Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict Ms. Pramila Patten Concludes Visit to Iraq and Stresses Need to Do More to Protect and Support Victims of Daesh’s Sexual Violence Crimes

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Ms. Pramila Patten, concluded an eight-day visit to Iraq during which she heard first-hand the heart wrenching accounts of survivors of Daesh’s sexual violence. She stressed the need to ensure that survivors of conflict-related sexual violence are fully protected and that perpetrators of these horrendous crimes are brought to justice.
Special Representative Patten met with Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and with other senior Government officials, at federal, regional and provincial levels in Baghdad, Erbil and Mosul. She also engaged directly with survivors, civil society groups and with Christian, Shia, Sunni, Turkmen Shia and Yazidi religious leaders. A strong message from the survivors relating to the plight of women and girls still under captivity as well as their missing family members was taken up with the Government by Special Representative Patten. She enquired about ongoing efforts to locate those missing and urged the authorities to expedite their rescue.
Many of the women who remain displaced expressed serious safety concerns regarding their return to their homes and shared their fear of reprisals. “I call on all religious and tribal leaders to welcome back survivors of sexual violence and their children, and the Government to find legal avenues to recognize their children as Iraqi citizens,” said Ms. Patten. “It is essential for all to work towards shifting the stigma from the victims to the perpetrators. I also urge the Government to ensure that women and girls who were victims of Daesh are not wrongfully perceived as being their ‘affiliates’.”
During discussion with Iraqi Officials on the question of justice and accountability, while acknowledging the efforts of the Government, the Special Representative stressed the importance of ensuring that alleged perpetrators are held accountable not only for the crime of terrorism but for the full extent of the sexual violence crimes perpetrated on Iraqi women and children including abduction, rape, sexual slavery and forced marriages. She noted in this regard that her Office stands ready to work directly with Iraqi judges, investigators and prosecutors together with the new Investigative Team established under UNSCR 2379. Her Team of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence also stands ready to provide support in the area of legislative reform in particular to criminalize war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide in Iraq.
In Mosul, where thousands of Iraqi women and girls were subjected to rape, sexual slavery and other grave forms of sexual violence perpetrated by Daesh, Ms. Patten was joined by Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict. They both called on the authorities of Ninewa Governorate to address the pressing needs of survivors in ongoing reconstruction efforts, including through the significant scaling-up of medical services, mental health and psychosocial support and economic livelihoods opportunities.
Ms. Patten’s visit from 26 February to 5 March 2018 was at the invitation of the Government, pursuant to the United Nations/Iraq Joint Communiqué to Prevent and Address Conflict-Related Sexual Violence of 2016. Her visit marks the endorsement of the Joint Communiqué’s Implementation Plan featuring specific measures related to justice and accountability, survivor-centered services and engagement with civil society organizations, religious/tribal leaders and the media. “The development of this implementation plan demonstrates the continuous commitment of the Government of Iraq to address the plight of the victims of conflict-related sexual violence,” stressed Special Representative Patten.
“While I congratulate the Government of Iraq for its military defeat of Daesh, I urge the Government to pursue its efforts to rescue those missing, to ensure justice and reparations to all victims of the heinous crimes of sexual violence and to include women in its peacebuilding, reconciliation and reconstruction initiatives,” stated Special Representative Patten.

In Sprechchören und Redebeiträgen bekunden die Teilnehmer ihre Unterstüzung mit Öcalan, der PKK, sowie der nordsyrischen YPG/YPJ. Sie weisen zudem auf den Kampf der YPG/YPJ gegen radikalislamische Milizen wie Daesh (ISIS) und der Al-Nusrah-Front hin. Sie fordern die sofortige Freilassung Öcalans aus türkischer Haft und betonen die Bedeutung des PKK-Gründers für den Frieden in der Region. Zudem wenden sie sich gegen das Regime des türkischen Präsidenten Recep Tayyip Erdogan und seiner AKP.
Es werden während der Kundgebung nur Fahnen in den kurdischen Farben gezeigt, jedoch keine der YPG/YPJ oder mit dem Porträt Öcalans.

