I got a care package in the mail a couple weeks ago from Patrick :) it was around Valentine's day so it had a bouquet of chupachups, koala cookies and a huggable koala buddy, a mechanical watch, five promises, and a roll of film. He shot it all in one day, showing me a day in the life of Patrick :) it was really sweet of him... I've been in a photo slump lately and haven't had any photos to process at all, so having a roll to develop, scan, and just see what he sees in a usual day meant a lot to me :D things have been rough around here... it's been hard to keep myself productive when I'm not at work. Just wanted to say thank you, Patrick :) I love you so much!

Every morning starts with a brisk 2 mile walk with Bailey. This is followed closely by a pour over coffee perfectly creamed to just the right color. #cy365 #captureyour365 Day16/365 #dailyroutine #everyday
I've been taking photos of a number of vacant homes for a sociology project, and have been finding these scrawled "flow charts" on wooden board-ups. These 2 panels are on separate buildings a few miles apart on the West side, though were obviously written by the same person. My partner on the project has seen more identical panels in other areas.

Nestled against a weathered, textured wall bearing the faint red script of urban graffiti, a young mother shares a quiet, intimate moment nursing her infant on the streets of Argentina. She wears a striking black and white keffiyeh-style head wrap that contrasts with her dark hair, framing a face illuminated by a gentle, maternal smile. Her baby is swaddled tightly in a vibrant, multi-colored knit blanket striped in bold hues of red, pink, and azure, topped with a soft white beanie. The atmosphere is one of profound tranquility amidst the bustling energy typically found in Argentine urban centers, highlighting the universal and timeless act of motherhood. Her relaxed posture, wrapped in a heavy, olive-green garment, suggests a cool climate, perhaps typical of a crisp Patagonian afternoon or a brisk winter day in Buenos Aires. The peeling paint and distressed concrete of the building behind her provide a gritty, authentic backdrop that grounds the portrait in the everyday reality of local life. Shot during what appears to be the golden hour, the warm, directional natural light softly sculpts the mother's features and highlights the intricate textures of the surrounding architecture. Deep, rich shadows envelop the right side of the frame near the dark wooden doorway, creating a striking chiaroscuro effect that draws the viewer's eye directly to the brightly illuminated subjects. A carefully chosen, slightly shallow depth of field keeps the background elements present but subordinate, ensuring the emotional connection between mother and child remains the undeniable focal point. This compelling portrait captures the resilience and warmth inherent in the diverse faces that define the cultural fabric of South America. This shot was taken for the UTATA Iron Photographer 18 Project.
I have to admit this shot was her idea. I had something totally different in mind. I told her the requirements of the photo (something blue, reflected in a mirror, soft focus) and she just batted her eyes at me. She has the most bright blue eyes of any girl I know.
I added the soft focus effect in Photoshop, but kept the sharpness in her eyes.
She wasn't feeling top notch this evening but she stood in as my model anyway. Thanks Babe!
When work is slow, I tell Linda the secretary "I'm gonna step out for some coffee." Then I go to this little out of the way coffee shop and scope out the NYTimes while sipping my venti iced vanilla latte. It's my daily bread.
Choices and Daily Rituals
Story: I see them daily, following the same routine, saying the same things, and living the same day repeatedly. They take identical pictures and check their reflections on every surface. The world is vast, full of opportunities and choices, but they, like me, wear dark glasses as they go through life. I wish I could shake myself and realise the chances I'm missing, but I'm in a trance, convinced that this narrow path is all there is. Existence keeps moving on, and it pains me that I can't see past the capital waste. We could achieve so much if we didn't sit on the fence and merely comment on each other. But here I am, watching this play with the spectators, where the power to change the script is on the tip of our tongues, yet we decide not to say it.
Description: Dive into the profound narrative of life in repetition, where each day mirrors the last. This exploration goes beyond the surface, questioning the comfort of routine and the opportunities that whisper for attention. It's a call to recognise the vastness of life's stage and our power to change the script that shapes our existence.
