I have walked along the Danforth for a substantial part of my life. Walking past these doors this morning, the way the sun shone and revealed a multitude of textures drew me in. Most of these doors to the apartments have been changed, as the Danforth has changed. I loved all the textures: curtains, lace, blinds, air conditioner, floor tiles, and chipping paint. Beauty in the mundane details.
Mid-morning shadow of a light standard on the east wall of the Shoppers Drug Mart at Coxwell and Danforth
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere I go. Take a look in the five and ten glistening once again, with candy canes and silver lanes aglow.

I love the chimney on the TTC building on the left side.

I like the way the parrot's colours match the Cash Money sign in the background. I don't recommend payday loan operations for anything else if you can help it. Spotted on the Danforth
Broadview Subway Station, Danforth Avenue, Toronto.
Over 40 years of commuters stepping in exactly the same place when stopping before the turnstile, caused these ghostly footprints to be worn into the granite tiles.
The photo was taken in 2012. The tiles, installed in 1966, were replaced in 2013.

I saw this trailer on Danforth Ave. in Toronto's east end. There was a stack of rough timbers at the curb in front of it which I took to be shoring to support the earth around excavations. I looked up the company that owns the trailer and see that they are Toronto based and specialize in sewer projects. Since many of Toronto's underground sewers (especially in this part of town) are more than 100 years old, the city has an ongoing project to modernize these old sewers and ensure separation of raw sewage from clean runoff from rain. Something tells me I wil soon be seeing some major construction work on the Danforth.
Eastern Maine Railway train 907-2 rolls west through Danforth with a mixed bag of motive power on 1/2/2023.
At the time, EMR was running four road jobs a day, with 907/908 running in the morning and 120/121 in the evening/night. On this day I managed to grab MNR 910 and 909. My original plan was to go after 909-2, however my late friend David Bernier gave me a heads up that he would be deadheading to McAdam to bring 907-2 west. So after shooting 908-2 at Knights, I bailed and went to Vanceboro, catching up and passing the taxi along the way.
907-2 would meet 908-2 before continuing on west. If memory serves correct, they dropped the rear of their train (woodchip & log cars) at Hardy Pond, before heading to Brownville Jct.
This would be the last time I would see Dave before his passing. He would pass away on March 9th, after complications from a surgery to remove his pancreatic cancer.