Diyarbakir (Amed), Fête du Newroz 2015. Cette année, la fête de Newroz qui marque le nouvel an kurde, symbole de renaissance et de résistance pour ce peuple, se déroule dans un contexte particulièrement tendu. Depuis décembre 2015, l'était turc assiège et bombarde des quartiers entiers de villes kurdes, où populatins civiles comme militants sont indistinctement massacrés, et soumet l'ensemble de la population kurde à un violente répression. D'un autre côté, la peur d'un attentat suicide de daesh est dans toutes les têtes. Malgré tout, même si ils sont moins nombreux que les années passées, les Kurdes se rejoignent à Amed, capitale du Kurdistan, pour fêter Newroz et célébrer leur résistance.

Die Partei Die Linke verleiht in Berlin Kreuzberg zum achten Mal den Clara-Zetkin-Frauenpreis an Initiativen, die sich im vergangenen Jahr für die Rechte von Frauen in der Gesellschaft stark gemacht haben.
Preisträger 2018 ist die Initiative "TAJÊ - Freiheitsbewegung/Frauenräte der ezidischen Frauen", die jesidische Frauen berät und in der Bewältigung ihrer Erlebnisse durch die Verfolgung und Versklavung durch Daesh (IS) hilft. Der Sonderpreis geht dieses Jahr an Dr. Kristina Hänel, die nicht nur auf ein Leben im Kampf für die Rechte von Frauen zurückblicken kann, sondern zudem auch bundesweite Bekanntheit erlangte, nachdem sie nach §219a StGB verurteilt wurde.
Insgesamt wurden acht Initiativen nominiert. Der CareSlam! wurde von Yvonne Falckner begründet und gibt Pflegenden eine Bühne, um über ihre Arbeitsbedingungen zu sprechen. Bekannt wurde das Format durch einen Auftritt der CareSlammerin Sabrina Maar in der ZDF-Sendung "Die Anstalt" Anfang Dezember 2017. Ebenfalls nominiert wurde ein "Containerprojekt für wohnungslose Frauen", welches sich den besonderen Anforderungen von Frauen und Transgendern in der Obdachlosigkeit annimmt und ihnen eine unterkunft bietet. Das "Frauenorchesterprojekt (FOP)" ist ein Frauenchor unter der Leitung von Mary Ellen Kitchens, welcher es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hat, Musik von Frauen hörbar zu machen. Die "Kontaktstelle "Frauen für Frauen" wurde ebenso nominiert wie "RosaLinde e.V.- Queer Refugee Network" kämpft gegen die sprichwörtlichen "Sächsischen Zustände" an, indem es queeren Geflüchteten in Leipzig Unterstützung und Beratung zuteil werden lässt. Der "ver.di-Bezirksfrauenrat München" legt ein Augenmerk auf die Bedürfnisse und Herausforderungen von Frauen im Berufsleben.
Die einzelnen Projekte wurden von Politikerinnen der Partei Die Linke vorgestellt. Darunter waren Simone Barrientos (MdB), Lucy Redler, Juliane Nagel (MdB). Die Preise wurden von Katja Kipping übergeben. Für die musikalische Begleitung sorgte die Rapperin aus Zimbabwe AWA KHIWE.

