This was served on the side with my burrito bowl. Quite weird. I can't stand queso dip, but, it was kinda good, I admit!

I was drinking while I was cooking so I don’t know exactly what I did to make this hot artichoke dip.

I do know that Smoltz and the Braves bonked Arizona.

I do know that Smoltz was striking them out like they were Grannies slapping at flies.

I do know that I put a tablespoon of this dip on the top of my wife’s head and her tongue beat a hole through the top of her skull just to get a taste of it.

What I remember –

Chop up about 4 or 6 artichoke hearts

Chop up about 6 fists full of spinach

Cook them in as little water as you can with a little salt and a little garlic and about ¼ of an onion minced fine. Add some pepper flakes

Drink a beer – watch some baseball.

Mash the spinach and artichokes to a pulp. Throw in a couple of dollops of Dukes mayonnaise

Microwave about a half of a cup of cream cheese to get it soft.

While that is happening grate about a half cup of Parmesan cheese and watch Smoltz fan an Arizona batter.

Throw about 3 generous dollops of sour cream into the cream cheese.

Throw the grated Parmesian cheese in too.

Add garlic to taste.

Dump all the stuff together and let it meld for a few minutes.

Get another beer and watch the game and get some chips and dip.

I’m thinking the only thing that could make this better is for the Braves to make the Series again and maybe to add a fistful or two of crab meat to the dip.

dollop of sour cream on top would not hurt.

After Rob and I got back from our trip to the Catskills (photos to come), I felt bad that he didn’t get a birthday cake while we were there. So I decided to make him belated birthday cupcakes instead. Since I never made cupcakes before, I had to do some research and found several recipes to mix and match. At the end, I altered a yellow cake recipe, a crème filling recipe, and used ganache to make peanut butter cupcakes. The cream to this was delicious, tasting a bit like the inside of a reese’s peanut butter cup but really smooth and lighter. The yellow cake mix came out denser than I expected, which made inserting the crème a bit difficult, but with the cocoa powder, tasted like a brownie. However, I would recommend finding a cupcake recipe ‘cause there would be less resistance from a fluffier cake when filling. The ganache topped everything off nicely. Here are the recipes below:

Yellow cake mix:

¾ cup butter, softened

3 eggs

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

2 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 ¾ cups sugar

1 ½ teaspoons vanilla

1 ¼ cups of milk

about 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (I added this to make it chocolate cake)

1) Preheat oven to 325F degrees. Stir flour, baking powder, cocoa, salt together, set aside.

2) Beat butter with electric mixer on medium for 30 seconds. Gradually add sugar, about ¼ cup at a time, beating at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla, beating at medium still. Switch to beat at low speed. Alternately add flour mixture and milk to butter mixture, beating at low speed.

3) Pour into lined or greased cupcake tins, bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into cupcake comes out clean. Let cool a bit.

Crème Filling:

3 cups confectioners’ sugar

1 cup butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 to 2 tablespoons heavy cream

about 1 cup of creamy peanut butter

1) Combine sugar and butter and mix on low speed til blended, then increase to medium speed and beat for 3 more minutes.

2) Add vanilla and cream and continue to beat on medium.

3) Add in peanut butter, and more heavy cream if needed until the consistency is what you want.

Ganache

½ cup heavy cream

4 ounces semisweet chocolate

Heat the cream in a saucepan to a scald. Add chocolate and continue to whisk until melted and becomes smooth.

Putting it all together

After removing cupcakes from oven, make the filling and then put it in a pastry bag with a plain tip. When the cupcakes have cooled a bit, pipe the crème into the centers of the cakes. Wipe off any excess. Make ganache, and let it sit for a minute ‘til it is a bit firmer. Dip cupcakes into the ganache, topside down. Set aside and let cool.

Spent most of the day watching ATLA. I did some photo editing but in the end I got distracted with making something amusing for my friend. I went shopping in the nice weather. Got back in touch with Stephen and he suggested he pay for me to see him, so I booked a trip to visit. Really looking forward to it.

Dipping, or chewing on tobacco leaf, is commonly considered to be a masculine pastime; however this can of chewing tobacco belongs to a girl at my NROTC unit who thinks of herself as "one of the guys", and therefore dips alongside them.

Black bean dip is a nice change from the usual chips and salsa, perfect as an appetizer or just for snacking. You can reduce the amount of vinegar to suit your taste, but I think it gives it a great overall flavor. This dip is also good to serve at tailgate parties.

The river Ganga (Ganges) which originates in the Gangotri glacier in the snow clad high Himalayas, descends down the mountains, reaches the plains, flows through ancient pilgrimage sites, and drains into the Bay of Bengal. A dip in the ocean, where the Ganga meets the sea is considered to be of great religious significance particularly on the Makara Sankranti day (January 14/15), when the sun makes a transition to Capricorn from Sagittarius. Almost a million of Hindu devotees from all over India gather at Gangasagar for a holy dip and perform rituals and prayer (puja) with a belief that it will cleanse and purify their souls.

Ganga Sagar - pain, bliss and sanctification

The Ganga Sagar Mela continues to throb with life, with the energy of millions of pilgrims. The pilgrimage may be extremely tough, but the pilgrims know that the visit will purify their souls. The visit fulfils their lifelong desire and often one can see tears of joy rolling down their cheeks. That is the magic of religion!

These two dippy girls loved each other on first sight. Just like their mommies.

Today was the day.

The first since April.

Back then, I did not feel the temperature, deep in the water.

For reasons.

Today, when leisurely taking a swim, it was darn cold.

But I had to.

Had to show P that I had the guts to go underwater.

That was just manly macho stupidity.

It came flying holding a dry piece of bread in its beak, dipped it in the water and flew away.
