-My repost from 2010 whwn I was lucky to meet him briefly,
when he visited Oslo and signed his book "Catching the big fish".
Even though I dont find appealing the "Cow Parade" I found this two cows rather interesting, they were handcrafted by the Huicholes, an indigenous ethnic group of Western Central Mexico that live in the Sierra Madre Occidental, in the states of Nayarit and Jalisco. Due to longtime deliberate isolation and resistance to evangelism they have retained much of their original culture. They call themselves "Wixáritari" or "the people" in their native Huichol language they call "Wixárika".
In traditional Huichol communities, an important ritual artefact is the nieli'ka: a small square or round tablet with a hole in the center covered on one or both sides with a mixture of beeswax and pine resin into which threads of yarn are pressed. Nieli'kas are found in most Huichol sacred places such as house shrines (xiriki), temples, springs and caves.

Food for the viewing of the final episode of Twin Peaks.
I watched it when it originally aired on TV. Owned the VHS, but it took a long time for the whole series to make it to DVD. 4 of us have had a weekly viewing for a while now, it finally wrapped up Thursday night.
The title might be considered as weird and it is eventually true. This refers to David Lynch's ability to find amazing buildings that almost breathe in his films.
This also refers to In every dream home a heartache, a song covered by Rozz Williams and Gitane Demone. Both icons I worship.
Double exposure in Rimini of the Parco Federico Fellini sign, with the other shot being the back of my Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with me jacket made for the cast/crew during the making of the film. Just something I wanted to try out.

Double Exposure self portrait inside the Red Room that was set up at the 2012 Twin Peaks Festival. I was pleased how this turned out as I needed someone else to press the shutter, which can sometimes result in blurred backgrounds. I forgot all about the timer function, which is how I usually do multiple exposures like this.

… “Mack, are you working on a new story?”
… “yes.”
… “about?”
… “about a man who learns Spanish by reading the poetry of Pablo Neruda.”
… “and?”
… “and eventually the sum total of his world becomes Neruda's poetry.”
… “so … ?”
… “so his perception of everything is locked into Neruda's imagery.”
… “so what if a man asks him something practical like, 'Donde esta el baño?'”
… “well, he'd answer, 'No es nada, es un sombra, una pisada de caballo vago.'”
… “meaning?”
… “meaning, 'it's nothing, a shadow, the step of a wandering horse.'”
… “isn't that like a non sequitur or something?”
… “well, right, but life's conclusions never follow from its premises anyway.”

"So you just do what you gotta do
My wild sweet love
Though it may mean that I'll never kiss
Those sweet lips again
Pay that no mind
Find that dappled dream of yours
Come on back and see me when you can...."

This house in North Bend was used as the Johnson home in the Twin Peaks pilot & I think Fire Walk with Me as well.
Taken during the 2011 Twin Peaks Festival, the organizers were able to arrange groups to go here to take shots. The owner came out & chatted with us too.

The death of director David Lynch made me remember just how much I enjoyed Twin Peaks.
It was totally ground-breaking television, a captivating mix of drama, mystery, comedy and surrealism.
I should have had a mug of "damn fine coffee", some donuts or cherry pie to style this.
Instead I dug out the boxed set I found in a charity shop several years ago.
Think it might be time to watch the series that remains one of my all time favourites along with The Sopranos and The Young Pope.

While studying at the American Film Institute in 1970, Lynch wrote an unproduced script called Garden Back 1970, in which a man's adulterous lust for a woman transformed into an insect and grew to a monstrous size inside the 'attic' of his head. The script evolved from the figure in this painting, described by Peggy Reavey as 'a stooped figure with green things growing out of its back.'
Lynch struggled to resolve the project and in 1971 transferred the two protagonists - Henry and Mary - to a new script which became the basis for Eraserhead 1977.
“I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange."