The Kurds helped the world against ice
- but when they are attacked themselves, the west is failing.
In the world's fight against happening ice / Daesh, it was early clear that someone had to go in with ground troops in Syria to clear away the terrorists when the west air strike was not enough. But no country wanted to take the great risk of landing troops and moving against the horrendous terrorists. Nevertheless, thanks to Kurdish ypg forces, they were able to carry out the incredibly dangerous and difficult operation.
The Kurdish ypg forces succeeded and the world could thus destroy the geographical base of terrorists in Syria. The Kurdish efforts were absolutely crucial.
Ypg stands for yekîneyên parastina gel and means the people's defense units. It is the army of now independent Kurdish region of the Democratic Federation of northern Syria led by the middle-East Democratic Unionspartiet. The party is unlike the extremists, nationalist groups that have raged in Syria West, democratic and have political focus on social issues, gender equality and the environment. Ypg is known for its systergren ypj consisting of female soldiers.
It is one of few democratic and stabilising forces in Syria and it was the ypg troops that Swedish Jesper South fought for in the fight against the terrorists. However, since they are Kurds, they have turkey against those who do not like the Kurds having their own region in northern Syria and erdogan is trying to whip up their own polls at home.
Yesterday, Turkey's separatist leader erdogan launched a military offensive against the Kurds in northern Syria and so far the outside world has not intervened.
Analysis
The world has incredibly much to thank the Kurds for in northern Syria. They were the ones who defeated the terrorists and thus reduced ice / Daesh the possibility of terrorist acts against Europe. Moreover, it is by far the most democratic and west force in the region.
Mehrere tausend Menschen nehmen am 19.10.2019 in Berlin an einer Demonstration teil, zu der kurdische Gruppen aufgerufen hatten.
Die Teilnehmer protestieren gegen den militärischen Einmarsch der Türkei in die Region Rojava im Nordosten Syriens. Die selbstverwaltete Region wird von den kurdischen Selbstverteidigungseinheiten YPG und YPJ verteidigt. Bei den Kämpfen in den letzten Tagen sollen hunderte Menschen ihr Leben verloren haben. Über 100.000 Menschen sind auf der Flucht.
In Reden werden sowohl die Türkei, als auch die ehemaligen Verbündeten der YPG/YPJ kritisiert. Zudem wird die Rolle des PKK-Führers Abdullah Öcalan für die Region betont.
Die Türkei sieht in der YPG/YPJ einen Ableger der Kurdischen Arbeiterpartei PKK und sieht sie daher als Terroristen an. Derweil waren die kurdischen Einheiten in den letztzen Jahren der engste Verbündete des Westens, insbesondere der USA im Kampf gegen Daesh (IS). Durch die Entscheidung des US-Präsidenten Donald Trump, die eigenen Truppen aus den kurdischen Gebieten abzuziehen, eröffnete er der Türkei die Möglichkeit des Einmarschs.

Rund 150 Menschen folgen in Berlin einem Aufruf unter dem Motto "Keine Deutsche Beteiligung am Krieg in Syrien", um gegen den Einsatz deutscher Soldaten in Syrien und die NATO, USA, und alles mögliche zu demonstrieren. Nachdem die angekündigten rechtsaußen Redner Kathrin Oertel (Ex-Pegida) und Jürgen Elsässer (Compact) nicht kommen konnten oder wollten, trat u.a. Christoph Hörstel auf. Dieser tourt seit Jahren als Werber für das syrische Regime von Baschar al-Assad durch das Land und trat auch auf der antisemitischen, iranischen Propaganga-Show des Al Quds Marsches in Berlin auf.
Der Protestzug zieht vom Vorplatz des Hauptbahnhofes zum Brandenburger Tor. Während des Zuges sprechen diverse Teilnehmer u.a. aus Erfurt und Halle, dabei wird die Bundesrepublik wahlweise mit dem nationalsozialisten Deutschland des "3. Reiches" oder der DDR verglichen.
Die Veranstaltung ist eng mit EnDgAmE verknüpft. Auch das Bandmitlied der rechten HipHop-Gruppe "Die Bandbreite" Marcel Wojnarowicz spricht und hält schließlich am Brandenburger Tor einen Ein-Mann-Auftritt seiner Band ab, wobei es einen wüsten Ritt durch die gängigen Verschwörungstheorien in Bezug auf 9/11, den arabischen Frühling, Daesh, Syrien und diverse andere vorgebliche Verbrechen der USA gibt. Zudem hagelt es Beschimpfungen der Presse und der "Antifa".

