series, which got a huge reaction.
We had already decided to stay in Whitechapel, due to my interest in the Ripper & I wanted to photograph the area & sites related to the crimes.
I was also able to see Martin Scorsese's The Irishman at this cinema in November 2019. It was an incredible experience. The 3.5 hours just flew by.
