CN L555 works it’s way north through Danforth, IL on its way to Otto, IL. This train very often utilizes one of the few remaining IC Deathstar Locomotives on CN’s roster. That, along with many of the classic IC landmarks left along the IC Mainline, makes for quite a few unique shots between Gilman and Kankakee. Nothing quite like seeing IC power on its home turf!

While chasing CN A408 south with its aging pair IC SD70's, a random sun hole began to appear on a predominantly overcast day, needless to say I persisted South until the hole matched up with the tracks and miraculously, here we have a matched set of Illinois Central SD70's leading CN train A408 by the original Illinois Central depot in Danforth, IL.

Originally known as Chester Baptist Church, the Sunday School was completed in 1911, designed by John Francis Brown. The main church building fronting onto Danforth Avenue was completed in 1931, one of the last works of architect John Wilson Siddall. In 2014, a development application was submitted proposing the demolition of the church. This prompted a study by Heritage Preservation Services, which recommended designating the church under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. The development never proceeded, and the motion to designate the church was deferred indefinitely.

I walked up on the Main Street viaduct after being told my haircut was cancelled... I bought some disposable masks, ate a pizza, and dropped 80 bucks on an Akron Canton & Youngstown colour book in a hobby shop I found along the Danforth. Good day.

With the white class lights on (for fun), GO 564 leads an early afternoon Lakeshore East train into Danforth on the way to Oshawa. I ended up riding this train to Rouge Hill and then biking up to Beare to catch some CN trains, and this was a nice start to the adventure!

I have walked along the Danforth for a substantial part of my life. Walking past these doors this morning, the way the sun shone and revealed a multitude of textures drew me in. Most of these doors to the apartments have been changed, as the Danforth has changed. I loved all the textures: curtains, lace, blinds, air conditioner, floor tiles, and chipping paint. Beauty in the mundane details.