In 2017, clean water was restored in Ninewah under UNDP's Funding Facility for Stabilization.
In mid-2015, at the request of the Government of Iraq and with the support of the Global Coalition Against Daesh, UNDP Iraq established the Funding Facility for Stabilization (FFS) to carry out stabilization activities in areas affected by the ISIL conflict.
Working in 31 locations across the five liberated governorates – Anbar, Diyala, Kirkuk, Ninewa and Salah Al Din, and in nine major sectors – electricity, health, water, education, sewerage, livelihoods, municipalities, roads and bridges, and social cohesion, FFS focuses on rehabilitating public infrastructure and providing essential services to communities living in areas affected by the conflict. This includes the rehabilitation of schools and hospitals, water systems and electricity networks, providing short-term employment through public works schemes and rehabilitating damaged houses. It also includes activities to support governments build peaceful and cohesive communities, and building their capacity to deliver essential services to Iraqi communities.

The site of Nimrud itself was attacked by Daesh barbarians in mid 2015 destroying 3000 years of history and leaving the site and its priceless sculptures over 80% destroyed.
Nimrud was liberated earlier this week after two years of mistreatment and destruction and the scale of the disaster is now becoming clear. We must therefore be thankful that most of the major sculptures were long ago moved from the site to other museums in Baghdad, London (which holds the largest collection of sculptures and reliefs) and elsewhere and have thus survived this horrific onslaught against ancient Assyria. Significant fragments appear to have survive on the site and have been photographed since its liberation, and hopefully more will be recovered and identified in the coming weeks.
What now for Nimrud? The site is virtually destroyed, reconstructing it to its previous condition will be extremely difficult using just the remaining fragments. Perhaps a better option would be to bring together casts or 3D scanned and printed exact copies of all the pieces that have been dispersed to foreign museums, reuniting all the great sculptures of Nimrud with what little survives on site and incorporate them in a reconstruction of at least part the palace complex. This way not only could the Daesh barbarity be undone to some extent but Nimrud would rise again more magnificent than before.

Rund 1.500 Menschen sind am 20.01.2018 in Berlin-Kreuzberg auf die Straße gegangen, um gegen den Angriff der türkischen Armee auf das westkurdische Kanton Efrîn zu demonstrieren. Lautstark forderten die Demonstranten das Ende der Militäraktionen und den Abzug sämtlicher türkische Einheiten und deren Verbündete von der türkischen-syrischen Grenze. Die türkische Luftwaffe hatte am Mittag begonnen aus der Luft dutzende Beobachtungsstellungen der kurdischen Volksverteidigungseinheiten YPG zu bombardieren. Bei dem Angriff seien mindestens zehn türkische Kampfflugzeuge beteiligt gewesen. Nach unbestätigten Angaben sollen auch mit der Türkei verbündete Rebellen der „Freien Syrischen Armee (FSA)“ nach Efrîn vorgedrungen zu sein. Dafür gab es zunächst aber keine Bestätigung. Bei den Angriffen wurden laut kurdischen Angaben, mindestens sechs Zivilisten und drei Kämpfer der YPG getötet.
Zu der Demonstration hatten mehrere kurdische Gruppen und Vereine aufgerufen. In Redebeiträgen kritisierten die Redner unter anderem Russland, die den syrischen Luftraum kontrolliert. Offenbar hat die russische Regierung zuvor ihre Einwilligung zu den Luftschlägen gegeben. Aber auch die Rüstungsexporte der Bundesregierung wurden massiv kritisiert. Trotz der aufgeheizten Stimmung der Demonstration, verlief die Veranstaltung friedlich und ohne besondere Zwischenfälle. Auch aus anderen europäischen Städten wurden Proteste gemeldet.

