Detroit & Mackinac engine 974 returns to the west side of Saginaw, MI. after exchanging cars with CSX. This is actually the Central Michigan 740 job utilizing power from the D&M. The photo was taken at Mershon as the train heads south to Genesee Yard in February of 1990.
I've had this on my shelf 99% finished for ages. Then I stole some bits and it was 97%. Now it's 100%. Probably.
Des Moines & Central Iowa GE 70T is inside a former M&StL shop building in Marshalltown, Iowa, in March, 1969. Note on the other track several more GE 70 tonner's that have been retired.

things that I remember, that I wish I could change.
/do you ever have entire conversations with someone inside
your head? and you say everything you never got to say,
and in your mind it plays out like a super calm movie where
the voices stay soft and every word makes sense and is
understood. the edges stay a cool blue black, and
hands are held and truths exchanged and
souls thank each other and apologize.
damn, does my brain ever rationalize the hell out of stuff
during those mind films.
of course people and emotions aren't always rational,
and sometimes
that movie mind reel is the closest to closure we'll
ever get.
and sometimes it's enough, and sometimes it's not.
and sometimes it's superheated.
