At Cossette we were somewhat sceptical about pink feather dress, with many clichés and stereotypes associated with this colour and material. Cossette decided to give it a try playing around with a few colour combinations to see how it may work? This is the outcome and we are happy how it turned out. It feels a little outrageous but the shiny round diamond belt buckle and silver sparkling mask with a few silver buttons make everything come together into something special. Its loud and attention grabbing yet there is a mystery and control hidden behind the mask. Don’t be fooled by the silly name, there is nothing silly about this dress.

Pattern: An Ann Estelle pattern by sweetiemom
Modifications: Printed the pattern at 92% and still had to reduce the width of the bodice to get it to fit. First time doing sleeves in about 5 years, so they aren’t all that pretty. I managed to put the first one on inside out. Forgot to use the “reduced bulk” method to attach the skirt.
I will probably make this pattern again, just so I can get it right. I'll shorten the bodice a tiny bit when I do, it currently sits on her hips rather than her waist.
We had sat together looking at fabric swatches from some of my mail-order sources. After seeing the sketches, however, Seraphina didn't like any of them. We took a little field trip to Britex, a local fabric store.
She was much more comfortable being able to hold up larger pieces next to her skin. We also decided to reverse the original idea of the bodice colors: making the majority of the bodice the dark color (for a slimming effect), with only the center front panel in the cream of the skirt.

I decided to only use single layers of organza as mine is manmade, and after reading Handmade Jane's blog I was worried it might add too much bulk to the dress.
One of my favorite dresses...I knew the moment I saw it on the rack several years ago it would look terrific on me.
The red/black crepe dress is another Jaclyn Smith item from Kmart, purchased in March 2009; the Fioni "Kassie" red patent t-strap pumps are from Payless in January 2009. Other accessories are red rosette headband, pearls, and dark hose.

The dress I ended up getting from Glamour Closet last September, probably while it was still just one of the choices. Carmen took this with my old little camera.

Poppy got a little tired of her pink wig, and changed into her red wig instead. She thought it would go better with the new outfit I had bought her.