Ein Sprecher der kurdischen Truppen sprach von mindestens 108 Raketeneinschlägen.
Bei den Angriffen seien mindestens zehn türkische Kampfflugzeuge beteiligt gewesen. Vielerorts stiegen in der türkisch-syrischen Grenzregion schwarze Rauchschwaden auf. Bei den Angriffen wurden laut kurdischen Angaben, mindestens sechs Zivilisten und drei Kämpfer der YPG getötet. Dutzende Menschen wurden verletzt, einige davon schwer. Nach unbestätigten Angaben sollen auch mit der Türkei verbündete Rebellen der „Freien Syrischen Armee (FSA)“ nach Efrîn vorgedrungen zu sein. Dafür gab es zunächst aber keine Bestätigung. Allerdings kündigte Ministerpräsident Binali Yıldırım im türkischen Fernsehen, dass „Ab morgen werden Bodentruppen eingesetzt" werden.
Präsident Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hatte die Militäroffensive zu Beginn der Woche angekündigt und gesagt, er wolle Truppen nach Efrîn schicken, um YPG-Kämpfer zu vertreiben. Vor Parteifreunden sagte er "Wir werden sämtliche Terrornester in Syrien Stück für Stück ausrotten, beginnend mit Efrîn". Schon in den vergangenen Tagen hatte die türkische Armee viele Panzer und anderes Kriegsgerät an die syrische Grenze gebracht. Die Operation mit dem Namen „Olivenzweig" (Operasyonun „Zeytin Dalı“) schien nur eine Frage der Zeit.
Heute sagte der türkische Staatspräsident vor Anhängern in der westanatolischen Stadt Küthaya: "Die Efrîn-Operation ist de facto gestartet. Anschließend ist Manbidsch dran. Nach und nach werden wir diese dreckigen Terroristen, die in unser Land eindringen wollen, verscheuchen. Beginnend von Westen bis hin zu irakischen Grenze.". Mit Terroristen sind in diesem Fall die kurdischen Volksverteidigungseinheiten „Yekîneyên Parastina Gel (YPG“) und die Frauenverteidigungseinheiten „Yekîneyên Parastina Jin (YPJ)“ gemeint. Die Türkei sieht in ihnen die syrische Variante der als Terrororganisation verbotenen PKK.
Mit der Militäroffensive will die Türkei offenbar verhindern, dass die Kurden im Nordwesten Syriens eine Autonomieregion errichten. Die Militäroffensive richtet sich allerdings nicht nur gegen die Kurden, sondern auch gegen die USA. Die US-Regierung unterstützt die YPG in Syrien und schätzt sie als Partner im Kampf gegen die Terrormiliz "Islamischer Staat" - auch dauerhaft. Die USA haben angekündigt, im Nordwesten Syriens eine Grenzschutztruppe unter Führung der YPG etablieren zu wollen.
Gegen die Angriffe der türkischen Armee riefen mehrere kurdische Gruppen und Vereine zu Protesten unter dem Motto „Lasst uns die Stimmen erheben – Gegen die türkische Kriegspolitik – Für die Solidarität mit Afrin!“ auf. Aus diesem Grund versammelten sich am Samstagnachmittag auf dem Hermannplatz mehrere hundert Menschen zur Auftaktveranstaltung. Später wuchs die Anzahl der Demonstranten auf rund 1.500. In Redebeiträgen kritisierten die Redner unter anderem Russland, die bislang den syrischen Luftraum kontrolliert. Offenbar hatte die russische Regierung zuvor ihre Einwilligung zu den Luftschlägen gegeben. Bereits in den vergangenen Tagen, hatte das russische Verteidigungsministerium damit begonnen, sämtliches Militärpersonal aus Efrîn abzuziehen. Bislang hatte sich Russland den Kurden gegenüber neutral verhalten, dies scheint sich mittlerweile geändert zu haben. Aber auch die Rüstungsexporte der Bundesregierung wurden in den Redebeiträgen massiv kritisiert.
Gegen 16.30 Uhr setze sich der Aufzug in Richtung Oranienplatz in Bewegung. Trotz der angespannten Lage, verlief die Demonstration friedlich und ohne besondere Zwischenfälle. Lediglich am Rande kam es vereinzelt zu Provokationen türkischer Nationalisten. Die Polizei, die mit einem Großaufgebot vor Ort war, verhinderte jedoch ein direktes Aufeinandertreffen. In vielen anderen europäischen Städten wurden ebenfalls Proteste gemeldet. Unter anderem gab es Demonstrationen in Nürnberg, Frankfurt/Main, Kassel, Mannheim, Wien, Kopenhagen, Paris und in Zürich. Auch für die kommenden Tagen werden weitere Protestaktionen erwartet.

