It's our "These are ready to return to the library" shelf.

I made this for my bathroom . I cannibalized a little radio with a poor sound . I mounted a bigger speaker and recycled the two wheels for the tuning and volume trimmers. The sound is still very lo-fi but it become listenable ... It looks good under the bathroom mirror !

Teens showed their creative sides with do it yourself crafts. We turned buttons into bracelets, and we dipped in yesteryear with floppy disk pencil holders.

To make this apron I used a regular-sized pillowcase from a garage sale, and ribbon and seam binding I already had. I cut off the hem end and sewed the case shut. That way both the front and the back have good sides. I sewed on navy seam binding around three sides (not the top). This covers where I sewed up the pillowcase. I used a long length of ribbon (don't remember how much) and sewed it on the the case about 1 to 1.5 inches from the top, stitching along the top and bottom of the ribbon, and at the edges of the apron.

what to do if you don't have enough storage space and drink lots of coffee.
clean out the trade joes coffee cylinders after you've finished. peel off the labels. glue the cans together. tie a large satin ribbon around the whole affair and hang it. a small nail in the back of one will help hold it up.
I hung it over my small craft table/vanity. so far, it holds working crafts, tubes of glue, 10 yarn hedgehogs and my contacts.
I love how my chair doubles as a small product photography background! Tomorrow is Pinhole Photography Day - can't wait to see how my photos turn out!
A prezzie for my niece. The hoop was made from willow from the tree in my yard, stripped and curled inside a saucepan to hold it in shape until it dried. The beads are willow sections cut, drilled through the pulp, sanded and coloured. The feather was dyed in food colouring.
The string was just ordinary string (be de-stranded because it was too thick as it was, so I unspun it). Maybe next year I'll harvest some nettles and make some string from that....

The stack of signatures is then placed in a paper vise made with two pieces of square steel tubing bolted together. The indentations for sewing are then sawn with a small dovetail saw.
Cutting the sheets and folding makes sure that the paper grain runs vertically in the finished book, thus allowing for expansion and contraction due to moisture in a horizontal fashion, eliminating the potential warping of the paper.
These were inspired by the new issue of Craft Magazine. Rubber stamps with craft ink that will (hopefully) be waterproof!
