Every morning, a different message. He reads it to her, she copies him and sounds out the words. "What's be brave Mama?" She doesn't realize that she already has that one covered.

There were a number of conspiring factors behind my not walking to work today, not least among them that my shoes smell too bad to wear to work. I noticed yesterday when I got them out of the front hall closet that they smelled very strongly of cat pee. When I got them to work I had to find a box with a lid to keep them in so my whole hallway wouldn't stink from them. I left them outside overnight in the hopes that they would air out, and wasn't willing to spend another day in the office worrying that everyone on my floor was in their lab going, "Dear god what is that STENCH?"

Have you ever thought about how you would fill a glass of water if you couldn't see the glass and the water and you could only use your sense of touch to do the task? A very effective way is to put the tip of your finger over the edge of the glass. When you feel the water on the tip of your finger, stop - the glass is full. You must be careful, though: this technique only works with cold drinks. For hot drinks, you would have to rely on a little device called the liquid level indicator, which would remind you that the glass is full.

To find out what's in the jar you can look through the glass, you can open the lid and look inside, or you can use your fingers to "see" the contents written in Braille.

I can read Braille with both my right and my left hand, so it doesn't matter which one I use to feel the embossed letters. Reading Braille with both hands is easier, since it helps you find the next line in the text, but using both hands is not necessary. You can read just as well with just one hand or just one finger. However, being able to recognize Braille with both hands sure is practical.

I've labelled everything in the kitchen with Braille, and I now use the labels to find what I want. I'm also making labels for other things around the apartment.

It's my Mum's birthday today! I've made her this card to put together with the present. It says "Happy birthday, Mum! Your daughter"

Days Apart

I got a care package in the mail a couple weeks ago from Patrick :) it was around Valentine's day so it had a bouquet of chupachups, koala cookies and a huggable koala buddy, a mechanical watch, five promises, and a roll of film. He shot it all in one day, showing me a day in the life of Patrick :) it was really sweet of him... I've been in a photo slump lately and haven't had any photos to process at all, so having a roll to develop, scan, and just see what he sees in a usual day meant a lot to me :D things have been rough around here... it's been hard to keep myself productive when I'm not at work. Just wanted to say thank you, Patrick :) I love you so much!

I drag myself out of bed... I start driving to work... and I'm usually treated to a gorgeous sky for the sunrise...

Now, the 2nd one I put in there, not because I go to church every day.. but a lot of the time, I have those moments where I'm thankful for the things I have in life... and I make sure to mention that... or say a quick prayer for my friends that might be having a rough time in life.. To me, its that one moment of pure clarity that I'm able to have that makes everything perfect.

Then... there's work. I work for the automotive industry here at work, designing tooling and machining concepts for our customers. Sometimes its a pain in the butt... but sometimes its really rewarding.

And then lastly... the sunsets around here. During the winter there are usually clouds that are a blazing when the sun hits them correctly...

Then... I get to come home and enjoy life with my wife. I'm sure you'll see enough pictures of that soon enough. lol.

Well, at least I try to become this a daily! routine.

A woman holds a nasal spray close to her nose while sitting indoors. She appears focused on the task. Natural light comes from a nearby window.

I think I have been infected by different kind of desease. And yep, I have not found any cure as yet....

Day 27: Daily Routine--drinking hot herbal tea. a cup of this stuff calms me and makes me feel good all over.

A man stands on a city sidewalk, engaged in a phone conversation. Dressed in a red jacket, blue jeans, and brown shoes, he seems focused on the call, with urban life moving around him.

A picture should be looked at - not talked about.

The steps I walk everyday to my office, and the desk I sit at to do my work. We might be behind on the times in equipment ;) but we get the honor of growing students in Christ every single day. Such a treasure!

Most days I get a salad: lettuce, red peppers, onions, egg, beans, bleu cheese, oil and vinegar and walnuts. This is where I sit and listen to podcasts like the PEN15 club or the Entertainment Beat with Frances Gumm.

In the train it's nice to read... while ebooks might not be more comfortable than dead tree books they sure are easier to carry!