The ATG of Operation OKRA is operating at the request of the Iraqi Government within a US-led international coalition assembled to disrupt and degrade Daesh operations in the Middle East Region (MER). The ATG comprises six RAAF F/A-18A Hornet fighter aircraft, an E-7A Wedgetail airborne command and control aircraft, and a KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport air-to-air refuelling aircraft. Additionally, the ATG has personnel working in the Combined Air and Space Operations Centre, and embedded with the ‘Kingpin’ US tactical Command and Control Unit.
The ATG is directly supported by elements of Operation ACCORDION including the Theatre Communications Group, Air Mobility Task Group, and the Combat Support Unit, whose mission is to provide continuous combat support to sustain air operations in the MER. There are up to 350 personnel deployed, at any one time, as part of, or in direct support of the ATG.

Die Partei Die Linke verleiht in Berlin Kreuzberg zum achten Mal den Clara-Zetkin-Frauenpreis an Initiativen, die sich im vergangenen Jahr für die Rechte von Frauen in der Gesellschaft stark gemacht haben.
Preisträger 2018 ist die Initiative "TAJÊ - Freiheitsbewegung/Frauenräte der ezidischen Frauen", die jesidische Frauen berät und in der Bewältigung ihrer Erlebnisse durch die Verfolgung und Versklavung durch Daesh (IS) hilft. Der Sonderpreis geht dieses Jahr an Dr. Kristina Hänel, die nicht nur auf ein Leben im Kampf für die Rechte von Frauen zurückblicken kann, sondern zudem auch bundesweite Bekanntheit erlangte, nachdem sie nach §219a StGB verurteilt wurde.
Insgesamt wurden acht Initiativen nominiert. Der CareSlam! wurde von Yvonne Falckner begründet und gibt Pflegenden eine Bühne, um über ihre Arbeitsbedingungen zu sprechen. Bekannt wurde das Format durch einen Auftritt der CareSlammerin Sabrina Maar in der ZDF-Sendung "Die Anstalt" Anfang Dezember 2017. Ebenfalls nominiert wurde ein "Containerprojekt für wohnungslose Frauen", welches sich den besonderen Anforderungen von Frauen und Transgendern in der Obdachlosigkeit annimmt und ihnen eine unterkunft bietet. Das "Frauenorchesterprojekt (FOP)" ist ein Frauenchor unter der Leitung von Mary Ellen Kitchens, welcher es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hat, Musik von Frauen hörbar zu machen. Die "Kontaktstelle "Frauen für Frauen" wurde ebenso nominiert wie "RosaLinde e.V.- Queer Refugee Network" kämpft gegen die sprichwörtlichen "Sächsischen Zustände" an, indem es queeren Geflüchteten in Leipzig Unterstützung und Beratung zuteil werden lässt. Der "ver.di-Bezirksfrauenrat München" legt ein Augenmerk auf die Bedürfnisse und Herausforderungen von Frauen im Berufsleben.
Die einzelnen Projekte wurden von Politikerinnen der Partei Die Linke vorgestellt. Darunter waren Simone Barrientos (MdB), Lucy Redler, Juliane Nagel (MdB). Die Preise wurden von Katja Kipping übergeben. Für die musikalische Begleitung sorgte die Rapperin aus Zimbabwe AWA KHIWE.
Wir wollen euch hier die Erinnerung an einen weiteren unserer Kameraden präsentieren, der am 19.04.2023 im Einsatz getötet wurde:
Finbar Cafferkey, auch bekannt als Heval Çîya, war ein Internationalist, der gegen Staat und Hauptstadt gearbeitet und gekämpft hat. Er sah oberflächliche Widersprüche und Dilemmas, die andere lähmen könnten, und schätzte stattdessen die Komplexität der Welt. Man kann sowohl anspruchsvoll als auch entschlossen sein, wie er war.
Çîya kam in die Ukraine, als der Krieg begann, er half auch der antiautoritären Freiwilligenbewegung. Er lieferte regelmäßig humanitäre Hilfe und Autos für vorderster Front von Polen in die Ukraine, mit der ACK - Galicja und der xvx taktikaid www.instagram.com /xvx. Taktikhilfe/). Habe ein paar Nachtvisionen für GNIP mitgebracht www.instagram.com /p/CroYOFqsNvC/). Er machte mit uns und hwv_ua humanitäre Lieferreisen in Gebiete an vorderster Front ( www.instagram.com /p/CrlBbxAotW3/). Auf die Frage, warum er das getan hat, antwortete Çîya immer: "Weil ich Zeit habe und hier nützlich sein kann. "
Finbar brachte anderen bei, sorgfältig zu schauen, zuzuhören und zu lernen - und schätzte es, mit den eigenen Augen zu sehen. Er bewegte sich leicht durch eine komplexe Welt, bequem mit verschiedenen Menschen, kompetent in schwierigen Situationen und ruhig inmitten des Chaos.
Finbar war auch zu Hause aktiv. In seinem Heimatland County Mayo war er aktiv an den Protesten gegen den Bau der Shell to Sea Gaspipeline.
Mit seinem Charakter verteidigte er die Küste seines Heimatlandes vor Plündern von Konzernen. Mit seinem Verständnis kämpfte er im Kampf um Raqqa und zeigte Mitgefühl mit allen, die er bei der Rojava-Revolution gegen Daesh und das türkische Regime traf. Mit seinem Engagement nahm er den ukrainischen Widerstand an und diente er so wie er ist.
Als er sich entschied, gemeinsam mit 3 unserer Kameraden an einer Einheit teilzunehmen, begannen wir ihn mit der benötigten Ausrüstung zu unterstützen.

