July 20, 2015 - How do you get the best seat in the house for a movie?

Get stuck in traffic and miss the showing you were after, so find yourself an hour early for the next one.

This is the first time we've been the first ones into a movie :)

Name: Mango Shape of Haze to Come

Brewery: Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.80%

Notes: An American Double / Imperial IPA “conditioned on a metric fuck ton of mango”.

Many years ago when people spoke of American beer they were speaking mainly of the watery flavorless lagers produced by Poor, Miller and Budweiser. When Americans talked of good beer, they were speaking mainly about German, British and Belgian beer.

It was because of my experience with cheap mass produced American beet — aka. pure shit — that I was not originally a beer drinker. My Americans friend enjoyed drinking as much of this piss water as they could for as little as they could; the dreaded $1 pint of swill. The American beer industry was dominated by a handful of large corporations making a very limited, and subpar range of ales.

However, in the last three decades, the American craft beer revolution has transformed and progressed.

Craft beer is now brewed all across the United States with an increasing number of small and independent brewers experimenting with new ingredients and brewing methods. American consumers are increasing drawn to the interesting flavors craft brewers offer.

According to the Brewers Association, the number of operating U.S. breweries grew 16.6 percent from 2015 to 2016 and small and independent breweries accounted for 99 percent of the operating breweries in the U.S. in 2016.

This is good. This is progress.

HFF!

It was another charity dress down Friday at work today and when I got to work I realised the t-shirt I put on had a fence on it! One day it may feature in a Fence Friday shot...

Check out the blog for a giveaway and coupon code today. It's all action packed!

September 16, 2015 - Not much to look at on today's flight to Bella Coola.

Usually I get to see mountains and glaciers below, today it was a pillow of white below a blank slate of blue.

October 18, 2015 - While hunting for a box of Mom's photo albums I opened a bankers box of items left with me by one of my Uncles.

At the bottom of the cardboard box was an old metal box that was a bit of time capsule, containing items dating back as far as 1905, or perhaps farther.

HWW! This wall was obviously built to hold back the Pacific Ocean, and seems to be doing its job admirably. It may look like a pile of rocks, and to be honest that's how I remember it looking, but if you squint, it's a bit like a wall! :)

November 7, 2015 - A year or so ago I watched a YouTube video that showed a rather(I thought) unorthodox way of seeding a pomegranate. I tried it, and it worked, and now whenever pomegranates are in season, I no longer look at them wistfully.

Instead I buy them, whack the tar out of them, and enjoy them in salads, in yogurt, on granola.... I love the little tiny pockets of juicy flavour.

September 9, 2015 - Have ever just stopped and picked up the most mundane object and looked closely at it? It's always surprising what you see when you slow down and take a closer look at the world.

For January's Monthly Scavenger Hunt.

I'd named this photo, stared at the MSH list for 10 minutes before deciding I didn't want to attack it and then finally realised that "Order" was on the list. Maybe a tenuous link but these Florentine pigeons were much more orderly than British ones.

Orion on the left above the poppy, Taurus peeping through the "N", Pleiades to the left of the "Y" in the middle, Venus below the "Y" and a crescent moon on the horizon. (Best on full screen).

Wonderful evening at the Kiahuna Plantaion on Poipu Beach, Kauai. We are going back soon!

HWW!

Another photo from Siena, city of interesting walls.

It was part of the gate arrangement next to Waitrose against the River Lea.

This is a street photograph with no people. The idea is to show human interaction, with this clearly showing past activity.

Part of the 42mm project.
