Population density and Twitter geotag density seem to be very close to being linearly related, except that the very most densely populated areas have a slightly higher rate of geotagging, and the very most sparsely populated a slightly lower rate, and that there are some places with no population at all that do get geotagged (perhaps parks, monuments, and large shopping or office areas).

Ivan is Invo's current coop engineer concentrating on data mining, numerical simulation, and data visualization.
As a research associate at the University of Rochester Physics department, Ivan investigated visualization techniques for hydrostatic equilibrium conditions and developed and ran a parallelized hydrodynamic simulation on several of the world's biggest computing resources. This research was presented at the American Astronomical Society in 2012 in his poster titled, "The Evolution of Accretion Disks in Stellar Interiors".
After growing up in Rome, Italy, Ivan is now finishing his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. He'll graduate in December 2013.
He is currently working on the open source Visual Town Budget project.

One of the most interesting new data centers in the world is under construction right now in Utah, just south of Salt Lake City. Despite being publicly owned, and one of the largest of its kind anywhere, it’s surprisingly hard to find open information on its details. As it happens, it’s owned by the NSA, which apparently has huge data processing needs. It won’t open until late this summer, but the OpenStreetMap community has already mapped it in detail from satellite photos, and you can find your way around it on our maps if you’re ever invited on a tour.
Earlier today, the Guardian's data store released a list showing how much different countries and organizations have pledged to the Haiti eathquake aid effort.
I built a visualization tool to turn these numbers into something real - first, I asked how much money was being spent per citizen of these countries. Then I took that figure and converted it to Avatar minutes: how many minutes of Avatar would this earthquake aid pay for?
Sweden gives up the most Avatar minutes (37 - almost a quarter of the film) while Canada donates just 3 minutes of Avatar time per citizen (which probably wouldn't even make it through the credits).

It's probably because outsourcing businesses such as data entry services have been one of the key drivers of India's economy in recent times. The outsourcing businesses were the first to feel the heat of the subprime meltdown probably because of the depreciating value of dollar against most of the major world currencies including the Indian Rupee. Dollar depreciation means less pay for the same effort and costs for outsourcing companies and this is exactly how the outsourcing industry has been affected by the subprime meltdown.