Er war ein zutiefst engagierter Kamerad, der immer den Kampf und seine Liebe zu anderen an erster Stelle stellte; er war lustig, freundlich und vollständig und offen geliebt.

Mehrere hundert Syrer protestieren in Berlin anlässlich des fünften Jahrestages der syrischen Revolution in Berlin gegen das Regime von Baschar al-Assad und seinen engsten Verbündeten, den russischen Präsidenten Wladimir Putin.
Nach einer Kundgebung am Brandenburger Tor ziehen die Demonstranten in die Nähe der russischen Botschaft und wieder zurück. In Reden bekennen sich die Teilnehmer zu Demokratie und Freiheit und fordern ein Ende des syrischen Regimes als Voraussetzung für eine positive Zukunft Syriens.
Der Aufstand der Syrer gegen Diktator Baschar al-Assad begann vor fünf Jahren am 15. März 2011, als Jugendliche "Das Volk will den Sturz des Regimes" an eine Wand in Daraa sprühten, verhaftet und gefoltert wurden. Die anschließenden, friedlichen Demonstrationen im Zuge des "Arabischen Frühlings", wurden vom Regime blutig beantwortet.
In den letzten fünf Jahren haben nach Schätzungen rund 280.000 Menschen ihr Leben verloren, Millionen sind auf der Flucht, viele Städte zerstört, Zehntausende nach wie vor in den Foltergefängnissen des Regimes und Teile des Landes in der Hand der Terrororganisation Daesh.

