Playing with the "liquid" theme this week.

I had a brainwave this evening about the drip pics. The main problem was the timing so why not use a thicker, slower moving medium like syrup. With a setup like this I was able to fill the spoon with syrup and take loads of drip pictures like the following picture. It tool me ten minutes to set up the shot and then flash took care of the rest.

To me this is just cool i was lucky to get it

Steven said that he had to sign it.

He fabricated it from a piece of sheet metal. It was amazing to watch him bend and shape the sheet of metal.

Milagros Dancehall Collective and Drip at Saguijo. Didn't bring my camera. I used Kat's digicam. Played with slow-sync flash. Experimented with temperatures in Lightroom

For my next photography project, i had to experiment with shutter speed - i didnt like the long shutter speeds, ive never liked that blurred effect. ;) so i just took some cool fast shutter speed ones ;) So, i decided to experiment with water - i didnt have anyone to help me, so i just settled with the tap to do the work for me ;) took me ages to get it to focus though XD

My garden is frozen! We still have a true covering of snow over everything at ground level. Time has stood still when it comes to the water on leaf situation, so without a flash we've got a still moment of movement. Loving getting out the macro lens after it's gathered some dust over the last few months.

dark version (no ps)

This was my vision for Picture This Thursday's theme of "drip". Not sure which I like the best......what do you think?

I kinda like this dark version

An old faucet -- a drip

I think our table only ended up with 43 drops... L-R: Margaret Conroy (Missouri State Lib), Melissa Carr (Daniel Boone Reg Lib), Regina Cooper (Springfield-Greene County Lib)

strobist info: Canon EX508II flash with CTG gel to add some gentle depth and make the greens greener fired into the top of a light box. No special trigger, just a little practice to get the drop in mid-flight. In Lightroom: crop, highlight tones -89, noise reduction, lum=39, color=63

A still of a water drip, i fiddled for ages with shutter speeds and iso levels trying to get something acceptable....so I gave up lol.
