A trio of GE C40-8s (9272, 9336, 9211) pull piggyback trailers east through Echo Canyon as viewed from the Lincoln Highway bridge at Emory, Utah. Interstate 80 parallels the tracks through the canyon.
Despite the warmth of some winter sun at Martin Mere, although most welcome, this little visitor didn't hang about for long.
CSX 26 leads an eastbound sand train at Tinley Park 80th Avenue as a snowstorm bears down full-force. 12/11/16
He was handsome from the depth of his eyes to the gentle expressions of his voice.

I had visit's from both male and female Sparrowhawks today.
The female spent an hour sitting on various feeders and ignoring the smaller birds dashing to the feeder cage.
She was waiting for the Stock Doves who arrived en masse to feast on the Pheasant corn.
I assume she caught one as they all left together in a flurry.

Union Pacific's hot NPLAZ rockets through Erda, Utah on the historic San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Route.
Mr. Harrop was a big fan of UP's new GE C40-8 locomotives, and went out of his way to catch them when factory fresh.
A limestone pool barn makes it's way back towards Proctor with an empty train of Missabe side-dumpers while a fresh coat of white stuff falls.
C-GLQN, a Bombardier DHC-8-402 Q400 , on approach to runway 4L at Boston Logan International Airport in East Boston, Massachusetts.
It was arriving as POE945 (Porter Airlines Inc.) from downtown Toronto, Ontario.
"Cunhinga", a De Havilland Canada DHC-8-402 Dash 8-400, departing runway 33 at Downsview Airport in Toronto, Ontario.
It was heading to Muskoka Airport in Gravenhurst, Ontario.
C-GRQV, serial number 4630, was wearing the attractive livery of TAAG - Linhas Aereas de Angola, E.P of Luanda, Angola.
More than four months after this photograph was taken, it departed Downsview Airport on delivery as D2-TFE at 10AM (EST/GMT-5) on Saturday January 22, 2022.
It then visited St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador; Santa Maria, Portugal; Nouakchott, Mauritania; and Accra, Ghana before arriving at Luanda, Angola at 3PM (WAT/GMT+1) on Monday January 24.

The calm and serenity of the Oxford Canal at Ansty is shattered by No. 70000 'Britannia', which was decidedly well in command of Steam Dreams 1Z70, 0644 Horsham - Chester charter as it charged north on 10th May 2025. The expectatrion was that the diesel at the rear would be providing assistance, but as the train passed it was obvious the Brush Type 4 No. 1924 "Crewe Diesel Depot' was just ticking over, and no doubt enjoying the ride! The snow stopped falling by the time Q032 passed, but the powder was still flying. It seems CSX has started applying a circular "DP" logo to the lower front corner of the nose on locomotives equipped for DPU service. There was a distributed power unit midway through the consist on this day.

Greater Yellowlegs
Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge, CA
I seldom see Yellowlegs completely out of water, so it was a treat to see this one dashing about the mudflats.
A westbound coal train passes under the intermediate signals at Brooks just west of Hinton, kicking up fresh powder on a bitterly cold morning.
With an absolute downpour of rain coming down, northbound Amtrak Northeast Regional train #84 isn't phased as it rockets by the Ruther Glen, VA, intermediate signals on the morning of July 23, 2019.