Turkish envoy to Iraq says military aid will be used to fight against Daesh
BAGHDAD
Turkey's military aid to Iraq will be used to fight against Daesh, Turkey's envoy to Iraq has said.
Two C-130-type military planes carrying Turkish military aid landed in Muthenna Air Base in Baghdad on Tuesday.
Speaking to The Anadolu Agency, Turkey's envoy to Baghdad, Faruk Kaymakci, said "the aid will be used to fight against Daesh [the Arabic acronym for ISIL]."
Kaymakci confirmed that Turkey's defense minister, Ismet Yilmaz, will visit the Baghdad government and the Kurdish Regional Government in Erbil between Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Turkey would continue to stand with the Iraqi government within the scope of the international coalition against Daesh and will contribute to the stability, security and prosperity of Iraq, Kaymakci added.
Iraq has been gripped by a security vacuum since June 2014 when Daesh militants stormed the northern province of Mosul and declared a self-styled caliphate in parts of Iraq and Syria.

Guardian lamassu (human-headed winged bull or lion) from the ancient Assyrian royal palace of Nimrud (near Mosul in modern Iraq) one of a pair that formerly flanked one of the many grand entrances, now in the British Museum.
The site of Nimrud itself was attacked by Daesh barbarians in mid 2015 destroying 3000 years of history and leaving the site and its priceless sculptures over 80% destroyed.
Nimrud was liberated earlier this week after two years of mistreatment and destruction and the scale of the disaster is now becoming clear. We must therefore be thankful that most of the major sculptures were long ago moved from the site to other museums in Baghdad, London (which holds the largest collection of sculptures and reliefs) and elsewhere and have thus survived this horrific onslaught against ancient Assyria. Significant fragments appear to have survive on the site and have been photographed since its liberation, and hopefully more will be recovered and identified in the coming weeks.
What now for Nimrud? The site is virtually destroyed, reconstructing it to its previous condition will be extremely difficult using just the remaining fragments. Perhaps a better option would be to bring together casts or 3D scanned and printed exact copies of all the pieces that have been dispersed to foreign museums, reuniting all the great sculptures of Nimrud with what little survives on site and incorporate them in a reconstruction of at least part the palace complex. This way not only could the Daesh barbarity be undone to some extent but Nimrud would rise again more magnificent than before.
I made a gallery of the site as it remained until the recent Daesh occupation of northern Iraq made all art and culture a target for its barbarity.

Rund 150 Menschen aus kommunistischen Gruppen, darunter die MLKP, nahmen mit einerm Demonstrationszug in Berlin Kreuzberg Abschied von der 19jährigen Ivana Hoffmann, die am 07.03.2015 im Kampf gegen den sogenannten Islamischen Staat (IS) in der syrischen Provinz Rojava gefallen ist.
In Reden und Sprechchören bekundeten die Teilnehmer ihre Solidarität mit dem Kamof der YPG/YPJ in Rojava.

Nel mese di agosto del 2014 oltre 400000 componenti della comunità yazida hanno dovuto abbandonare le loro case mentre Daesh conquistava, devastandole, ampie estensioni di territorio iracheno. Chi è riuscito a fuggire si è rifugiato sulle montagne di Sinjar, per poi raggiungere i campi profughi della regione del Kurdistan iracheno.
Il campo profughi di Khanke – il luogo dove sono ospitate le ragazze autrici delle fotografie e da cui provengono gli scatti – ospita quasi tremila famiglie, fuggite dalla provincia irachena di Ninive. Nonostante il trauma e gli orrori a cui ha assistito, la comunità yazida ha dimostrato caparbietà e una grande capacità di reagire, di cui la mostra fotografica è un toccante esempio.

Many of these scenes depict the hunting of animals and are as cruel as they are beautifully rendered; this often makes me question my enjoyment of these stunning artworks when beautiful animals like lions and horses are seen to be suffering in them.
The site of Nineveh has been attacked by Daesh barbarians over the last two years of jihadi occupation, demolishing most of the few remaining structures and destroying 3000 years of history. It is located in the centre of Mosul which is currently a battleground as Iraqi forces attempt to reclaim their city. Whether any of the last vestiges of ancient Nineveh survive the liberation of the city remains to be seen, fortunately most of its more important sculpture is safe in museums like this.
